My life as a Dragon Sorceress Teacher

I wasn't sure how to go about reviewing a purely text-based game but I thought I would give it my best shot. I spent about twenty minutes playing the game through multiple times in order to locate all the endings I found the following; Lightning Struck, Ghost Whisperer, Thanos Apocalypse, Happy Ever After, Fun Social End Ending, Violent End, Infirmary Ending, Teacher Ending, Pocket Dimension Ending, and Cleanup Ending. I hope that was all of them.

So the story to this game is that you are a Dragon Sorceress and that you've been hired as a teacher, the game offers you a small number of branching pathways which lead to the various endings. Some endings are sudden and without warning for example, the Lightning Struck ending - which I stumbled across within a couple of minutes, when I chose what I perceived to be the sensible option from the first options presented. However I guess I should try and remember this was made for the abrupt ending event.

Being as this is a text-based game I should mention that the quality of the writing, which is good although it feels like the writer didn't necessarily set out with a plan. The game feels very whimsical with some of the available options not always feeling natural but more of a, "wouldn't it be cool if..." I say this not as a criticism but to make clear to you what sort of adventure you're in store for with Sorceress as Teacher. For the most part the game takes you down branching paths until you get to an end with one exception that I found. The exception was that on the one story path where you get to play two days of story, for the one ending you need to visit the staff room on the first of the two days in order to be able to visit the staff room on the second day. It's a shame this sort of structure wasn't adopted through out as it would have made the story far more interactive, say you chose to teach your class fire magic on the first day then it could open up new or different options on later days. One final feature I feel I should mention is the ability to click on certain phrases or thoughts for slightly more detail. They don't change anything but can give a bit of backstory or intrigue.

I think that largely covers Sorceress as Teacher, so how to rate it. The game is good, the wiritng is good but I feel like there was certainly room for further development or missed opportunities to make the game more interactive. On that basis I would award 3.5 stars. As for whether you should try this game, you can certainly see most of the endings within a quick play session, you if you fancy a short adventure filled with whimsy then go for it!
