What can I say about the game, Dandelion? (Warning: contains spoilers).

It is an interesting game not just for humans but for aliens! I like this game because it goes beyond human imagination, and is told from an alien point of view. A thought provoking narrative. What was here on this dead planet before it ended? Even after its short 10 minute play through, it made me think about it even longer.

The graphics, man! Love the old-school graphics. Brings me back to the time when Pong came out and the early years of computer games. The 2 colors, black and orange that are used, look really good together and creates the melancholy of space travel accompanied by the eerie music.

Only complaint is the length and the variety of game play. Would’ve been nice if our little alien friend went down to the planet for some exploration with an away team, like a good old fashion Star Trek episode. Perhaps a ghost town, where more unusual artefacts could be recovered and brought back to the spaceship. We get a plant, a dog-like creature and a TV to analyze. Followed by an eye-brow raising Spock-like scientific explanation. Arguably, the TV is a living organism depending on what your definition is for a “living thing”.

This game only features 1 planet with its only moon. Obviously, it’s our planet Earth. No battle system or game overs? That’s okay because the story is interesting enough to not have one.

Verdict
There’s not much else I can say about Dandelion. The simplicity of it is fascinating, and ticks all the boxes of an interesting game. Only thing that is stopping me from giving it a perfect score is that I am not the target audience. It is for the aliens out there, yet to be discovered.
So please, Mr Creator (of the game), make more like this so it will make us humans look good when aliens discover us in the future.
