Short but sweet!

When I started playing this game I didn't know what I could expect:
The first thing that caught my attention is that this is a game about zombies. Everyone likes zombies!
The second thing instead was the great visuals and colorful graphic style.

The premise is simple: you are a survivor in a city filled with zombies and you have to escape. This game is short, VERY short, but looks really sweet and plays well.

In short this is a sort of adventure game (so forgot party management, experience levels, and especially save points!): you check your surroundings looking for loot, food and useful items, you interact with different objects and fight zombies with the usual first view turn based combat. Anyway, despite this being a short game there are some nice features: enemies are slow, so usually they are far when you start combat, and you cannot harm them if you do not have a ranged weapon. Then there are the special moves that cost stamina, for example with a baseball bat you can attack more than one opponent with a single strike if you want. And despite the enemies being zombie only, there's a nice variety, considering the shortness of the game (and I believe they have different stats too).
The zombies, like in some movies, are slow quite weak taken individually, especially if you possess some kind of weapon (there are only a couple, the gun is VERY powerful but has limited ammo), but if there are a ton of them you will be in deep trouble! Anyway nothing forbids you to fight the entire horde! (I guess that zombies would keep coming until you die, but there was a particular location in which I was not that sure)

Someone here looks familiar...

There's a lot of attention to the details, you can easily finish the game with a good ending (or a bad one too!) in a short time if you make a couple of choices, anyway there's a lot to explore, and this isn't immediately apparent. I'm sure in fact I've still to find all the endings and all the secrets and easter eggs, and I'm on my eigth run right now! So yes, it's a game that asks you to experiment and try different choices. The more you will find and the more choice you would like to try, and since there is no save option you will have to restart each time. But no worries, I said and I meant it, it's quite short even if some runs I did to earn a particular ending took much more time than others.

This is a little game, sure, so don't expect a long story, lots of characters or a detailed survival system. Dead Again somehow reminds to me those games in which you have a limited time but a lot of actions can be done to determinate the distiny of the protagonist.

What I did not like? Hm just a couple of things: for example if you have a gun the normal attack is the gun, so you are forced to use it even if you have another weapon, if I am right. I'd have preferred to have the gun as a usable item or special attack, instead, but that's me. Then the slow walking speed, especially during the zombapocalypse...well I guess he would run!
And then I did not like the shortness since it's such a nice little gem, I liked the different locations, the graphics style used for scenarios, characters and facesets and the little details ( like, for example, how many things are different depending if it is day or night, for example). It fits the genre, and looks both good and original, compared to most others Rmk2003 games.

It's difficult to judge this game, but my vote is 3.5! I wanted more, but what I saw and played was enjoyable and fun. Recommended.

8th run? Nice! I'm so thrilled that the game is being fully played! And yes.. there's quite a few endings players might not have found yet. But I do not think they're worth playing again and again to find out.
You found out the sewers, imo, you've completed the game.

Anyway, I'm happy you enjoyed the game, thank you!

I do not know, there were some similar endings (escape alone/escape with survivors),I got both the Dog Ending and the Dandelion Ending, I guess the only area I never explored fully were the sewers but I don't know if there was something else hidden there.

Oh and I feel ashamed since I gave a lower vote than the other guy!!!

Anyway yes, one of the best short games I played. Gotta try Dandelion, then.

There's nothing else in the sewers beyond some collectibles I think. You can get an ending if you just keep going to bed every day, though it's more of a game over. Still, I'm fairly sure it's what the first symbol to the left in the endings guide represents. Either that or the phone booth ending (if you go in there during the zombie attack). I don't believe there's anything else you missed, though.

It's okay, the game's average is still at 4 stars so we're good ʘʘ

Yep I got all these. I even did the "suicide in bathroom". I expected something would happen if you killer enought zombies during a Zombapocalypse or finding something in the north east area of the sewers (there is a room with lots of zombies, some eating too, but I guess nothing more)

I was close so I agree with your rating and review. Maybe I am more forgiving with older games... anyway I just wanted a bit more, there are no other flaws.
Oh nice, you guys found the telephone booth gameover after all? That might have been one of the more obscure one imo haha

The sewer segment used to be a bit harder to get to. Initially you needed the backstore key THEN activate the Z-horde. I was afraid it would be missed out so I changed a switch/variable or 2 to make it easier to find.

I think it was my 3rd or 4th run (first two were escape by truck/bike). I went there immediately after provoking the horde. I guess expected something weird to happen, but...no.

Well I did exactly that: first the key and then the horde! I discovered this late because I was sure that the place was a deathtrap like the apartment. I was wrong (again!).
