Two nations, Acre and Arondight, war with each other for decades before a truce is finally realized. Magic and technology exist together as people excavate from ruins left behind by the Celestials, an ancient and mythical race once thought to have ruled the planet from the heavens. Their powers are harnessed and re-fashioned by the people of these nations, but those who would abuse them for their own ends begin to appear. The underground criminal organization in Acre known as the Crimson Hands promotes its newest agent, Garrett, a man with great physical and mental aptitude. As events unfold, Garrett embarks on a quest to uncover his mysterious past and save the planet from impending doom.

This game pays homage to the old Final Fantasy games from the early to mid 1990's. The story is original but follows very similar plot beats and game mechanics. If you've ever played Final Fantasy 4, 5, or perhaps even 6, you should feel right at home here. Overall, this is a low to medium difficulty game using an ATB system with about 15-20 hours of content, depending on how much or how quickly you get through it. The game makes extensive use of plugins, mostly Yanfly Engine, and the standard RTP, with a few extra sprites, animations, and tilesets gathered from around the interwebs. A huge thanks to everyone who provided these assets.

Features include:

-Random battles which use an ATB system

-Earn JP to learn new skills and increase stats. Each character has a unique skillset and fulfills a certain role

-Energy is used to fuel special attacks, while some character spend MP to cast spells. Energy Modes allow you to change how a fighter gains Energy during battle

-A three row system is used to alter how characters battle, and they can change rows even during battle

-Build up the Limit gauge and use parts of it to unleash devastating Limit Breaks. The gauge is a party resource, so you must decide when and which Limit Breaks to use in a given situation

-All battle actions are fully animated with Yanfly's Action Sequences

-Linear story with a number of rewarding sidequests and powerful items to find

-Yanfly's Options Menu is included to tweak certain options, including window skins and fonts, as well as gamepad support

Version 2.0 Update

I apologize for this taking so long. I was originally just going to fix a bug that some people found and then things spiraled out of control. I should have just fixed the bug first and released that right away instead of rolling out a big update.

Anyway, quite a few changes here, notably that buff and debuffs now change raw damage dealt and damage taken values rather than stat percentages. My reasoning is that making a buff percentage based means that it's less effective if the stat is low and more effective if the stat is high. Same goes for Speed, so the buff for that increases Speed by a set amount instead of a percentage.

Also, the Life Tap skill is gone and replaced with the simpler Holy Nova. Enjoy.

Map touchups, minor corrections, slight enemy AI adjustments, and a bug fix round everything out. Thank you for playing. And please let me know if there are any bugs, I promise to iron them out within days rather than months.

Nice to see it here. I`ts one of my faovorite (epic) Rm games. Have yet to play it to the end, but a playtesting came in the way. So many games that it is hard to find the truly great one.
I seen several people on the forum have the same problem as me. The game shuts off and says not enough memory. My machine as with all the other peoples does not have a memory problem !! Something wrong with the game - you said you were going to try and fix it - did you ? I really want to play the game last time I saved after every battle (470) just so I could keep playing in case it shut down !! Please help !!
You somehow messed up the Overdriver. More in my PM.

I advice to sell all duplicates before you install the update.

Edit: The new Overdriver can still be stolen on the floating island. But all old Overdrivers are lost.
Edit 2: You cannot sell the Overdrivers, neither the old nor the new.

Thank you for pointing that out. One thing I can count on is my lack of ability to correct minor oversights that can break the game.
Some more "bugs":
Acre Relic Shop (part 2): There is still an empty slot for 0 Gold to buy. Propably the old Overdriver. Please check the shops with that item.

Once you enter the battlefield during that part, the gate has lost some tiles.
I got black screen in Pirate Cove after I slayed Leviathan :(

Like right after the battle, or do any events play and then screen fades to black? Can you still hear music or open the menu?

After the events play, Barth gets the gun and then the screen fades to black. And yes I can hear the music and open the menu.

So I just moved my character in random directions and managed to get out of the map and everything backs to normal now.
great game, well developed, logged in 70 hours! Hammer Knife is funny. I decided to take out God Slime before facing Mantorok. that might have been a mistake, because i ended one hitting the final boss. but i like being able to one hit final bosses! :P
The included walkthrough can't be opened. I tried different programs but no dice. Any ideas?
I think you should modify energy modes, as far as I am right now stoic, healer, tactician and sufferer suck badly, at least increase their energy gain per action a lot to compensate.
EDIT. Bug: the bestiary entry after zombie which I suppose is the boss from the pyramid doesn't appear after beating it, also the forest dragon entry doesn't appear after beating it.
EDIT2. I think I found the cause of the bug, it's indirect damage like hemorrhage that causes the entries to not register.
EDIT3. The helmet key is bugged, I do have it but the doors marked for it don't open.

As a .docx file, it can be opened with pretty much any version of Microsoft Word, even the free online version. But I was thinking it might be easier for everyone to convert all the text to .txt because just about everybody has NotePad, WordPad, etc.

I'll look into Energy Modes in the future for sure. I've tweaked them here and there but it's hard to balance it all because everyone's play style and tactics are different.

As far as the bestiary goes, thanks for finding this. Hemorrhage is literally the only ability in the game that deals periodic damage capable of killing the target, so I had no idea this was happening. The bestiary is handled by a plugin, so I'm not sure if I can fix it, but I will add it to the "Bugs/Unintended Effects" section of the version history.

For the helmet key, is this happening for every door or just specific ones? Is anything happening when you interact with the door, or is it telling you the door is locked even when you have the key?

The doors acts as if I don't have the key, though I fiddled a bit with the save editor and added the other key, it worked after the second attempt so maybe you got the wrong key, I don't know why there are two helmet keys but it worked.

I have no idea why there are two Helmet Keys either. All of the doors that require the key check for item 119 in the database. However, the chest which now has the Helmet Key uses item 31, which is that other unnecessary Helmet Key. This has been fixed, so I thank you for bringing this oversight to my attention.

As for the Bestiary problem, this is happening because death is handled slightly differently when an enemy dies due to Hemorrhage damage. The Hemorrhage state simply checks if the target is dead and then makes them perform the regular death animation, but this happens before anything else checks for the enemy dying, including the bestiary. It's been changed so that enemies are now added to the Bestiary by encountering them, you don't have to kill them anymore.

But another consequence of this is that certain enemies and bosses have death routines, and death due to Hemorrhage can skip these as well. It's unlikely to happen but it is unintended, so I'm working on a fix now.
I got the helmet key but I cannot open any door.

Would you please show me how to open the door?

The update changes the door events to look for the correct key in your inventory, which you don't have. The problem is that when you opened the chest with the key, it gave you the wrong one because the database has two Helmet Keys (an oversight on my part). As noted above by another user, you can use save editor to put the correct key in your inventory. It's item number 119.

I did added item 119, And It works. Thank you.
In Lena's sidequest, I rather have Minerva like in the old version than Wings of Time like in the new version.

Reasons are
1. Lena's HP is low and cannot be upgraded using JP. So she need good armor to protect her from strong physical attack.
2. Minerva also gives her Magic and Spirit.
3. Lena can learn speed using JP.
4. Lena can use Haste so Wings of Times is not neccessary for her.
5. Wings of time and Three of Stars both she can get from synthesis.
6. In other sidequest, Everyone got uniquie weapons and armors except her sidequest
7. Lena cannot use shield so the only way she can protect herself is through good armor.

The other Minerva I use on Phoebe because she and Lena share the same weakness (HP, Vitality) and same strength (Magic, Spirit).
