The world was formed by opposites. The most fundamental forces have an opposite. And in this case they transform into each other.

If you want to play the Plot Demo:
-A link for the Plot Demo is in the download section.

Plot:
It all started with a bet. Figis, a boy of the Fighter class, bets he can save the kidnapped princess and the world as Heta, a girl of the Healer class, comes to his weapon shop wanting to buy a healing staff. They form a party with Nion, a Ninja, and Maoleen, a Mage, they meet in the nearby Harmoni City. The party journeys to save the princess on the usual quest...until the real heroes show up...

In the past:
Order, the god who brought tranquility to the world, guided teams of his 4 chosen heroes every 100 years to defeat the immortal dark lord, Pandemon. The heroes had to gather the essences of Strike Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind to face the dark lord. Every time the dark lord has been defeated, but Pandemon rules Death and thus can never die. So he returns every 100 years and orders his servant, Paradox, to kidnap the princess to mark his return.

This time:
The party of Figis, Heta, Nion, and Maoleen might be the Heroes of Order. But probably not. Order says they are not, but rather the other team. But the princess is unsure if the image of Order can be trusted. So she gives the party a title so they won't get as confused with the ones called the Heroes of Order: True Heroes.

The Party:
-Heta is a fan girl of the legends and wants to prove herself.
-Figis with energy and ego wants to win a bet and be a hero.
-Nion is focused and secretive, but he seems to be motivated by treasure.
-Maoleen is...quirky and wants friends.
So arguing among the party is inevitable as they cooperate and learn to work as a team.

The World:
In a world where time waits for you, there are 4 classes: Fighter, Healer, Ninja, and Mage. Everyone belongs to a class. These classes determine everyone's stats and skill potential. People have to practice the skills of their class to be able to fight or use magic. Only a select few are blessed with the ability of a hero to level up and get strong really fast just by fighting...The party has to stumble upon a mystic item early on to give them this ability.

The Quest:
The four face dangerous monsters, bandits, powerful organizations, and obstacles on their journey to claim the essences. They also face a rival party and inverted shrines, reflections of the shrine within each shrine of its opposite element. The ability to level up they stumble upon seems to be making them grow strangely. They are developing into their opposite form: The Fighter and Ninja become the Healer and Mage respectively and vice versa. Also while they invert they become the weakest in their party at their former strength but the strongest by far at their former weakness.
The True Heroes banter and fight on through the quest and find that the mystic quest of the prophecy is more than what it appears to be (and is hardly that) as they uncover the truth...

Gameplay:
Inversion is a puzzle heavy RPG. The puzzles are solved by picking the character with the right skills and having them lead the way and interact with the obstacle they can deal with. (Examples: The Fighter can smash splintered logs and barrels. The Healer can make plants grow. The Ninja can dismantle traps. The Mage can blast elemental obstacles.) Luckily, with just a press of Q and W (L and R on a controller) the party shuffles around easily. And you can jump across gaps and holes by using the interaction button.

Different characters can deal with different obstacles.
As the characters' classes invert they will have the skills for more advanced obstacles.

Overworld:
The overworld is an area selection screen that is easy and intuitive to traverse quickly. The trials of the trails and towns you can enter must be overcome before they can be passed to go to later areas.

The task required to access a closed path will appear if you try to go that way.

Inverted Shrines:
The Elemental Shrines have an alternate side to them known as Inverted Shrines. An Inverted Shrine is a shadow of the normal shrine with many rooms of the same shape, but of the style and puzzles of the opposing element.
Below are the rooms of the first Elemental Shrine: the Strike Shrine. After going through the normal side the group becomes trapped inside and must discover the Inverted Shrine to escape.

The role of the inverted shrines in the quest varies from shrine to shrine.

Battles (Still in planning):
-Turn-based battle system heavy emphasis on elements and boosts.
Every element has an opposite:
Strike (Normal physical attack) vs Lightning
Fire vs Ice
Wind vs Earth
Light vs Dark
Water vs Arid (Dehydrating attacks that dry enemies out to a damaging degree)
These are planned to do x2 damage to enemies of the opposing element.
There will also be a cycle of strength:
Lightning > Water > Fire > Wind > Arid > Strike > Ice > Earth > Lightning
A superior element is planned to deal x1.5 damage to the target and take x.5 damage from attacks of the weaker element.
States are intended to be varied and play a big role in making enemies vulnerable and allies stronger.
A lot of what can be done in battle will have a counterpart in solving map puzzles.

Other:
You can skip cutscenes. Hold Q and W (L and R) and then press any button while holding to continue the cutscene during dialogue to skip the whole cutscene. (It does not work for every piece of dialogue, but it works on almost all of the long ones.)

Characters:
The characters' artwork is heavily from RPGMakerVXAce defaults. And supplement artwork of these characters from online sources is added. Primarily in terms of emotional faces for the characters of a matching artwork style. (All resources used are listed at the bottom.)

What's Ready:
A 'plot demo' is ready to be distributed. This is designed to show the concepts of the game in terms of maps, puzzles, and plot. There are no random battles in the plot demo and the scripted fights are just place holders.
