This is a standalone sequel to FF6 which I am developing. It takes place 100 hundred years after Kefka's downfall. The followers of Kefka now live in tents in a wasteland near what used to be Vector and its ruins. The Kefkites live in complete poverty waiting the return of their god; Kefka, holding on to the belief that one day he will return and restore them. The story follows Augustus and his son Ceaser who set out on a journey to infiltrate the Magitek Facility which they believe holds the secret to reviving magic and their subsequent redemption.

The Returners now dominate Gaia, who have grown corrupt through overindulgence and hubris, stand opposed to Augustus and his aims. Their ability to dominate Gaia has only expanded as their growth in technology has expanded by leaps and bounds through the discovery of minerals in Narshe. The revival of magic threatens their way of life and also their very existence as the memory of the destruction of the world is still fresh in their mind. One thing is certain, as Augustus departs his austere camp the world of Gaia will never be the same when the world of balance once again is shaken.

The battle system will be based off of Esper collection. Each Esper will only be used by a certain character allowing that character to build a certain trait much like the original; except, not everyone can equip a certain Esper. At a point in the game you will have to hunt down Espers and kill them in the right order. Each Esper will give you a certain advantage over other Espers similiar to Mega Man games.

There will be four worlds: World or Order, World of Ruin, World of the Espers, and the Moon.

Game features:

An all new cast of character plus old characters also return.
Join the hunt for Espers.
Gameplay is based on scavenging and conserving as much as possible.
Travel to the moon.
Gameplay is difficult and sometimes unforgiving.
Multiparty tactical battles.

Developing this game in 2d has actually helped me develop the 2.5 commercial version. I’ve decided to continue development of this game. When I reach the point in its story line in the game I’m currently working on I’ll come back to this.

I am curious how you plan on going about transforming the RPG Maker MV default graphics into a world that reflects that of Final Fantasy VI. I've seen the current production, and honestly, it needs work. I have years of level design/mapping experience under my belt (my specialty, for which I've been paid to promote RPG Maker 2000) and while I don't necessarily believe in this project, I do feel compelled to at least prod about its development.

I see you have a Patreon for your work, so in return, I'll say I'm available to hire for game development purposes. We can negotiate our terms.
The problem with this is... Well...

I think the plot is great for a sequel to FFVI. Its realistic, sort of. I like the idea where there are still cultists in the world waiting for kefkas rwturn. Probably not a good idea to have it take 100 years after, but that could be worked on.

The graphics being used is terrible, though. The different resolutions don't work.

Espers also cannot exist in this remake, well maybe they can. Espers faded away at the end of FFVI, but what if their souls were transfered back into the esper realm.

There's a lot that could be done with this fangsme. And it could work.
In this sequel the Esper's world still exists but the gate was destroyed and sunk underneath the sea with the destruction of the world of order. Not all the Espers went through the gate.

With the different resolutions, I was going for an Octopath Traveler look....if that's possible. I'm noob so I'll do the best I can. Are you talking about the battle resolutions or something else. Could you be more specific so I can possibly change something.

With the 100 year difference, I wanted a time frame where things begin to simmer between the Kefkites and the Returners. The Kefkites are allowed to live at the mercy of the Returners and I want them to rebel against that notion.
Soon my first demo will release with the rehauled graphics and combat system.
I gave a new download link. I locked the FPS at 30 to help with lag. I also fixed some minor glitches regarding transfer events.
I played this game for 20 minutes and I did not enjoy it.
Basically, the first 10 minutes are made of nonstop text-spam and I did not enjoy reading that. The other 10 minutes I spent was the first encounter which was a real pain to fight. Caeser and Augustus can't even damage the enemy.
I don't think that a fangame sequel of Final Fantasy 6 should be made with RPG Maker MV. The menu is unfitting and the font never has been nice to watch.
If i made a FF6 fangame, I'd easily go with RPGMaker2003. The battle system is basically the same by default and it is the easiest way to get the real FF6 atmosphere.

Finally, to say something positive, at least the story seems to be not so bad.
I would not continue making this project in RPGMV. It's the wrong engine for such a game. But that's only my feeling about that maker.

You'll do the right decision.
They can't damage the enemies because u didn't use the right strategies. All the weapons you receive are from fellow kefkites. Talk to them to receive the equipment you need to survive in the wasteland. Ceasers shock sword is effective against drones. The drone is effective against beasts. People you speak to tell you this but I don't think you spoke to them. Augustus marksman ability is also a powerful attack. Pick up .50 cal ammo from the psycho secretary. I completed the first part in 3 and a half hours. It is definitely doable.
I've been working on addressing all the complaints I received after the initial demo. Will try to release an updated demo soon.
Things I changed in latest demo:
1. I got rid of all the high res parallaxes and replaced them with 16bit.
2. Added battle animations.
3. Increased walking speed with use of certain armor.
4. Fixed intro to show rather than text spam
5. Filled up map, they were rather large without much in them.
6. Changed text to make it look more ff6-ish.
I've done alot of work since the first demo. Please leave feedback if you download the demo. Only then can I change and improve the game.
The latest demo contains at least 10 hrs of gameplay.
The free version of my game will be finished next month. I will attempt to develop a commercial version of my game on UE4 changing the story where necessary to avoid copyright issues. The free version should contain at least 15 hrs of gameplay.
My game is finished. I hope you enjoy.
I added a skip intro option, but it caused a bug where the game would freeze if you left camp in the beginning. Fixed now. I also changed Caeser's sprite sheet.
Is this only a demo?
And would not have full version, better wait for it to release :)

The full version will be commercial and released on unreal engine 4 under a different name. I’m going for an octopath traveler look. Please enjoy the free version though.
