You have four days to explore The Wilderness and gather as many slabs as possble! Build the biggest tower and win the inheritence!

You are a Wild Child!

You play as “Dogskin” Dolomite. Guide Dolomite as they jump, hunt and eat!Bring as many Slabs as you can back to your Henge. Build a tower with as many "storeys" as possible! It's like a 3D Sanbdbox Collecthathon….in 2D!

Unga Bunga Skills!
Use Dolomite's Wild Child abilities to overcome the perils of the Stone Age!

  • Jump: use this to get to higher platforms and avoid hazards!

  • Animal Dash: Unleash your inner beast! Run like an animal with super speed.

  • Throw Rock: Every caveman understands the power of rock! Throw at beasts to hunt meat or protect yourself!

  • Carry: Dolomite’s strong arms can carry heavy objects!


Eat Meat: Get Energy
Adventuring takes a lot of energy! Carrying objects and Animal Dash will expend energy. Hunt for meat to top up!

  • Eat: Eating Raw Rabbit or Tiger meat will restore energy!

  • Cook: Eating meat while at a fire will cook it. Cooked meat boosts Dolomites energy and extend the energy meter!


Your Pet Ghost Dog!

Dolomite's weird pelt belonged to Dane. During a particularly harsh winter one of the family skinned Dane to help Dolomite stay warm. Ever loyal Dane won’t hesitate to help his master. He'll offer advice, and as a spirit Dane may have secret powers...

Project
Stone Age Storeys is a love letter to experimental 6th gen games like Pikmin or Cubivore and collectathon platformers like Mario 64 or Banjo Kazooie with a bit of Breath of the Wild sprinkled in. The visuals aimed to be something you'd see on Gameboy Advance or an early 2D Nintendo DS game.

This was an entry for the 2020 IndieWorldOrder CaveJam gamejam.

Game Complete!

Hey Everyone!

I've completed Stone Age Storeys! This was made for a game jam but felt it would be nice to share it here as well.

The game can be controlled with either keyboard or a gamepad(I'd recommend the Gamepad).Have fun running around the wilderness and collecting slabs, see if you can defeat the game's two bosses!

That's quite ambitious. You mentioned Pikmin. Does it mean the game has a strategy element to it? Or was it more of an inspiration for the game's tone?

Pikmin inspired the open areas, time limit and collection element(you carry the main collectable back to a home location). I also tried to aim for its atmosphere with the music.

I took small parts of the games that inspired it(like jumping, hunting, cooking and boss battles) that I'd think would fit this one's gameplay. So there's elements of Pikmin, just not the strategy. commanding or puzzles(same with the other games).
