As of now the game is completely broken and unbeatable, so please wait for the definitive version to release sometime in 2022 to start or continue playing. If you so choose, you can choose to play this version which is basiclly just a 15 hour demo for the definitive version. Just keep in mind that it's beyond broken and impossible to finish Thank you for your patience.

Trigger Warning: This game contains minor swearing, heavy innuendo, LGBT themes, implied sex, (fade to black) and some optional horror elements. You have been warned.

Synopsis

In the world of Zutara, there was once a great city known as Arcadia, where dragons and humans lived in peace. However, this all changed when a great blood-red meteor fell from the sky, the Crimson Meteor. The meteor wiped out Arcadia along with most of life on the planet, not only leaving few survivors, but also spreading feral beasts known as terrors across the land. This cataclysmic event was known as the Crimson Calamity, and would be remembered for all of time.

Nearly 1000 years later, the world had mostly recovered from the Meteor's impact, though terrors still walk the earth, destroying anything in their path. To handle the threat of the terrors, many groups of brave adventurers have banded together to fight the growing Terror menace and protect the many towns and cities that dot the landscape. The most prestigious of these groups are the Ferngulf Holy Knights, a group that a young man named Koros is working to join.

Koros lives in Ari Village, a small town located on the outer edge of Ferngulf, and lives a peaceful life working at his father's blacksmith shop and doing missions for the Knights in order to join their group. However, during Koros' final exam before he could join the knight's order, Koros stumbles across a mysterious spirit being who calls himself "Kairos," the "seraphim of time."

Kairos forcibly fuses with Koros, causing him to become a Dragonkin, beings who were once dragons but decided to take a human-like form in order to avoid a deadly plague, but can transform into their original dragon state for a limited time. Losing control of his newfound powers, Koros accidentally kills his spiteful uncle in self-defense, and for doing so is banished from his village.

With nowhere else to go, Koros follows Kairos' advice to seek out Archsage Amadeus, leader of the Church of Nargi, in order to learn of his grand destiny. Upon meeting with the Archsage, Koros learns that a noble from east Ferngulf named Baron Ozma seeks to re-create the legendary blade Ars Solaris in order to summon the Crimson Meteor once again. For what reason, that is unknown. To do this, he sent out his 4 female warriors, his "oracles," to collect the 4 shards of the Ars Solaris. Once gathered, the four shards will combine, re-creating the Ars Solaris, the legendary blade that was sealed long ago.

On his journey, Koros meets many new allies, like Tayo the enigmatic bandit-turned-priest, Zenith, the duchess of a town of monsters, and Stacy, a ditzy summoner's apprentice who is a Wingli, a race of winged humanoids who live high above the clouds. With these 3 new allies and the various powers they find along the way, will Koros able to stop Baron Ozma's diabolical plot and save the world? Or is there another foe working in the shadows? Find out in Meteo Chronicles, the first game in the Chronicles of Chronicles series and the first game in the Meteo Trilogy!

y long ago through mysterious means, though some say it was the witch queen Chili who was responsible. Ozma seeks to bring order to a world he deems as "weak," as he believes that only a world where only the strong survive can last forever. Ozma discovered their Animus (condensed magickal energy that gifts specific spells to it's user) during his teenage years, and the oracles have served him faithfully throughout the years as his personal servants, advisers, and even girlfriends. Garnet is the brash, energetic one. Nadia is the vain, pouty one. Aria is the calm, smart one. and Azari is the angry, tsudere-like one. Alignment: Lawful Neutral

New Update!

Hello everyone. A new update has been added for Meteo Chronicles, hopefully fixing the last few game-breaking bugs this game possesses in order to make it fully playable from start to finish. Here are all the new features, changes, and bugfixes added in the new version.

New Features
-Added in an optional dream world where you can refight all bosses including missable ones to grind for rare drops and complete the bestiary if you missed anything. (like the encounters in Zerithia pre-Zenith and the hidden fight with Arte.)
-Added an updated soundtrack so all songs are now all HD quality. (previously the game used some 16-bit/32-bit songs, which have been replaced with high quality remixes for the most part in order to create auditory consistency with the RTP songs.)

Changes
-Removed internal quest initiations for faster loading.
-Added in notifications whenever something changes in the world or a new quest opens up.

Bugfixes
-Fixed spelling and grammar errors.
-Fixed bug where the screen would fade to black after the ending cutscene of Chapter 6 and would not ever fade back in.
-Fixed a game-bug involving self switches that cause you to become unable to interact with the blacksmith so you could activate the Ars Solaris cutscene.
-Fixed a bug in the final scion fight so that the countdown to their ultimate attack would actually appear.
-All songs now loop properly in engine, not just the RTP ones.
-Fixed bug where the battle music would not go back to normal after the fight with (spoilers) in Stacy's dream sequence.
-Fixed bug where the battle music would not go back to normal after fighting ThiefMaster27 in the final dungeon.
-Fixed bug where the NPC near Ari could still be interacted with after he disappears.

I fixed both the glitches you mentioned. You're welcome!
Thanks for fixing the last problem but there is another one, this time the game freezes after the battle event with the Mecha jailer.
Is there a way to reduce random encounters? I get them at every 5 steps.

@LadyXena Okay I look into that right now.

@Darshanaveyond1234 That shouldn't be the case unless you are really unlucky, and even then it wouldn't be 5 steps per encounter. RPG Maker works in that you set a maximum amount of steps before an encounter happens on a map and then a random encounter can happen anywhere between 1 step and the maximum you set with the chances being raised the closer you are to the maximum amount of steps, where the encounter rate would be 100%.

However, I am using a plugin that enables a minimum encounter rate which for my game is 10 steps. So at minimum you should only have a random encounter every 10 steps but that shouldn't happen that commonly because getting an encounter at 10 steps every time is incredibly unlikely. I also don't know how common encounters actually are since you didn't send a video, and I also don't know what map you were on where you complained about the encounter rate. The encounter rate shouldn't be nearly as high as you say it is. I'm pretty sure you're just exaggerating. Of what I've tested, the encounter rate for Meteo Chronicles is about average when it comes to RPGs most commonly being around 30-40 steps for most areas.

Edit: Also yes, you can reduce random encounters. There is a relic called the "Smelly Incense" which lowers the encounter rate by 50%. There is also the "Dubious Incense" which completely disables random encounters.

Edit 2: @LadyXena Okay, I checked the scene, and I didn't notice any problems at all. Can you please tell me what's the last thing that happened when the game crashed? Then I might be able to pinpoint the glitch more accurately instead of
something vague like "after you fight the mecha jailer." Is it immediately after
the fight? Is is during the fight once the boss goes down? Is it due to a move route error? Is the game freeze after going to the world map or before? I need to know these things in order to fix this glitch and other future glitches. Thanks.
I'll give this a try. It looks a funny
I like the look of this game. Will give a try and give my honest thoughts. However, it is clearly legendary game already because it have you fight slimes as in Dragon Quest lol.
I really like your game but there is still a bad progression locking bug i was reading through the pages and you replied to somebody saying that you fixed a certain bug aka the bug where after you get the sword stolen blah blah blah you still have to go to ozma keep but i cant go there and im using 1.10 version of the game when i try to go through there is guards standing in my way i literally cant do anything also the drop rate for the dragongems is non existent i even used the theif skill king of theifs they dont have them but a sword and bux and items that double the drops and I cant get them from the drakes

@Yunalesca Yeah, you fight slimes in the beginning, but isn't that basically every RPG ever made? It's always either slimes or goblins as the first enemies, and very rarely kobolds lol. It's not like fighting slimes in the beginning is exclusive to dragon quest or anything.

@zztoastyzz22 Okay, I'll look into it. Both problems should be fixed in the next update.

Edit: Okay, I've identified and fixed the glitches. Exporting the update now. Bugfixes should be available by the end of today. (Likely around 7:30 EST) Stay tuned!

Sorry I'm late with the update I promised. It's 10:00 PM where I live (EST) when I promised the update 3 hours ago, so sorry about that. I got sidetracked having dinner with my family and publishing a separate project to RMN. (which took me about 2 hours to do) But the update should be out now which fixes all the issues you should have. Also, I highly recommend going back to a save before the Ars Solaris got stolen as if you move your save over to 1.1.11 and head to the world map the cutscene will be glitched and might trigger a soft-lock so yeah. If you can't do that, position your character right on the path between the Eternia and East Ferngulf regions, (south of the Frozen Crypt) save the game, and then update your save, which then the cutscene should play just fine.

Okay, got it. The glitch in Castle Naughtmare is probably another transfer error. I get to fixing it right away. However, you don't actually obtain a dragongem in Ozma Keep. You only get one in Mt.Gaea as a 100% drop from a fire drake. Can you please tell me where exactly you got the dragongem so I can fix the glitch? Also, just to let you know if you enter Mt.Gaea with the fire dragongem in your inventory you will learn the skill. Thanks!

sorry for the late reply but i got the dragongem from the gargoyle in ozma keep the kaizer dragongem
I also (still) can't learn the Fire Dragon skill by stealing Fire Dragongems from Fire Draken in Mt. Gaea in version 1.1.12 (by the way, the drop rate for Fire Dragongems is nowhere near 100%, even with Master Orb equipped and passive item drop bonus from using/mastering classes).

Maybe the problem is that I already had Fire Dragongems in my inventory before the latest version, so the game doesn't register a new Fire Dragongem as the first one. Another reason could be that I already purified a Fire Draken for the side quest in Zerithia. Edit: Finally starting sub-chapter 4-3, which I hadn't done before, didn't help.

Edit: The same still applies to Kaiser Dragongems carried by Gargoyles in Ozma Keep in version 1.1.12.

Consequently, Ammadeus still tells me to look for Dragongems, despite me having several Ice, Thunder, Fire and Kaiser Dragongems in my inventory.
I'm more and more annoyed by how bugged this game is. My latest frustrating experience:

Ozma Keep, Garden of Tranquility: If the player sleeps with Koros on the bed, the cutscene loops endlessly. When choosing Tayo's scenario here, the game freezes after the second battle. During Zenith's scenario, Tayo's sprite isn't shown inside the pocket dimension, the game can't load audio/bgm/Love%20in%20the%20Air.ogg, and the scenario ends with a black screen. During Stacy's scenario, the images of the scions that appeared last don't disappear, the NPCs in Aetheria utter their usual dialogue lines, which doesn't make any sense, and the dialogue panel "It's destroyed... everything... destroyed..." can't be clicked away (repeats itself endlessly).

In summary, all four scenarios end in a game-breaking manner. It seems at least one of the scenarios must be completed in order to get (another) Small Key, so this isn't just a matter of missed lore.

@Spearmidine @zztoastyxx22 I've fixed all the glitches you mentioned in the newest version, 1.1.13. Thanks for keeping me informed of all the glitches happening. Enjoy.
Although I was finally able to complete Ozma Keep, there are still a lot of issues concerning this dungeon, the most severe being:

- When the party dies at the hands of the Red Baby at Ozma Keep, the game can't load the (missing) picture img/pictures/YouDied%20(1).png.

- Ozma Keep, Garden of Tranquility: Tayo's scenario still freezes the game, this time after the fourth fight. Furthermore, finishing either scenario (although I'm only assuming this in Tayo's case) spawns the player inside the wall (at least this issue reminded me that I can teleport myself out of a situation like this one; on the other hand, it probably isn't a good idea to allow the use of Teleport during these scenarios or after defeating Ozma). By the way, winning the boss fight during Stacy's scenario "rewards" the player with a game-over (might or might not be intentional).

- Ozma Keep, Garden of Azure and Vermillion: Choosing neither side results in a black screen after the treasure chest has spawned (Teleport to the rescue). Furthermore, this "Mystery Room" can be repeated, so the treasure chest can only be grabbed by standing right in front of it when it spawns or by returning later.

- Ozma Keep: After defeating the boss and triggering the cutscene at the entrance, the screen goes black (Teleport to the rescue).

- Ozma Keep: After defeating the boss and triggering the cutscene at the entrance: When trying to enter 2F (outside) again (which was impossible after defeating the boss, but before triggering the cutscene at the entrance), the party can't move and their sprites are invisible (Teleport to the rescue).

One Issue for which I would appreciate a fix rather sooner than later:

- When entering the door which requires the Outrealm Key to be opened, the player is spawned inside the wall.

Also, I still wasn't able to learn "Fire Dragon" by obtaining a Fire Dragongem from the Fire Drakens at Mt. Gaea (it's probably a save file "conversion" issue at this point), but from what I've read, Koros learns all of his dragon skills later (automatically) anyway. At least Ammadeus was already willing to give me the Chronoblade.

Edit 1: Another issue I just encountered:

- After leaving Paar to the south for the first time: Reentering Paar or using Teleport at this point essentially breaks the game, since the dead guards block Paar's southern exit.

Edit 2: Next issue:

- How am I supposed to navigate the rooms in Castle Naughtmare? I can't enter other platforms. Also, walking into the barrier in the northeastern (file 1) room leaves the player unable to move (see the issue above for why I can't use Teleport at this point).
