Doggy Dinner Time is a short adventure game where you take care of your cute dog. The environment is super cute, reinforced by a calm peaceful music. But don't let it fool you, they are some unpleasant secrets in this game.

The custom made graphics are really good and the game also has custom made music and some custom sound effects. It makes very appropriate use of the default sound effects as well.

I'll do my best to write this review without spoiling too much of the game but avoiding any spoiler while reviewing this game is just impossible. The game is good and takes about 15-20 minutes to complete... so stop reading this review and go play it if you don't want to get spoiled.

Be warned: SPOILERS AHEAD!

You control Olivia who wants to complete her to-do list before dinner. The tasks listed are simple and straightforward but the designer makes Olivia read them one after the other. You never see the complete list. This is a clever way to set a tiny bit of uncertainty about what's next on the list. As you explore the rooms, read carefully Olivia's description of her furniture for oddities.

In order to go out for a walk, you need to find the leash. When I found it, I immediately opened the menu to equip it on Doggy but the equip option was not functional. It would have been a nice "equip your gear" touch. On the other hand, the menu shows Olivia's 9999 HP compare to 1 HP for Doggy, a really interesting way to clue in the player on the role of each character. As you go for the walk, look carefully for visual clues and NPC dialog to know more about Olivia.

The basement contains very unusual elements and you only get to see them quite late (on purpose). I really like the sheet covering a big object which is never shown: this is an excellent way to raises the tension when the worst is about to happen.

If you paid close attention to every detail, you can play again to reach the good ending. This new play-through features subtle dialog and description changes as well as different ending.

This games is filled with well thought-out details like the mirror reflection and it's change of background for Doggy, the music that pause to emphasize suspicious events, the locked drawer that leaves an unresolved mystery even when you reach the good ending... and a nice comic relief when Doggy loots the toy chest.

Oh wow! My game is pretty short and I didn't really think much of it when making it, so it's a surprise to see such a pleasant review. It really made my day, thank you!
You've built a short but really good game. I can see you put a lot of efforts in your project.
Do you mean the drawer containing the special birthday treat?
