When Winter and Giles find themselves stuck in a cabin during a snowstorm, they discover its horrific history.

Wintertwined will be a narrative focussed, puzzle horror game.
You take control of Winter, a stubborn, people shy young adult, who's struggling to stay alive during an apocalypse. With the aid of Giles, Winter's parental guardian, they must work together to survive the night in the cabin.

In order to make it out alive, you'll have to solve puzzles and explore dangerous locations.

Wintertwined is currently in development and planned for a commercial release in 2024

Features:

• A slow burn mystery with multiple endings

• Original soundtrack by Harumi Makoto

• Puzzles with 3 difficulty levels

• Original spritework

Going back and improving

Small Wintertwined Update

I'll most likely be replacing the "on hiatus" status back to "in development" soon.

I've been having a much better time working on the game lately, going back redoing some of my oldest sprite works to better suit my current skill level.

I recently completely redid the main menu:

The original for comparison:

It's fun to look back at some of my older art and go "wonder if it'd look different if I did it a few years later."

Especially with this piece, since it was the first landscape I ever did. There's just a lot that bothers me about it, mostly the inconsistent pixel size and the slightly dubious perspective... I knew I had to change it.

I'm also going to attempt to add some more options (like a toggle for the talking bleeps sound effect, improved pixel perfect display and more)

The font has changed as well to a more pixel-like style, though getting it to look even slightly okay-ish is a nightmare. (MV is NOT good with fonts)

Well, that's about it for now, see yall next update!

Thank you so much! I'd really appreciate any help with testing, ^^ Once the first (demo) build is finished, i'll send it to you!
Just played the demo and wow, the atmosphere and the graphics are really well done. Did you draw everything yourself? :O it's crazy good! It was a little short, but it is a demo after all.

Some small little things I noticed, a lot of the sounds for certain things are a little...video gamey? Like the stock RTP sounds for certain things kinda makes it less intense.

Other than that, I'm really liking what I'm seeing and have played! Keep up the great work my friend :)

I did! The entire game was drawn from scratch, which is why the development time is so slow ^^,

I'll change many of those in the future! Which ones were the most distracting? I'll get to changing those first.

Thank you so much for checking it out and for the feedback!

The ones that really stood out to me where stepping on that piece of metal in the tunnel after climbing through the vent. And probably the one where you start a New game, I think it's like an Ice attack RTP sound effect.

The metal vent is one of the ones still on the ''Find a better sound effect'' list, and the other one is also a placeholder.

Thank you for telling me, I intend to make most, if not all sound effects original in the final release c:
I finally had some spare time to play your demo and... WOW! That was amazing!!! It was kinda short, not gonna lie, but really enjoyable to play! The graphics are wonderful (the forest was my favorite map) and I already like the characters! Dialogues were well written, and I can't wait to know how the story is gonna continue and all the backstory of how this everlasting winter came to be, and how Winter and Giles met!
Like KoopaKush said the sound effects sound kinda out of place and for me were too loud. The one which really stood out for me was when they put on the motorbike helmet.
Anyways, you've done such a great job, I can't wait for the full release! Good luck on the development!!!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

I'll get to work on those sound effects as well ^^, I've only recently started playtesting with headphones, so I completely get what you mean!

Hope the final product will live up to expectation ^-^
