Damn, dude. You've mastered RM2k3 more thoroughly in a few months than I have in a few years. I struggle with simple puzzle eventing sometimes!

I've noticed that some of your maps contain more tiles than my copy of RM2k3 supports, is that a feature of 2k9?

I've been playing around with resizing graphics from RMXP and RMVX recently, there are some on display in Moonsong. They take some fixing up to get working, but overall it's not too much work and the outcome can look really solid.

Seeing some of your process makes me want to point out one thing about Paint.net, which is that you can't paste with the background colour transparent. That's the only thing I miss from MS Paint. In paint.net you have to use layers. It's way more flexible, but honestly I preferred how fast it was in MS Paint. But that's the only thing I miss, haha
Thanks kaempfer, well I've been playing with 2k3 for a few years, it definitely wasn't a few months. I'll say this though, I'm pretty savvy with event commands just from figuring out how to make onix rift work, but I use nothing from the data base. I have a turn based system in mind that I'd like to develope at some point but I would literally have to learn everything the 2k3 data base has to offer. I actually have put thought into it and I'm pretty sure I could event it faster than figuring out all the quirks and combat calculations the data base has. I guess my point is, I'm confident on the eventing side of things, I couldn't make a moon song anytime soon cause I haven't put the time into that side of it.

Yeah, I have a couple saves in moon song. I think you've updated the download since then though so I need to re download and play through it. What's game time on moonsong?

That seems weird to me that paint.net is lacking transparent back ground. You know what though, I think asprite doesn't have that feature either. Or at least I haven't found it yet. I've watched other artists do pixel art and I'm starting to think my copy paste techniques are in the minority haha. I wonder though, if paint.net is big on plugins there has to be something there similar I would think.

Thanks for watching the videos dude, I really appreciate the comments too. It's nice to know if people are enjoying them. I'll keep making them as long as people are enjoying the content. I just did kind of a play through video for starless umbra. I posted it on DHM's latest blog just to try and throw some feed back his way. Any objections if I wanted to do one for moon song? I don't plan on doing a lot of "let's play" videos, I kind of like talking shop more, but I wouldn't mind doing one for moonsong if feed back is something you're into.

Thanks again for all your feed back and comments man, it's greatly appreciated.

By the way kaempfer, in moonsong you absolutely NAILEd the atmosphere you were going for. The old inhabited country side riddled with ruins. I feel like Everytime I attempt something similar I get a cluttered look. I'm truly envious of some of those maps my man. Nothing clashes and every map, 100x100 or 10x10, all looked like they got the same attention. That struck me most so far that I've played.
Oh, regarding the tile question. There's no extra tiles. I think the ultimate 2009 just presents the chipset in a different way so the tile pallette looks like it has more tiles available. It also has a floating feature so you can drag the tile pallette to anywhere you want on the screen. It's really cool, I've had a few questions asked about it. I'm surprised more people didn't know about it. When I found out about it I thought I was the only one not using it haha. It's pretty cool though. It has a feature where when you first boot up the program a pop up comes on with different facts and tips about the engine and different things about how 2k3 processes different events and shows different formulas within the default battle system. It's really cool. I like its presentation better than the official release. (Other than the additional enemy's commands the official release has included.)

I appreciate that! One big thing I'm always careful about is making sure graphics, no matter their source, match up and work together. I've even had people assume my from-scratch stuff was just another rip, which is high praise. Moonsong was in development for a long time, so a lot of those maps had a lot of revision. Some of the earlier maps were 100x100 maps pared down to 50x50 or even smaller, and so I got to pick and choose the best stuff.

Hmm, I'll have to look into this 2009 business. I know that when I opened up Onix Rift a bunch of the vines in the cliffs just didn't show up in the default tileset (one direction of vines did, but the other direction didn't), which is what made me think it could use larger sizes of tilesets. It's a shame there isn't a version that combines all the best parts of the various releases of RM2k3, since they all have something they do better.
