Cuties more bugs fixed, definitive download?

Thanks to Liberty's very entertaining stream, I was able to notice and fix more bugs.
The download has been updated to version 1.2 and it should be the final version unless more major bugs are reported.

-The game softlocked after the boss fight leading to the 2nd ending. All 3 endings should activate properly now.

-Dying against the boss is the only way to get a Game Over, which should work fine now.

-Bodibuldos was shown to be of purple color in battle. The proper color is now blue.

-The Bike Helmet doubled your Defense for a turn, which was pretty useless and bugged anyway, the boost lasting until the battle ended. It will now double defense for 3 turns.

-The HP numbers and gauge sometimes wouldn't update. It should be fixed now.

-You now have a higher chance of meeting the other guests in the Hallways instead of Rat Brats.

-The dialogue box Picture used to disappear after driving the murderer away. I finally managed to fix it.

-The secret passages are now noticeable.

-The suspect list in the menu now shows a "SUS" text next to the characters that have not be innocented, so you won't mistake them for being dead.
Due to poor eventing, I wouldn't be able to show dead characters in the menu without making hundreds of tedious adjustments.

Thank you to everyone who commented on the game page and played the game.
I hope that you will continue to enjoy it.

Cuties Bug Fixes, Updated Download

Thanks to Deckiller's bug report, I updated the download link and fixed two bugs:

-When your inventory was full, the item replacing the old one would always be a Wrench. The proper item will now be obtained.

-Dying against an enemy (not the boss) lead to a black screen freeze. The game will now properly move you back to the Hallways and replenish your health as was originally intended.

Download Available!

Version 1.0 of Cuties & Clues is now available!
I hope that some of you will enjoy playing it.

There is one known bug that I couldn't fix: At some point, the dialog box image might disappear. But the text remains and is readable, so it isn't a big deal.

If you find other bugs, please do report them.

Wishing you a safe investigation!
Enjoy!

Clues? A murder mystery

Cuties & Clues is partly inspired by two of my favorite board games from when I was kid: Clue and Mystery Mansion.

The most notable similarities with Clue are:
-Six playable characters each corresponding to a color.
-The Hallways area is connected to every room in the manor.
-Find and use up to 6 weapons.
-And the main objective of eliminating suspects until you expose the murderer.

As for Mystery Mansion, I always loved how the game looked: rooms were beautifully drawn on small cardboard boxes and you would race the other players to explore the mansion in hopes of finding treasure chests filled with gold and jewels.

A number of years ago I learned about the NES game Sweet Home and its English translation. It reminded me of Mystery Mansion and became one of my favorite NES games thanks to its impressive atmosphere and challenging gameplay.

Due to time constraints, I couldn't implement most of the ideas that I wanted. But I tried to capture the feeling that I had when I played Mystery Mansion many years ago.

Cuties! What game is this?

After I noticed the Kill the Cutie Halloween event, I wrote down several project ideas, whatever came to mind.

The simplest ideas were to make a game out of brief horror stories that I heard before, in which the protagonist, a cute girl, would be the victim of a vengeful spirit or a deranged stalker. Those might have been easy to make but didn't have any real gameplay.

I also thought of making a game based on the Killer Rabbit, a well-known embodiment of cute meets horrifying. My first idea revolved around other cute yet deadly animals fighting one another until they could challenge and dethrone the killer bunny.
Problem was, there was not much of a story to work with here.

I then thought of having cute animal mascots as the main characters of a mystery/horror game. The design document was written very quickly and I began production about a week after the start of the event.
And yes, the deadly rabbit is in there... in a certain way.

I've made decent progress so here's hoping that the game will be ready before the deadline.
