SEELE Games presents...

- Introduction -

It has been a rough year, that's for sure.
2020, I mean.

I couldn't manage to release a single full game during that time. The only thing I managed to release was a very rough Alpha demo (rough year, rough releases) of Karma Flow 2 - Tears of a Ghost.

I wanna change that.

The Lady Puppet will be a complete game, and will be released by the time the Seasons Event IV ends, or shortly after it ends anyway (a la PSYCHE Locke).

This experimental game, much like PSYCHE Locke was at the time, will be conceived in order for me to explore new territories and put emphasis on certain aspects I usually do not put enough emphasis on. In other words, it's a game that's meant to make me grow as a dev, hopefully, and test new stuff that will help me greatly with my main game, Karma Flow 2.

- About the game -

The Lady Puppet is a short 2D Dark Adventure game with emphasis on atmosphere, exploration, light puzzle solving and stealth.

The player takes on the role of the innocent Lailah Reah and will have to help her find a way out of Clawhill, a mysterious place that's apparently disconnected from the "outside world" and that's trapping her and all of the other "survivors".

Lailah will be able to walk, run and examine objects and documents scattered all around Clawhill. Certain items will allow Lailah to heal her wounds or progress through the game. Documents will, instead, give insights on the overall plot and backstory of the game. Collecting them will allow the player to uncover the story and to understand what's going on exactly.

When confronted with the enemy, the player will have to be careful not to get spotted by them, or else a chase sequence will begin. Enemies will be able to see and hear Lailah. Their pattern and effectiveness depends on the type of enemy.

There will be another small twist added to the gameplay. I won't spoil it to you, you'll have to play to see. :)

- Plot summary -

September 21, Autumn season. The season of changes.

Lailah Reah wakes up only to find herself trapped in a dark and dangerous place called Clawhill. For reasons she can't explain, she's "strung". Wires are stuck inside her wrists and her ankles, but somehow those don't limit her movements.

Despite being a model student and a nice person, Lailah lacks the courage to face the hardships that await her. But with the help of the Masked Woman maybe she'll be able to find the Spookhouse, the place that connects Clawhill to the "outside world", and escape from that nightmare.

Or maybe she'll perish? Maybe the Masked Woman should not be trusted?

Will a girl like her, always afraid and powerless, be able to survive?

Demo 1.4 available!

Hello, everyone!
It's been a while, hasn't it?

Just wanted to update y'all on The Lady Puppet's current development status.
The game is scheduled to be released in the following months!

In the meantime, I've finally prepared and released version 1.4 of the game's demo.
Does it differ a lot from the main game? Quite so.

While it still plays out exactly the same as the last demo, story-wise, it does carry some gameplay-related improvements.

Here's a quick changelog of what you'll find in version 1.4 of the Prologue Demo:
  • The ability to summon more than one companion at a time (AND USE THEM AS BAIT HEHE!)
  • You will now be able to bind inventory items to quick keys, in order to use them in-game without going through the game's inventory screen! You can now switch that lamp on/off instantly!
  • Lots of fixes, big and small! The game's chinese translation has been fixed and font won't be lost during gameplay, if you're reading a document and you decide to go back you won't be thrown off the inventory screen, etcetera, etcetera!
  • Lailah's big face in the screen's HUD is now smaller! Yay!
  • Small fixes to story related dialogues and documents.

I hope you'll like these improvements!
Look forward to the game's full release!

Thank you!
- Pat

Looking sexy! It's nice to see you coming up with something so different from KF but also very consistent to your style!

Arigato, Cal! :)
I tried to do something different but still OldPat-ish. Hopefully it'll be a good attempt!

(Not that it required any real effort, anything I do eventually is OldPat-ish, because I'm doing it xD)
OOH! This looks amazing! I can't wait to see more ^^

This game is very, very good! I can't wait to play the completed version. Recommended to all.
I just finished playing the demo now, and... I LOVED IT!!! Seriously, what a nice playing experience it was!!!
The thrilling and mysterious plot, always letting the player wanting to know more. The gameplay with the summoning, a really original idea (no idea how you programmed that honestly! I had a similar idea some time ago, but I wasn't able to do it with just events sadly). The mapping and the creepy athmosphere(that singing gave me goosebumps each time I heard it! I didn't have such a tense time while playing a game for a while!). And last but surely not least, the characters! They are well written. I honestly like Lucas, even if it's most of the time annoying.

EVERYTHING was good and made the game more than just enjoyable. I can't wait to play the final version! I honestly hope it won't be long before it comes out, I HAVE TO KNOW HOW THE STORY CONTINUES!!!
Nice job, Old Pat! A really amazing game you made here. Un applauso!

Wow! *_*

To be honest, I always thought I was very bad at making horror games. xD
Glad to know I still rock, hehe!

I didn't actually post my full thoughts here because i get lazy when writing reviews but now that it's come Misao time i must say OldPat you're making it hard for me to choose "Most Promising Demo" here. Okay, it's Lonely League, Nihilo or The Lady Puppet so far. Frick. This game is so tense, and bloody, and beautiful, and... gorgeous? It definitely has that cabaret vibe going for it that's unmatchable. The demo I played perhaps a couple bugs with the chasing mechanics, but in future demos that'll be improved, as OldPat shaves off all the bugs and polishes this to a beautiful sheen. Can't wait to play the final product. Wishing the very best for the commercial release happening later on! Yeah, this game... gorgeous. Bless.

What kinda bugs have you noticed in the chasing mechanic? I'm going to fix 'em
