Are you feeling stressed? Has life got you down? A trip to the Nebula Resort is what you need!

From a mountain hot spring to gorgeous crystal mines, equipped with bedding facilities and several other friendly guests, the Nebula Resort is a perfect cosmic getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Stay for as long as you like and enjoy the wonderful sights the resort has to offer. And when you're ready to leave, you can return. But you're always welcome to come again.

A Vacation In Nebula is a short walking simulator in a surreal space setting. The goal is to explore and find seven suns. It's mostly an atmospheric moodpiece without a story, meant to be a positive and relaxing experience. Most of the world is open from the start, so you can simply enjoy searching at your own pace.

Made for the 1.44 Floppy Disc Drive event, in which the task was to create a game that would fit on a floppy disk. It's incredibly short and shouldn't take longer than 10-15 minutes to clear.

Nice, I like a lot the "frame that frames" the action, it looks quite charming! I'll be sure to play it soon (because short! Me like short gams!)

I’m quite happy with the frame! I think it adds a lot to the aesthetic :D
Hope you enjoy!
Hello Frogge. Nice experience, atmosphere and messages. Congrats.
p.s.: Vehicle file is missing. I copied a character file from the char folder, renamed it to Vehicle and it worked.

Thanks for the kind words, and ahh, darn it, that's probably an RTP thing. Thanks for letting me know, I'll fix it tonight!
Easiest fix is to just got into the system tab in the database, and change the 'Boat', 'Ship', and 'Airship' graphics to any random charaset.

I think RPGmaker tries to load them whenever the program is started, so if they're still set to the default RTP charasets, it'll crash the program, even if no vehicles actually appear on any of the maps.
Woa, you really nailed the low palette 90s pc look, holyshit.
Great Work!

Done! New version should hopefully have that fixed now, thanks for letting me know how to fix it!

Thank you! That's exactly the look I was going for!

Aesthetic as all get out. Cool colors like this are lovely, and I'd been interested in this game's screenshots all event long. Absolutely on my to-play list. Also, extra Rachel Points for making the floppy disc "box art". They're like brownie points but less useful. <3

Here's some feedback:

Right from the title screen I could tell a lot of care was put into this game and that I was probably gonna have a good time playing. Love that dithering and the color pallet harking back to DOS games.

Just so you know, I played in full screen but changed the aspect to 4:3 so that it didn't distort the graphics. I care.

Beautiful music. Nostalgic, sad and relaxing all at the same time.

Love the frame around the game area and how the maps are built in a sort of surreal fashion.

It was so clever to keep the text in one line at a time at the bottom, not interfering with the screen aesthetic.

A place to relax? Man, I needed this, thanks.

A flipping curtain falls to reveal the next screen! That's cool.

It isn't always easy to figure out where you can walk and where you can't though.

Now the game is reminding me of the importance of keeping hydrated. Thanks game!

The inverted pillars and the balance of broken ones, really makes for a cool look.

You strike me as a very visual person.

I could be just me, but some of the text seems to scroll too fast for me to read it on the first try.

Everything will work out if I just hang in there. Unfortunately that doesn't work a lot of times :/

The gear puzzles take some time to figure out but they are manageable. I'm not sure it was a good idea to make the character able to walk on stuff that the gears can get stuck on since it makes the puzzle rules confusing.

Man, that part with the reflection looked good.

Your game also alludes to the state of the world, but it does so in a positive way, so it didn't pull me from the experience.

The level and HP in the save slots are symbols, that's cool.

The way certain paths are made clear through the use of arrows is very charming.

The use of black to frame the maps and delineate invisible walls was very well done.

I would've hidden a bonus path in the location behind that locked door with the old man in the waterfall. But that's just me :P

This part reminds me of the dream world in Twin Peaks.

That map with the sphinx and the waterfalls behind it looks specially beautiful. And it leads into a Japanese style garden!

The sound effects add to the experience. They really fit the mood.

I'm not too big on “self-help” stuff, but I can't complain about it much here due to how it's framed.

So the door that's unlocked is to return to the real world, clever. It reminds me of a certain PSX game.

We're even treated to a credits sequence! It's so uncommon to see one in RPG Maker.

Thus the curtain falls slowly.

What a relaxing little game. You nailed it. Quite enjoyable. And to think that this was created in this limited time-frame! Congrats!

Also, that gameprofile pic with the floppy looks awesome.

Unfortunately, even though this confused a few people, it was necessary for the puzzle. I was tempted to add another gear puzzle before that one that introduced the mechanic of the gears not being able to go over the rocks, but I was already fed up with trying to event them at that point. That's entirely on me, though.

You're spot on! That's what it was based on.

Thank you so much for checking it out, and for the kind words too! I'm really glad to see that you enjoyed it and that the visuals were as appealing as I hoped they would be!

I've got really bad news for you, Frogge. I had to nominate this game for the "Best Eye-Candy" Misao. Couldn't be helped.

You had it coming, man! You had it coming!
Relaxing little game. You walk around the purple area collection some suns and hear some motivating phrases from NPCs and other individuals. Had to quit the game early, because I cannot find the mine and thus the last two suns, however, I like what I saw. The game didn't force me to do much which was pretty chill. I recommend adding a map where you can see where all the locations are as well as path markers maybe to know where you can enter or exit a map.

Thanks for giving it a go! I figured the world was small enough that there wouldn't be a need for a map. The mines are to the north-east of the map with the door that requires all the suns, if you do decide to continue. It was definitely meant as more of a little meditative experience so I'm glad it gave you a chance to chill!
