UnBitten

Welcome to UnBit, a game that in my opinion is more a work of art and an experience than a real game. Whay do I say that? Well let's start from the beginning:

I don't know if you are aware but there was a game event named 1.44 Floppy Disk Drive challenge, and I reviewed some of the games, but with Unbit I was rather impressed, and now I will tell you why. UnBit is a really short RPG Tsukuru 2003 game that weights just 1.2 mb but will surprise you, I am sure.
In this game our alter ego is a simple white cube with two little eyes, and after a short introduction we have full control of this little "guy".

Ok, so there is no backstory, nothing at all, but it becomes soon clear that there are others "living white cubes" and also some stylized snakes that seems to act as their overseers/jalers. There are a couple of easy puzzles that I will not spoil you, since you have to learn by yourself, looking at the others... test subjects? I do not know if this is the situation, but this is what is looked at first.
And despite the simplicistic graphics it's an immersive and unnerving situation (since those who fail seems to totally disappear!)

Later you will leave the location with the snakes other test subject and enter another bigger area where you have to solve a longer puzzle that took me some time to figure out, anyway you cannot risk losing since it's a matters of tries. Again I won't spoil the fun to solve the puzzle and discover what happens next.

I'll only say that after that there is a part that totally impressed me since it's a first person section in a totally 3d world! Yes and this is still an rpgmaker game, so I wonder how this was made, in any case from here it's just some little steps to end the game with an abrupt final that raises probably a lot of questions, leaving a lot unexplained.
Or not?

Well what I recommend is to try the game, it took me 15 minutes from the beginning to the end, so it's a really short journey but clearly a bizarre one. Despite the limitations imposed by the event, this is a wondrous little gem, and now that you have read the review maybe you can understand what I meant when I wrote that this was more an experience than a game. I cannot even speak about writing since there are NO dialogues, but I suggest you to try and experience it, then!

Despite the minimalistic visuals, there are some interesting parts, the music is also quite good and eerie, but I think that in the end it's all a series of sensations and experiences that cannot be explained, yeah, just try the game. It's strange but also quite short so there isn't much else I could probably say.

UnBit is a little weird puzzle game. It's not difficult at all but I really admire some choices and their realization (ok, I am clearly speaking about the 3D part, of course, but also the little puzzle/tasks where you witness others doing, losing or winning, and then you get to take their place), because it's nothing that I could expect.
But did I enjoy it? Yeah, I did, it's short, there is no menu, options or possibility to save but you won't need them. It's worth mentioning that I had no issues, prblems or errors playing this game (and also no typos, but there are more or less a couple of sentences).

UnBit is an odd game, a strange adventure that every player may interpretate, so it's something that is quite difficult to rate or explain to those who still have to try it. Because of this I encourage to download and run it, in order to witness and experiment what it was done by the developer. It's original and bizarre but clearly inspired and creative. Deserves a 4/5 for the final result.
Not your usual game, maybe not even a game!

Thanks for the review, happy you enjoyed it.
I don't know about others, but I do understand
Well it's a "crescendo" ... at first I was "uhm ok... weird"
Then I was "It's interesting!"
And at the end "Whoa! How they did this?"
