Divorce, drinks and demons!

Here we are, once again reviewing another Severed Water episode.
I'm always playing these games trying to understand something about the setting, that's why these are so addictting... will I learn something new about the series and get some answers? Let's see!

This game is a short story in which we play as a divorced christian woman that lives with her daughter and her dog. She is he dealing with the aftermath of her divorce, and seems obsessed with water (both drinking and bathing) and light, anyway soon it seems that she have to face her demons. But is this a dream or reality?

The puzzle is pretty nice. Gave me some Die Hard 3 vibes, but without John McClane!

Basically the game can be divided into three parts: the first is dialogues, using items and walking around, and that is the only section in which you can save. It's pretty basic and easy since the entire game is set inside a house of four rooms (three screens/maps). The second (and probably main) part is a puzzle, where you have to fill a bottle of water (at least in the beginning, then things will become more complex and harder with the addition of wine!) at an exact leve. If you ever watched Die Hard 3 you probably remember the water puzzle, but here the bottles are all identical (no bigger or small one), and there is also the possibility to buy more water (and later wine, that costs more of course!).
Finally we have the third and last section that consists in demon hunting (they do not attack and just run away, so don't worry)! It's possible to buy some upgrades (I used just one, and I don't even think it's necessary... but this is the opportunity to play more water/wine puzzles since this increade the currency that can be spent in upgrades), and then the woman has to hit the creatures while avoiding a spotlight with a sort of eye in the centre. The darkness will make these parts a bit difficult, anyway it's not too hard, and if I remember correctly there are three parts in which you have to hunt the demons.

Ok, let's speak about the rest: visually the game is nice, as it uses the same style of the previous Repent Loci entries (including charsets and character busts). I especially iiked mapping, because despite being simple, the house is well made and detailed. Not bad! Music is good, ad usual.
What's bad? Well maybe the fact that this is probably the shortest game of the series, otherwise it's pretty good even if those who start the series from this game probably will found the plot and especially the ending quite nebulous and unclear. But yeah, someday there'll be some light. Maybe.
Ok it's a short game so I've not much to say... then let's go to t end!

WHAT? Please NO! Don't make me do this!

The Verdict
Ok, here's the short answer to the question in the beginning of the review: no, while there is the return of one of the recurring characters of the series, there is no answer to some of the questions I had. Moreover the ending is so unpredictable and unexpected that it raises even MORE questions! Sighhh... uhm ok!

No spoilers, let's speak of the game: it's pretty short, not bad and quite easy, except for some extra puzzles that are totally optional, and the puzzles are well implemented, so yeah that's nice. Anyway this feels more like a filler compared to previous longer episodes like the Orb (it's 35 minutes of gameplay I think), but it's still a good entry in the series, and maybe gives us something more about the setting to think about. I liked this. 3.5/5!

Ah, starting to feel the confusion, are you? 8D
Well I admit, it's a short and easy game I made in between two tasks, in order to pile up some more questions and make the pattern confusing. It's exactly as you saw it.

There is some particular value in it that's not apparent yet, though... This blonde daughter you saw is one of the most important characters in all of Repent Loci. But that's about it, I'll still leave you in your teased state =D

Yeah, absolutely consfusing since the true role of the *recurring character* now is more confused than ever! Also what happens here is questioning what happened to the previous protagonists (except the one with the witch, of course!)... buuut yeah I will wait, ehe. Good one anyway. But I was sorry for the doggo! :(
Apologies is set up in a bit of a different part of the lore, yes. I'll still mess with it eventually as well : D

Yeah yeah, heh I admit that for a moment when the protagonist went bathing I was expecting some Severed Water moments, but ... no! :D
That's not quite how it works =P
