A quest for a Chicken!

Hellooo! And here we are with a new Rm2k3 game! "Chicken Quest 2k3 - Rise of the Chimkin". I'll leave no Rm2k3 game unreviewed! No, ok... oh well, more or less!

Anyway this is the story of Chimkin, a little chicken (duh!) in KFCity with a foul language that wakes up in an hospital after an accident while he was trying to cross a road (obviously!). Chimkin was struck by a car but that's not all! Now he's always wanted by the police, and his rabbit friend is gone mad, luckily he can still count on Froggo, that has discovered some arcane powers...
What will happen now?
Play the game!

ChickenQuest 2K3: Rise of the Chimkin is a little big adventure with some cute friends and a lot of humor. Seriously, there are many puns and humorous dialogues, in a classic rpgmaker adventure!

Obviously!!!!

Yeah, this game can be descrived as classic mini rpg! So classic that you can expect random encounters (and also some non-random ones too! The Bossfights, of course!) that luckily are never too hard or annoying. Chimkin despite his tiny size is a classical warrior character armed with a baseball bat and strong physical attacks (and language!), while Froggo is weaker, but able to unleash the fury of the elements (ok, it's your typical mage character). Opponents goes from cockroaches to the bad cops that are trying to capture our hero, but expect some surprises.

As you can expect you need equipment and consumable, so it's a bood idea to interact with everything... sometimes you get an item, other times just a humorous dialogue, but yeah, I won't complain. There are also vending machines where you can spend cash for items and equipment, or a nurse that acts as a save & healing (well she's a nurse!) point. And you need all this because besides the random encounters (where you can escape easily!) there are also some strong bosses, luckily Chimkin will warn you before they appear so you can prepare for a difficult (but not too much) combat!

I don't think there is much else to say because this game was made in just ONE week for a rm2k3 game jam, anyway the game has a distinct style due to the use of some nice tilesets (very reminiscent of the Gamepboy Advanced Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald games). There are also some custom portraits and few rtp, in any case the final result is fits perfectly the cheesy and funny story and setting.
Mapping is adequate and well done, nothing wrong with that, the rooms are well organizeD, furnished and of the right size. Good and realistic.
I also liked the music choice (besides classical Final Fantasy music it includes even a songs by Cypress Hill, 2Pac, Offspring! Yeah!), anyway I will say it again: it's a little game and a sort of parody really short and not meant to be taken too seriously! Just play, interact, fight and enjoy this funny little adventure of big heroes!

There is not much I can complain given the premise. Maybe that there are too few combat options and you will probably level up only once, or that the game is too short... but nah, I see not other flaw, really! I mean the game is short, combat is quite easy and dialogues, well these wee fun!..

Oh no it's the cops! Quick, run away and read the...

Final Verdict
Chicken Quest 2k3 - Rise of the Chimkin is exactly what I really expected: a short, fun comedic adventure disguised as a sort of modern dungeon delving, Nothing much, but did you read it? Fun! Ok, it's a sort of joke game, or a game full of jokes, anyway it's well worth a 4/5 considering the numerous quotes/references (from Star Wars, Terminator, Metal Gear Solid and so on) that made me laugh, the cute graphics and sounds (not you usual, banal Rm2k3 rtp game with huge empty maps, Alex and his friends!) and the very little time in which it was made!
It's short, cheesy and silly, but I want a sequel!
