Let's climb together the... Tower of the Starblessed!

Tower of the Starblessed is a game realized for the RMN's 14th Birthday Event, this means that it was made in a really short time (14 hours), and for this reason it is a quite short linear game (30 minutes long) but a complete one.

Tower of the Starblessed is also the story of two heroes that have reached the mythic "Tower of the Starblessed": Apollo the Warrior and Zeiss the alchemist. Their mission is to climb the tower to the top (of course!) and defeat the Starborn, that will grant them a wish! (the plot somehow reminds to me the games Reliquia and Crimson Memories, it's simple but effective to introduce some characters, a setting and a mission in a couple of words!)

Hey, did you really say "explode"? Oh no!

As mentioned before the game is short and linear, but it autosaves after each successful combat encounter, that does not uses the typical rpgmaker combat setup, but a simpler rock-paper-scissor system. After the first combat encounter that works as a simple tutorial remember that you have ten rounds to win the duel or it's game over!

The first encounters are against some Starbeasts, and they are just a warming up because it will be pretty easy learning which is the winning move of each round. Things will become a more difficult during the second part, when the combat encounters will be against the Starblessed Warriors (and you will have to figure out the right move from the phrases they speak... sometimes you will need more than one try). This is also where the plot becomes more interesting due a particolar encounter, but I will not spoil that. Then there will be the last combat encounter against the Starborn, that will be the toughest opponent, of course (and strangely I was able to defeat him on my first try! I mean, the two other opponents before him took me a couple of tries each, here I was able to guess almost every move, I do not know if maybe it's simpler... but I did it)!

Graphically the game uses some rtp and some original pictures, and overall I find it pretty good, mapping is ok (well this is a short game with few locations, so there is not much to say about this) but there are some nice visual effects, maybe the only issue is that the portraits and charsets do not match with the battlers of the two protagonist... I mean Apollo looks quite different but uhm, ok! (same goes for the opponents, but technically they are morphing into a stronger battle form, so it's ok in that case!). Music is goof, I liked it a lot!

Do we? YES! We absolutely do!

Final Verdict
This is a little, simple game, it took me exactly an hour from introduction to the ending, anyway I had fun, it's a complete story (but it may be continued by a sequel, who knows?). Considering that this is the first game of the developer, and also all the restrictions of the contest, I may say that this is a pretty interesting entry and nice game. Ok, it's short and linear, obviously, but it's an original combat system idea, the story is well written and I liked the ending. My only gripe is that we don't see/know a lot of the two protagonists, and for this reason I hope to see them again, maybe in some other adventures.

So yes, that's my wish!

Thank you very much for reviewing my game! I'm glad to see that you enjoyed it!

And I'm also glad that you enjoyed the protagonists! To be honest, I DO have plans for a sequel to this game/story, but it likely won't be started until... a few years from now, since I need to work on a different project of mine, first. But when the sequel becomes real, you'll definitely be able to see & learn more about these two ^^

Well it was a great start... I did not expect a game like this for the 14th Birthday event! ANYWAY I'd like to see next project, no matter if this does not features these chars, because I'd be also curious to see something different!
