One day, while Mr. Dude is taking a tropical vacation from his duties as World Leader, he discovers a mysterious SD card with nothing on it but a single sound file named "SOS.WAV." The contents of the audio file suggest that someone nearby may be in danger, so he sets off on a search around Chablam Island to uncover the mysteries.

SOS.WAV is a 2D adventure game where you must solve puzzles to make your way through the story. Each puzzle has hints scattered inside the mysterious audio file and you'll have to listen closely to figure out the solutions.

This project was created for Global Game Jam 2017 (meaning we created it in under 48 hours). The entire game and all of its artwork were created in a single weekend by Steve Rakar and Michelle Rakar.

In all fairness, bird shrapnel isn't as deadly as wood shrapnel

I once had an idea like this concept, where a player would listen to an MP3 player to trigger paranormal stuff in a town.

That is to say, this game seems super cool and I've got to play it someday. :o

That sounds like a fun idea you have, I could definitely see that concept working really well, especially for a paranormal game! And thank you, I'd love to hear what you think about the game once you play it :)

Hey again! I gave the game a spin, and it was pretty cool. I like the main character (especially his walk animation ;3) and the gimmicks used for the puzzles. Does feel like a piece of a bigger picture overall, and that's a good thing. I myself like creating episodic games, so it's cool to see someone doing similar.

My only real hangup is that I brute-forced the final puzzle without realizing it was the final one, heh. Still, am looking forward to more of Mr Dude and from you.

Thanks so much for playing it, I'm glad you liked it! I appreciate your feedback as well, that's good to keep in mind for future projects.

And yeah this is actually part of a bigger story that I've been working on for almost 20 years at this point, so there's definitely a lot more to it, haha. All of my other games have characters from this story and someday I hope to release the entire story, since a lot of it is just written and not interactive yet, but I'm glad to hear you're interested in seeing more :)
