Thomas Crawford Pryce is an archaeologist on the cutting edge of his field. He is a professor of the illustrious Miskatonic University in Arkham, Massachusetts. One day, in a small city near the center of Essex, he came running out of the woods as though pursued by the Devil, himself, screaming in terror, shouting dire, deranged warnings about the horrors that were surely coming. He collapsed from exhaustion, and when he regained consciousness, he found himself in Arkham Asylum. Having seemingly regained his senses as well, a nurse took him to a doctor's office where he was to be greeted.

After the initial interview, a police detective arrived to determine what could have put him in such a state of wretched panic and despair. And so, the good Professor Pryce tells them the tale of the most recent week of his life, where he took a fellow professor and two students to examine newly discovered ruins in the woods behind a small fishing village on the coast of Essex named Innsmouth.

The fate of the good professor seems certain, but only he knows the fates of the students, the professor, the laborer, and the guide from Innsmouth that accompanied him.

-While it is true that the copyright status of many of H. P. Lovecraft's

works is in contention, the trademark status of the names Innsmouth, Chthulu,
Miskatonic, Necronomicon, and Arkham is not in contention. These aspects of
Mythos are public domain.

-Book of Eibon or Libre Ivonis appears in the book Ubbo-Sathla by Clark Ashton
Smith in 1933 and is added to Mythos by H. P. Lovecraft in 1937. Since Smith
died in 1961 before copyright could be renewed by 1964, Ubbo-Sathla and its contents are also public domain.
