BilouConcept

The BilouConcept serie is a serie of shorts demonstrations by BilouMaster Joke of what we can do with RPG Maker 2003 and its event system.
It doesn't consist on making a full game, it just does prove how a specific concept can be made just with events, no patch, by one or more test maps. It only takes around 5 minutes to play the concept and there is no intention to make a full game, it's only a way to share the idea.

Aircraft3D

Its original name is "Vaisseau3D", "Aircraft3D" is the English translation of that short BilouConcept demonstrating fake 3D simulation.
You control an aircraft into a dynamic fake 3D tunnel and have to dodge the obstacles.
It's a single level, always the same, if you manage to success without any shocks and collecting all the life points you will unlock something ... special.

This concept has been made in 2007 in the first place.
You can load the first save to see how it was back in 2007.
It has been remade on May 2013 for adding a points/score system, bonuses, custom parameters for the player, and above all, refining the perspective by using the right formulas for zoom calculation.
It has been translated in English on November, 2021. :D

Enjoy!

hmm, nice idea!!

Thank you EgyLynx! :D
I played this and scored 1300 pts even though I was playing like a moron. Dang, this game feels really cool! *subbed*
This is really cool! I didn't think it was possible to do anything remotely like this in a traditional RPG Maker engine, especially 2003 (and by extension, EasyRPG since this won't run in Linux)! Great job! This gives off an old school arcade shoot 'em up vibe.

I didn't do all that great though unfortunately.
Thank you Tw0Face and Eggbertx :D

Have you tested it with EasyRPG? I tried to make a web version out of this project but it result in FPS drop. :')

This project is old but I managed to do something I wanted to do since years: making procedural levels! That means the gameplay and level is exactly the same, but the obstacles/stage will be different (random) each time you play! :D

I will share the update soon! ;)

Maybe one day I will be less lazy and make real new levels, but the randomisation of the stage will already make a big up in replayability!

This may result in two modes:
- One where the stage takes two minutes to end, but obstacles are random, you will still have to catch the same amount of Life and try to get no shocks
- One where the stage is infinite, without extra Life showing up, and you will have to try dodging the longest time you can.

To keep the thing entertaining, dynamic and challenging and not plain random, I will try to make the difficulty progressive in function of the time.

Also the current difference between two modes of difficulty is just how fast the obstacles are coming, but it changes nothing on the timing, the time spent between two obstacles is exactly the same. Thanks to the new "easy procedural" level generation I will be able to reduce the time between two obstacles by the factor I want. And make the level twice harder, mwahaha. >:D

The challenge here by making the level random is that I must make sure that the level will still be doable by the player all the Time, leaving no random situation where it would be too much hard or impossible to dodge the obstacle.

I will release that soon, if you have some ideas you can share.

I will release that soon, if you have some ideas you can share.

A speed up Item that doubles your ships speed for a short period of time. And -just for fun- the ability to do stunts (rotate your ship and turn it upside down for example. Maybe enable destroying some obstacles by spinning around).
I just found this game today and let me say I'd love this to be longer lol. Love this kind of stuff.

Got the extra mode too, which kinda explained how the thing was made. Pretty cool to see how much you can do with a couple sprites and some good old maths. :]
Just a reminder for anyone still struggling to fill in Misao Nominations for 2021:
BilouConcept is totally eligible for the:

- Best Non-English Game (Best translated or non-English game released this year)
- Beetle Ninja Award (secret best game you played that's below 150 downloads)
- The "How The Hell Did They Do That" award (most technical prowess)

You can probably even toss in the "Eye Candy" as well. This game looks great.
That's an interesting idea, but why in RPG Maker?
