Frogger minus a "R"!

Hellooo
Yes, I know I should have said "minus the SECOND R" otherwise this should become "Fogger" ... anyway let's speak about something more serious of this title, the review itself!

Frogge is NOT a game about the (popular) developer with the same name, author of masterpieces like the (famous) Two St*ange*s series. No! This game is a remake of the popular old (1981) arcade classic Frogger by Konami.
That game had countless versions and remakes, but this was made with RPG Maker MV by Amy (Ellie???), and I guess this was a rather particular effort.

If you know how Frogger plays, you already know everything, if not I will explain: we play as a little frog that has to cross the road avoiding incoming cars and hopping from the lower part of the screen to the upper (or from south to north). Unlike the original game this has no river with the logs and the crocodiles, but I did not miss that at all!!!

What I like of this particular version are the nice RTP map of the street and the many cars and vehicles that will run over the poor little frog on the busy road: expect to see both "boring" modern vehicles and others that are more original and taken from popular shows. And elephants too! But do not worry, they are all the same, even if some are clearly faster and then (probably) more dangerous! Music is a single repetitive tune, but I guess this game doesn't need more, anyway I liked the crash sound when you get a game over. Ohyes, even if it's sad.
Also, remember that you start next to a barrel and heading towards a traffic cone, both obstacles that will block your path, so pay attention!

Another feature is that you may not only play the game online directly on your browser, but also submit your score to The Official Scoreboard on HBGames (come on, try to beat my best!)

The game is repetitive of course, like the original but also very addicting (also like the original). The game is pretty difficult in the beggining, as you have just one life, and the collisions are sometimes a bit weird: it happened to me to have a game over when I didn't even graze a vehicle, other times I totally jumped forward while one of the fastest cars was approaching and I swear I passed under it. Safe and sound. But ok these were exceptions to the rule and happened sparingly or maybe my eyes betrayed me!

Anyway, speaking about eyes, I noticed that the best strategy is finding a pattern and replicating it each time, since the traffic loops repeating the same passages. I did not notice any increase of difficulty as you progress in the game... maybe did the cars go faster or it's me that was becoming slower and tired? I don't know, still I played this game a lot, until I became pretty good at it I guess (I failed after a while because I did a mistake. Sigh).

Final Verdict
Frogge, with its charming simple graphics, nice looking gamepage and simple but fun gameplay can be seen as the new version of the old classic. It's pretty good, ok nothing more than a time waster, but an enjoyable one. No, wait, a very enjoyable one, at least for me.
Pretty good, great job Amy.. Ellie .. uhm developer! But now I want a game about *the other* Frogge!
