( insert joke on reptiles here! )

Hey.
Do you want to hear something funny?
Yoshi goes to Tesco (OR "Yoshi goes 2 Tesco" if we wanna be precise)!
No wait, it's not time to laugh (yet!), first let's explain a couple of things: this is a game by Frogge made for Muffle's 1-Dungeon RPG Game Jam event (so in a relatively short time, kudos to that).
I see just a couple of problems with that: first is that this is NOT an rpg, second that Frogge will probably have face not one but two lawsuits from Nintendo and Tesco.
But I am not Frogge, so I won't care of course, then let's go!

I do not like the sound of this. AT ALL!

For those of you that lived in a cave, Yoshi is a fictional dinosaur who debuted in Super Mario World (1990) on the Super Nintendo, while Tesco is a British multinational groceries and general merchandise retailer. I tell you this because I knew Yoshi but not Tesco, anyway now you have no excuses, you know both.

Uh ok... what I was saying? Uhm ok, Yoshi goes to Tesco with a grocery list we have to use to help him buy what he needs. But there won't be a game if everything went smoothly. Right? Strangely Goku is not involved here... maybe!
In the end this will be an epic fun adventure that included reptiles, Luigi and alchemic rituals!

Well in any case do not worry, this game won't probably take you a lifetime to complete, for me it took just 23 minutes. And I am that player that checks every corner and wanders around just to be sure he won't miss anything, on the other hand I am also the one who takes notes to avoid backtracking if he missed some details. Mind this!

Anyway how can I define this game? It's a dungeon of puzzles, minigames and traps (but that does NOT include combat). I'll tell you a thing: I think that the game goes from good, to ok, to nice, to awesome! Yes the first part was fun, the warehouse section was from meh to ok and later it becomes better and better and better.

ARGH! This happened to me at least five times. It's unfair, isn't it?

Let's see in details: browsing the isles was fun, then the warehouse run was a it meh for a couple of problems: first I had a difficult time understanding the positions of the various levels for the first platform section, but it's ok just few tries and it's solved. Then there is the hated part with the double spiked hydraulic presses that took me at least ten tries... and it was a bit unfair since there was no collisions in at least five tries, so I thank Frogge for let me start right after each death instead that from the last savepoint. I made it but just for chance. And then there was the hardest problem... the difficulty to find exits! Yes, in a couple of part of the warehouse and the second room of the underground dungeons the lateral exits (left and right) are difficult to notice as they hide with the walls. And this is specially true then you have instead other more evident exits like the door in the north of the dungeon, and a part near the final section of the warehouse where you are partially obscured by a wall/ceiling: I was sure that was a portcullis or someting to activate. Instead NOPE!

Anyway don't get me wrong, I have to criticize something because I really liked the rest of the game. Even if it lies because during the intro it tells me that the game contains the most terrible jumpscare. It's FALSE since I had at least three jumpscares while playing it! Or maybe it's me, anyway play and see.

Going on you will also find some puzzles (I liked the alchemy one, well done and explained! I did not need help there, also there are many arrows that will point the items of interests that is pretty helpful even if the game is not huge so you would probably interact with everything anyway!).
The final part has a more surreal setting and ends with a final confrontation that took me three tries to complete but I liked that, very very much! Pity for the abrupt ending, but with Frogge I'm used to this.

I won't touch the humor that is subjective, but for the rest the game is pretty good. Aside for the well hidden exits I found maps to be pretty well made and detailed. Game is linear of course, but the locations are competently made and nice, my favourite ones are the Tesco shops... oh why did I use the plural?
Buahahahahahahaha, I won't tell you.

Apparently I reached the Tesco of Nebula Resort! But if Goku is the cashier or the Tesco on Earth, the one in this dimension could be... Goku Black!

Final Verdict
Play this game, you are exempted only if you have reptile disfunction. Uhm sorry, it's the effect of playing a game that is about funny reptiles. I liked this funny little romp and I really expected it to be shorter (or maybe I wanted that since the first minutes weren't as good as the rest of the game, I mean I really liked the final minigame and the puzzle), I appreciated the classical Saw reference, I hated with passion Gex and... well I cannot say anything else or I will spoil the fun. A good entry with small flaws, 3.5/5 and no less.

In few lines

+ Humor and jumpscares (not just one)
+ The alchemical puzzle and minigames! I loved them!
+ Goku! (x2)

- Some exits aren't clearly highlighted and may be mistaked for solid walls
- Those spiked bugged presses! I hated them!
- abrupt ending

Really fair review addict! I'm definitely gonna be looking at marking side doors better in whatever I make next. (And if I ever do an update for this probably make the skewer section a bit easier.)

This is supposed to happen when you jump into the spikes from the sides, but I couldn't get it working too well and it seems like everyone struggled with it. Probably would have been better off removed :(
Such a fantastic game! Great review, Addict!

Yeah I was very fair and I ALSO HAD TO RE-TAKE THE PICS I took since there were some differences with the version I playtested. (for example there was NO Goku in that pic!). Please appreciate my OCD.

I am sad because I missed the streaming, anyway not bad not bad... eve if I hate that part I mentioned where I spent five minutes to look for an exit on the wrong direction looooool.
Uhm ok.
By the way the minigames were so coool.

Yay was cool! I saw that you had fun with this too! I think it was better and better as the game proceeds, I mean... first I was "uhm...ok", towards the end I was "WHOA!".
