The tales passed down since the dawn of the Golden Age speak of this place, the world that the mortals called home. Many branches of this lore speak of its death and rebirth that was sparked by the rise and fall of the deities that held sovereignty over it. And although the inevitability of death that comes with the blessing of life is spared on no living being, there were those who sought immortality through their acts that they, with their imperfect vision, saw as the will of the Divine.

For the sake of one mortal who was not born of this world, those who inhabit the kingdom of Zilmurik must speak to him and settle the inquiries this youth presents. Open your ears to the words of these spirits, and embrace these Tales from Zilmurik.

I implore you to listen carefully to how the acts of these individuals were sparked by their innermost desires, fueled by deep-seated flaws, and how the path of decay and rebirth that followed was born of their own limited perception.

Tales from Zilmurik: Collector's Edition

As further progress is made to the final revision of Tales from Zilmurik, a realization was struck: what should become of the original 2K versions of 2009 and 2011? Should they be removed from history, or should they be combined into a single download under a new name to allow me the freedom to overwrite the main download when the new version is completed? I decided on the latter.

I'm proud to announce that the Tales from Zilmurik: Collector's Edition is now live. This release contains both of the older versions of the game (its origin and the revision) in one handy download. If that wasn't already enough, look forward to the GOLD release of the Collector's Edition that will contain history concerning the development of both versions and some insight into the lore of the world, with all spoilers intact! Who knows, you may find something you hadn't considered before, and perhaps, some hints towards the future of the Tales from Zilmurik lore!

I have to say I made an RPGmaker 2000 games on here just recently and I just love that we both used the same method for a title screen and even used the same moon picture and then we even used the same world map music. It really made me think of the potential of my own RPGMaker 2000 game. You did a really good job and its nice to play a game similar to my own to get a feeling of what a completed game could look like. Look forward to finishing this game.
Tried playing the 2013 demo. Got a lot of errors concerning files not being found. Copied over some files from the 2011 demo and that got me through quite a bit of the prologue before the game errored out again.

Well, now I don't know what to say :(
Could have sworn I read a post mentioning the SPEED of my hero on the World map.
Inside almost anywhere, he's quick like a bunny, but on the World map between towns and other areas, he's slow as molasses.
Am I doing something wrong or did you do this on purpose knowing I would get frustrated?? :)

Can I assume there is not walk through??
God, I'm TERRIBLE with puzzles...I will never save Telmurik :(

If you're looking for Alex's ultimate weapon, you'll find it by felling the "Ultimate Weapon" boss that can be found after getting the Guardian's Amulet from the Lost Shrine in the mountains and reaching the part of the game where you're about to depart on the airship to Chaos' domain. This boss is hidden in the dark water between the volcano and Chaos' domain and is extremely difficult, having access to many strong spells that target all party members including Ultima.

The rewards for felling the Whirlpool Guardian are useful for characters around level 20+, so I'd recommend grabbing those when you're around the volcano.
I finished the game, although i didn't get Alex's ultimate weapon and i think i finished the game 100% except for the Whirlpool Guardian, where i was supposed to fight that superboss?

Congrats for the game, i enjoyed it and i'm waiting for the continuation.

TIP: Next time you make a game full of super hard puzzles DO make a walkthrough to avoid so many questions. :P

Well
I went to the right wing tower, defeated the king and ended up stuck again. These are the rooms i can't access, the centre room with the red carpet in the last floor, left wing tower, room left of the blacksmith room, door where's water and the room to the right of the ice room, what do i need to do?, thanks.

This branch of the dungeon starts with the crypt found to the east of the fortress' first room (foyer). You'll want to pay close attention to the hint on the stone tablet on the wall to solve this puzzle. You'll be tasked with finding which tombstones will help you and which ones won't. Wrong choices result in battles but no loss in progress, so you could just muscle through the battles, but it's much more worthwhile to find the established pattern and solve it with as few battles as possible.

In this room you will get a key that leads you to another part of the dungeon. Here, your knowledge of the backstory of the game will help significantly. After this, the sewer (room with all the water in it) is just kind of a crap-shoot with no hint in it. I tried to include a hint with this place, but nothing came out right without immediately ruining the puzzle. The least I can offer for hints for this place would be "same and opposite". Good luck.

That was it. I had to go downstairs to do the mine cart puzzle and i thought the path was closed, turns out it wasn't and i simply didn't see the tiny path, the white gate wouldn't open until i moved a switch went to check and it was still closed then i went back to that switch, reseted it to its original position and the gate magically opened!, it was frigging bugged.

You probably don't have the Rune Key yet, which requires that you first finish both halves of the mine cart puzzle to get the "ingredient" items. You then take this to the blacksmith's room within the outer ramparts on the second floor and use them with the furnace to forge the Rune Key.

With this, you can traverse deeper into the fortress where you will find the two towers on the balcony.
I went to all the places i could 2 times and couldn't find a single door i could open with that key.. maybe it's within the cart rails, if it is there's one rail where you're supposed to jump with the cart where i can't access.

Thanks, i couldn't figure it out.

BTW: Which door is that key for?, haven't found it.

Look around a little more; I'm sure you can find it. The name of the key gives you a hint.

Hey mate i've been playing the game and i have to say i quite like it. But i'm stuck in the statue puzzle in the ice cavern inside Chaos' Domain, i've used the same combination used in the rightmost room and a few others to no avail so i'd apreciate the help, thanks.

Have you checked the stone tablet lying in the glyph in the center room and used its hint to guide you to the solution? If so:

There are two "solutions" to the puzzle. In order to get the main one that's intended to make you progress, place the demon statues where there were angel statues in the opposite room. Do likewise with the angel statues to gain access to a room with an item merchant.

You can only have one of these rooms accessible at a time, however.

I know that sometimes computers don't want to cooperate with RPG Maker and your character ends up getting locked into moving right. The only thing I can recommend is restarting your computer or pecking feverishly at keys until you regain control of your character.
I'm not sure if it's just me being noobish or what but whenever I load up the game from the beginning, no saved games, my character looks to the right and walks into the fence, then i can't move him at all...I can only look up and down and right. Please tell me it's a glitch because this is a new computer...

My reguards,
PokeShadow
Pretty much the best looking RTP game I have yet seen. Great job! Dling now
Can we be seeing a second chapter?

You have a great grasp of making levels and depth in a 2d map.
