  • At first avoid having characters weild weapons with the same element. You never know when you'll bump into an enemy who resists the regular attack of most of your party! Your first damage skill is an alternative since most early enemies won't resist a weapon element and your first skill's element.

Don't toss gear just because it's a few tiers below what you currently have. Some of it might fill a niche role that you may need later in the game. If you have something with similar effects but is plain better, or you really need the money then toss it.

The more HP-healing items you have in your inventory the better. Chest and loot will check if you're running low and give you some if nessesary. Plus you'll be able to stay in the dungeon longer!

The orange guy sells small hints for a nominal fee. Some of them are basic instructions to even nagivate some floors. Just ask him about the floor of the dungeon (not the area you're in, so asking for the hint of the second floor of the second area would be asking for F7) you want the hint for.

The boots are useless on their own. Check around in your home base for somebody who can make use of them. They'll be quite handy once you get everything you need.

Dying in battle IS NOT a game over! You'll go back to your home base, fully healed, with all items you used in the battle that you lost. You'll still have to get back where you died and hopefully your last portal was used not far from where you died but its better than losing real progress, right?

Status effects are awesome. The late game bosses start resisting them but almost everything else is fair game.

If you really get stuck and have some classes available, change everybody to a class they haven't been yet and grind for a bit. Their level will quickly rise and so will their stats. Plus they'll learn more moves. It'll make the characters less distinguishable but oh well. It should never come to that since there's a few ways to take out the tough cookies and some just aren't immediately obvious.

End game gear is silly broken. (this also makes the end game is
balanced. (but it isn't as bad now)
