I'm a huge Tetris fan which is why when there's a Tetris clone I will occasionally waste a couple of minutes on it. I like to see what's new, what's old and in what way it's worse than the original.

The Good
The graphics are crisp and clear. The cut-scenes and story is very enjoyable and I'd recommend playing through the story mode just for the fun of it at least once. The levels in story mode are short enough that you won't be pulling your hair too often and I really like the facial expressions on the characters and the way they all are unique in the short time they are introduced.

Another good thing is the music. It really fits in and gives an epic feel of epicness. I noticed though in the files that it's a track from OC Remix so it's mostly a "that's a good choice of a track for this game" rather than the "you must play this just for the music" it would have been if the track had been original.

The final good thing was probably the key remappability because I could not have played this game with those default keys. I think it was one of the old Windows Tetris games where you used the up arrow to rotate blocks and I found that I subconsiously pressed up to rotate and it fell right down. Fortunately the remappability was there.

The Bad
I really only have one gripe with the game and that's the controls. The controls are not exactly bad but they're not the kind of perfect that makes Tetris the awesome game it is. I found on more than one occasion that a block was misplaced because of the controls. There's no indication sound as to when the block has properly hit the ground (which meant that I sometimes when I thought the block had hit the ground rotated it because I was already thinking of the following block). The left and right movements were also occasionally a bit iffy. Sometimes moving too much to the right or to the left.

Of course with that said it isn't like the controls were bad but they were not the kind of perfect that makes Tetris Tetris. Though I guess this is really Boxley.

Overall though the controls doesn't make this a Tetris replacement in any way. I'll still, if I want to play around with some pieces play the original rather than this. Which means that after finishing story mode in this game there is little point to continue.

That said it is not a bad game. It is just... Average.

Hey, thanks for the review. I had wanted to finish a game, so I programmed an almost-Tetris with a story -- it wasn't meant to be anything else other than average. Which is why I was surprised I got a 5/5!
