Unique Loot

In Thrall, weapons and armor may generate with a red flavor text. These items come with additional effects that are not listed on the item card. Most of these weapons are "Legendary" rarity or higher, and can be obtained from any suitable loot source, but some of these are specific items that can only be obtained as mission rewards. This page is dedicated to explaining what each of these unique items are, their effects, and any related trivia. If you find one of these items during your playthrough, this guide is here to be used as a reference for those items.

Note: Some of the items that are considered "mission rewards" may not be available in the demo.

Legendary Weapons

Helios
Type: Sword
Unique Effect: Always Fire elemental. Normal attacks deal 50%. Damage is increased by 100% cumulative for each enemy inflicted with Burn status
Flavor: "Whose fires set the world aglow"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from "Ovid's Metamorphoses" relating to Helios, the Greek Titan God of the Sun


Thanatos
Type: Axe
Unique Effect: Grants chance to cause Death on hit. Does not carry any inherent penalties
Flavor: "Alone amongst the Gods"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from "Aristophanes' Birds" relating to Thanatos, the ancient Greek personification of Death


Judgement
Type: Mace
Unique Effect: Always Shock elemental. Doubles the damage of normal attacks for each incapacitated ally
Flavor: "Every man strives to attain the Law"
Trivia: The flavor text references an English translation of a partial quote from a parable contained in the novel "The Trial" by Franz Kafka, 1883 - 1924


Pluto
Type: Spear
Unique Effect: Always Weak elemental. Grants +50% CRIT chance against enemies inflicted with Weak status, cumulative with other bonuses
Flavor: "Who inhabits the region down below"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from the Greek geographer Strabo, in distinction between Pluto and Hades


Selene
Type: Knife
Unique Effect: Always Ice elemental. Increases chance of inflicting Freeze by 20%, and upon doing so grants +10 turns to the Freeze duration
Flavor: "More fair is she than all the fair"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from "Ovid's Heroides" relating to Selene, the Greek goddess and personification of the moon


Zangetsu
Type: Sword
Unique Effect: Generates with +30% DMG stat over swords of similar quality, for a total modifier of +40% DMG. This is the highest possible base damage stat that can generate on any weapon in the game
Flavor: "GETSUGA TENSHOU!"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references the sword used by "Ichigo Kurosaki" in the popular manga and anime "Bleach," and the name of his signature attack


Faith
Type: Sword
Unique Effect: Always Shock elemental. Inflicting Seize status with this weapon will reduce enemy DEX by 50% as opposed to the standard 30%
Flavor: "Fidelacchius renewed"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a recurring sword from the novel series "The Dresden Files" by Jim Butcher, which upon breaking is restored as a blade of pure light. The sword "Fidelacchius" is commonly known as the "Sword of Faith"


Muramasa
Type: Sword
Unique Effect: Always MULTI. Does not suffer the usual 40% DMG penalty of other MULTI weapons
Flavor: "Good is not my nature"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from the visual novel "Full Metal Daemon: Muramasa"


Hellfire
Type: Sword
Unique Effect: Always Fire elemental. Inflicting Burn status with this weapon will double the damage over time inflicted by Burn status
Flavor: "And let her taste the fires of Hell"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from the song "Hellfire" from the movie "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"


Roc
Type: Sword
Unique Effect: Always has the PROMPT accessory. Grants +30% DEX stat over swords of similar quality
Flavor: "It doesn't let you jump over pits"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references the item "Roc's Feather" from the "Legend of Zelda" series, which allowed for players to jump, potentially clearing gaps in the terrain


Gloria
Type: Axe
Unique Effect: Never Elemental. Grants +10% DMG, +10% DEX, +10% ACC, and +5% CRIT chance over axes of similar quality
Flavor: "You're always on the run now"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references the 1982 Laura Branigan song, "Gloria"


Angel
Type: Axe
Unique Effect: Restores HP to the wielder equal to 10% of the damage dealt with normal attacks
Flavor: "The great prince shall arise"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial altered quote from Daniel 12:1 relating to the archangel Michael


Devil
Type: Axe
Unique Effect: Increases the damage of normal attacks while the wielder is at low health, and decreases damage when the wielder is at full health. Damage will not be increased by more than 250%. Damage is calculated using the following formula;
damage = (damage*(attacker.maxhp/2)) / attacker.hp

Reaper
Type: Axe
Unique Effect: Always has the CRITDMG accessory. Generates with a +35% crit chance, cumulative with other weapon materials. Damages the wielder equal to 10% of the damage dealt to enemies with normal attacks

Trivia: The flavor text and weapon effect references the proverb "You reap what you sow"


Leviathan
Type: Axe
Unique Effect: Always Ice elemental. Deals 50% damage with normal attacks. Deals 200% damage with normal attacks against enemies inflicted with Freeze status
Flavor: "Here is the sea, great and wide"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from Psalms 104:25


Cosmo
Type: Mace
Unique Effect: Always Fire elemental. Never MULTI. Generates with 25% less DMG than that of blunt weapons of similar quality. Changes attack pattern to attack all enemies with normal attacks
Flavor: "Fire from the sky"
Trivia: This weapon almost didn't make it into the game. It was added alongside the Reactor, Nihilism, Leviathan, Watcher, and Shinobi in an effort to balance the types of weapons that can generate as Legendary


Gehenna
Type: Mace
Unique Effect: Generates with two elements. Always Fire and Shock elemental. The second element does not take up a material component, allowing for four components on one weapon

Hades
Type: Mace
Unique Effect: Grants chance to cause Death on hit. Generates with half the DMG of blunt weapons of similar quality
Flavor: "As mean as he was ruthless"

Aphrodite
Type: Mace
Unique Effect: Generates with two elements. Always Ice and Weak elemental. The second element does not take up a material component, allowing for four components on one weapon

Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from "Homeric Hymn 5 to Aphrodite" relating to Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty


Watcher
Type: Mace
Unique Effect: Grants increased CRIT chance based on how low the wielders HP is. Weapon CRIT chance is cumulative with other bonuses, and is calculated using the following formula;
crit = (100-((actor.hp*100)/actor.maxhp))/2

Mars
Type: Spear
Unique Effect: Always Fire elemental. Grants +30% DMG over spears of similar quality
Flavor: "The Avenger"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references the ancient Roman god "Mars" and his Greek equivalent "Ares," known as the Avenger


Jupiter
Type: Spear
Unique Effect: Always Shock elemental. Grants +30% DEX over spears of similar quality
Flavor: "Father of the sky"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references the ancient Roman god "Jupiter" and his Greek equivalent "Zeus," known as the Father of the Sky


Neptune
Type: Spear
Unique Effect: Always Ice elemental. Grants +15% DMG and +15% DEX over spears of similar quality
Flavor: "God of the sea"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references the ancient Roman god "Neptune" and his Greek equivalent "Poseidon," known as the God of the Sea


Reactor
Type: Spear
Unique Effect: Grants increased damage for normal attacks when attackers Overdrive gauge is full, reduces damage when Overdrive gauge is empty. Damage will not drop below 33%. The formula for calculating damage is as follows;
damage = (damage*attacker.overdrive) / (attacker.max_overdrive/2)
Flavor: "My power is yours"
Trivia: This weapon almost didn't make it into the game. It was added alongside the Cosmo, Nihilism, Leviathan, Watcher, and Shinobi in an effort to balance the types of weapons that can generate as Legendary


Nihilism
Type: Spear
Unique Effect: Grants increased damage for normal attacks when attackers Overdrive gauge is empty, reduces damage when Overdrive gauge is full. Damage will not increase above 250%. The formula for calculating damage is as follows;
damage = (damage*(attacker.max_overdrive/2)) / attacker.overdrive
Flavor: "All good things were formerly bad"

Reflection
Type: Knife
Unique Effect: Changes status applications of the weapon to match any statuses that are currently applied to the wielder
Flavor: "As from me, now to you"
Trivia: With the exception of Mel specced into "Impervious," it is impossible for this weapon to copy the Freeze status, due to its immobilization effect


Conductor
Type: Knife
Unique Effect: Always Shock elemental. Normal attacks drain up to 50% of an enemy's current overdrive before any overdrive is gained from damage taken
Flavor: "I'm drawn to you"
Trivia: The Conductor will drain half the overdrive of the target enemy and add it to the overdrive of the attacker. In this way, the Conductor is very useful for quickly gaining overdrive while preventing enemy overdrive techniques


Shinobi
Type: Knife
Unique Effect: Always Weak elemental. Inflicting Weak status with this weapon will cause damage over time, compounding with damage from Burn status
Flavor: "Long night, slow death"

Saitama
Type: Knife
Unique Effect: Normal attacks against enemies with full HP will always be a critical hit
Flavor: "ONE PUUUUUUUNCH!"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references the name of the main character and the intro theme from the manga and anime "One Punch Man"


Gargoyle
Type: Knife
Unique Effect: Increases CRIT damage by 100% based on the number of enemies killed in the given battle, cumulative with other bonuses. If enemies respawn during battle, that enemy is subtracted from the total number of enemies killed
Flavor: "Their ways are not our ways"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from the character "Goliath" from the TV series "Gargoyles"


Legendary Armors

Genji
Type: Helmet
Unique Effect: Generates with 7x the evasion of a similar quality helmet
Flavor: "You face ME! GILGAMESH!"
Trivia: The flavor text of this armor is a reference to a quote from a recurring boss type enemy from the "Final Fantasy" series called Gilgamesh, who would often drop "Genji" armor upon defeat


Amphibian
Type: Helmet
Unique Effect: Items listed RES stat varies according to equipped characters current HP. Lower HP equals higher RES. RES is calculated using the following formula;
res = ((200-((actor.hp*100)/(actor.maxhp/2)))*item.res)/100
Flavor: "I thought I was a goner!"

Wolf
Type: Helmet
Unique Effect: Grants +10% DMG, cumulative with other skill bonuses
Flavor: "I... can't... loooose!"
Trivia: The flavor text references a quote from the character "Star Wolf" from the game "Star Fox 64"


Falcon
Type: Helmet
Unique Effect: Grants +10% ACC, cumulative with other skill bonuses
Flavor: "I'll take the sky any day"
Trivia: The flavor text references a quote from the character "Falco" from the game "Star Fox 64"


Mirror
Type: Shield
Unique Effect: Changes the elemental and status resistance of the shield based on the element of the last damage type taken
Flavor: "I see myself in you"
Trivia: The Mirror takes its effect from the Elemental Resistance shields in the "Borderlands" game series


Obsidian
Type: Shield
Unique Effect: Turns any Shock damage against the equipped character to negative, granting a healing effect. Resisting Shock damage will reduce the amount of damage absorbed
Flavor: "You make it hurt so good"
Trivia: The flavor text references the 1982 John Mellencamp song, "Hurts So Good"


Ruby
Type: Shield
Unique Effect: Turns any Fire damage against the equipped character to negative, granting a healing effect. Resisting Fire damage will reduce the amount of damage absorbed
Flavor: "Burn baby burn!"
Trivia: The flavor text references the 1976 Trammps song, "Disco Inferno"


Sapphire
Type: Shield
Unique Effect: Turns any Ice damage against the equipped character to negative, granting a healing effect. Resisting Ice damage will reduce the amount of damage absorbed

Paladin
Type: Chest Armor
Unique Effect: Items listed DEF stat varies according to equipped characters current HP. Lower HP equals higher DEF. DEF is calculated using the following formula;

Emperor
Type: Chest Armor
Unique Effect: Always has the BONUSHP accessory. Grants 40% Bonus HP as opposed to the normal 15%
Flavor: "Reject your sense of injury"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from former Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius, 121AD - 180AD


Goddess
Type: Chest Armor
Unique Effect: Always has the REGEN accessory. Grants increased HP regen when the equipped character has low HP. HP regen is calculated as follows, cumulative with other HP regen effects;
hp = ((actor.maxhp/2)-actor.hp)/2
Flavor: "Blessed is he who offers sacrifice"
Trivia: The formula for calculating HP regen can grant up to 25% HP regen if the actor in question has 1% of their max HP remaining, but will not offer any HP regen when the actor is above 50% HP.


Prince
Type: Robe
Unique Effect: Always has the THORNS accessory. Grants 20% Thorns damage instead of the normal 10%
Flavor: "I should have... died then..."
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from the character "Pelleas" from the game "Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn," who was thought to be a prince for the majority of the game


Celestial
Type: Ring
Unique Effect: Grants 100% status immunity to Burn, Freeze, Seize, and Weak statuses. Does not offer any elemental resistance, despite item card
Flavor: "Her gentle touch mended all"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from the game "Bloodstained Hands," made by the same creator of this game. The quote references one of the gods of that world, "Sana," as the gods were called Celestials


Vanguard
Type: Gauntlets
Unique Effect: Generates with double the normal DEF stat of gauntlets of similar quality. Increases the targeting priority of the character (the rate at which enemies target you) by 75 (from the base rate of 5)
Flavor: "Is it me you're looking for?"
Trivia: The flavor text references the 1983 Lionel Richie song, "Hello"


Icarus
Type: Boots
Unique Effect: Always has the COOLDOWN accessory. Grants 9 turns of base action skill cooldown, as opposed to the normal 3 turns
Flavor: "Soaring ever higher"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references the story of Icarus in classical literature and Greek mythology


Mantle
Type: Ring
Unique Effect: Always has the HALFCRIT accessory. Grants 100% immunity to critical hits, as opposed to halving the chance
Flavor: "Protection from the Goddess"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references an ability from the game "Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn." The ability, also called Mantle, is granted to certain enemies from the goddess Ashera, which grants full damage protection unless attacked with weapons also blessed by a goddess


Rare Weapons

Royal
Type: Sword
Unique Effect: Increases drop rate by 40%
Flavor: "To gain riches is wise"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote King Solomon. While a party member has the "Royal" equipped, winning a battle while that party member is alive will cause enemies to drop loot 50% of the time, as opposed to 10% of the time


Atlas
Type: Sword
Unique Effect: After defending, increases DMG of next attack by 50%, cumulative with other bonuses
Flavor: "Who holds the sky on his shoulders"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from "Apollodorus' Bibliotheca Book 1" relating to Atlas, a Greek Titan condemned to hold up the heavens or sky for eternity after the Titanomachy. The idea behind this sword is that it's a heavy weapon that takes time to "charge up"


Demolisher
Type: Axe
Unique Effect: While equipped, Bombs thrown by the party member will deal 50% more damage
Flavor: "Merely another powerful weapon"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote Harry Truman relating to the Atom bomb


Gravity
Type: Axe
Unique Effect: Reduces DEF stat by 50%, and increases DMG stat by the subtracted amount
Flavor: "Unstoppable force"
Trivia: The concept of this weapon is based on the idea that more mass would increase the damage of the weapon. Therefore, the weapon increases in power the more DEF the character has, but has a "recoil" effect by reducing the DEF stat


Seraph
Type: Staff
Unique Effect: Never elemental. Only targets allies. Restores 20% of max HP on hit
Flavor: "Blessings upon you"
Trivia: The CRITDMG accessory serves no purpose with the Seraph, and the KNOCKBACK accessory can be detrimental. As such, only the FAST and MULTI accessories are useful. In addition, the DMG stat is only useful when throwing Bombs or when using Mel's Action Skills, as the damage is calculated based on equipped weapon DMG


Fiend
Type: Staff
Unique Effect: Always elemental. Every physical attack will randomly change the weapon element between Fire, Ice, or Shock
Flavor: "Ignis, Glacio, and Fulmen"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references deities from the game "Bloodstained Hands" made by the same creator of "Thrall"


Ephraim
Type: Spear
Unique Effect: Generates with 10% less DMG than spears of similar quality. Ignores 50% of enemy DEF with basic attacks
Flavor: "Forgive me, Eirika"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a quote from the character of the same name from the game "Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones" who was exclusively a spear wielder. In addition, his signature weapon "Reginleif" had a similar effect, dealing increased damage to mounted and armored foes


Chastiefol
Type: Spear
Unique Effect: Sets the DMG and DEX stats of the weapon based on the equipped characters level
Flavor: "Spirit Spear: Form One"
Trivia: The Chastiefol always appears in the storage chest in the Hollow Keep at the start of a new playthrough, but will never generate in any other loot source. The DMG stat is equal to (3*lvl)+15 where "lvl" is the level of the equipped character. The DEX stat is equal to (1.5*lvl)+15 where "lvl" is the level of the equipped character. The name and flavor text is a reference to the animated TV series and manga "Seven Deadly Sins"


Saria
Type: Knife
Unique Effect: Reduces Action Skill cooldown by 3 turns at the time of activation
Flavor: "The Sage of the Forest Temple"
Trivia: The Saria is the only weapon in the game that reduces Action Skill cooldown. The name and flavor text references the character of the same name from the game "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time"


Gold
Type: Knife
Unique Effect: Doubles sell value
Flavor: "Ooh, shiny"
Trivia: This was the first Legendary weapon coded into the game, alongside the Zangetsu. It was later reduced in rarity and replaced with the "Conductor" Legendary knife


Rare Armors

Turtle
Type: Shield
Unique Effect: Never generates with BONUSHP accessory. Reduces max HP by 15%. Generates with double the DEF stat of shields of similar quality
Flavor: "Crunchy outside, chewy inside"
Trivia: The name and effect of this shield is inspired by the Turtle Shields from the "Borderlands" game series


Spite
Type: Shield
Unique Effect: Always generates with THORNS accessory. THORNS damage will be inflicted against enemies when hit with both physical and magical attacks
Flavor: "Right back at you"
Trivia: The Spite is the only armor in the game that inflicts THORNS damage when hit with a magical attack


Curse
Type: Helmet
Unique Effect: Always generates with REGEN accessory. Provides double normal regen, but negative, dealing damage instead of healing. Killing an enemy with the Curse equipped will instantly restore 15% of the characters max HP
Flavor: "Feed the craving"
Trivia: Since the Curse is locked into generating with a REGEN accessory, but the accessory is not functional, the Curse technically will generate with worse components than even an uncommon helmet of similar quality, since uncommon helmets (while only having one component) can generate with any accessory


Laurel
Type: Circlet
Unique Effect: Increases chance of being inflicted with all status ailments by 20%. Reduces status ailment duration by half
Flavor: "Don't rest on it"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a common phrase, "Don't rest on your Laurels"


Camouflage
Type: Clothes
Unique Effect: Sets targeting priority (the rate at which enemies target you) to 1, as opposed to the base 5
Flavor: "Now you see me"
Trivia: This is the only armor that reduces enemy targeting priority. It has the opposite effect of the Vanguard legendary gauntlet.


Avatar
Type: Robe
Unique Effect: Decreases chance of being inflicted with status ailments by 20%. Increases duration of status ailments by 5 turns
Flavor: "Baby, you're my forever girl"
Trivia: The name and flavor text is a reference to a quote from the TV series, "Avatar: The Last Airbender"


Phantom
Type: Badge
Unique Effect: Generates with extremely low DEF and RES. Increases max HP by 40%
Flavor: "Your soul is a beautiful thing"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a partial quote from "The Phantom of the Opera"


Sanctity
Type: Necklace
Unique Effect: Never generates with COOLDOWN accessory. Increases duration of all passive turn based effects (Action Skills, Kill Skills, Status Ailments, etc.) by 5 turns at the time of application
Flavor: "'Til death do us part"
Trivia: The name and flavor text references a common phrase used in wedding ceremonies
