Hello friends!
Omen of Rain is a RPG Maker VX Ace adventure game made by quiesphere (to pratice with this engine), even if the term "game" is probably a bit too much since this short interactive experience consist only in a short adventure with a couple of tasks and three cutscenes, not a lot, but if you want to play a short adventure game, that's an interesting scenario.
Omen of Rain starts with our protagonist, Hans, arriving at the old shed that was a hideout and playground for him and his two friends, Bernard and Tobias, during their childhood. The three agreed to come back there fifteen years later they were separated, due to their families moving from their little town to other cities. Has is the one that arrives first on the spot, and now it's time to remember some childhood memories...
Everything started from a dark stormy night, when our friends stayed inside this old shed...
The game takes places in just TWO maps, the exterior of the shed, near the woods, and the interior. Everything, both in the present and in the past, takes place in these two locations, that are extremely well designed, rich of little details and many different interactions. As an adventure, it's pretty simple, you just need to find some items and use them on the right spot to progress with the plot. It's a charming, atmospheric and also quite unsettling and creepy towards the ending, even if there is no real horror or jumpscare, still some things are never explained like.
Visually the game is really beautiful, the charsets are nice (pity there aren't facesets) and they have different poses and movements during the cutscenes. There are lots of details and interactions with the environment despite being really limited, but nothing is left out. Music is also good and really atmospheric, made by Hirokazu Akiyama and Tim Kahn (from freesound.org). Sounda are also appropriate, like the rain and the thunder, and others I cannot remember, but all is pretty much ok from this point of view even if the rain sound seems to have a second of silence where it loops. I also I'd used some sound of music for the part where Hans encounters his friends again, that part is eerily silent.
Aside for these little issues I did not find any problems, not typos, nor mapping errors, but the game is pretty small, so lets leave other thoughs for the end of the review.
And this is the place at the present time. What's inside the box??? No, nothing terrible, this is not a horror game!
Final Verdict
While I'm pretty sure that the game has just one ending, there are some parts I wasn't able to grasp. The game in fact leaves some parts unclear with the final cutscene (play the game, then check the spoiler above!), but I guess that each player can find the answers. OR I missed something, but hey, I played the game twice! In any case it's very short but very well done, polished, and with well made custom assets, music and sounds. All is competently made, so give it a run and then tell me what you think about the story... it's just 5 minutes long!

the red rocks, and the amulet, I also wonder why the setting is changed in the last moments of the epilogue. All is pretty much clear and pretty simple until the last cutscene

Thank you so much for your review!!! I appreciate it a lot! :')
I agree that the story ended up quite confusing. It's meant to be like a hint puzzle, but even then it's still barely explained (mostly I didn't want to overload the text with a lot of explanations being such a short game). Aside from practicing atmosphere design and mapping, it ended up being a storytelling practice too. I have a long way to learn to tell stories with the environment and subtle hints, but I'm glad it was still enjoyable!! I'm especially glad you liked the maps!
(I wrote an afterword after I finished it with a lot more thoughts on its development, inspirations and story, if you want to check it out here it is!)
