---FEATURED GAME JULY 2010 UPDATE---
Thanks to everyone who enjoyed Tiamat Sacrament and helped make it featured game for July 2010. The game practically hatched from the crucible of RMN, so it means a lot to have it recognized by those who watched it grow in development.
_______________________________________________________________________________

As Max McGee once advised I point out, "THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THIS GAME IS A DRAGON."

Here is the system2c file that some people have reported is missing from the RTP-free download (just drop image into your RTP/system2 folder): http://rpgmaker.net/users/Drakonais/locker/system2c.png

IMPORTANT NOTE: The version linked to the "Download Now" button is only for people with Rm2k3 and the RTP installed on their computer. If you don't have RM2k3 RTP, there is a version in the downloads section that includes the necessary files.

ALSO IMPORTANT: If you downloaded v 1.0 and have run into a bug (like the notorious movement speed slowdown after certain events in Draslin) chances are it's fixed in the newer version. To get the fix:
1.) Find your save file in the Tiamat Sacrament project folder and move it to your desktop
2.) Download version 1.1 (either with RTP or without, depending on your needs) and install it
3.) Move your save file from your desktop into the new project folder and load up your game

COMPLETE RELEASE

Flash Teaser: http://rpgmaker.net/media/content/users/4181/locker/DragonFlash.swf

The Tiamat Sacrament currently is 100% complete, with about 20 or more hours of gameplay. Some sections, like the stealth missions and Vulcan Cannon dodging, are now skippable for those who are experiencing extreme lag in those parts. I've had several bug testers crunch through the entire game and it should be smooth sailing, but let me know by PM if you run into any trouble and I'll be quick to fix it.

SKILL ACQUISITION

Each character has a unique way of learning and utilizing their skills, from Blue Magic-style skill acquisition to element combo breath attacks that take multiple turns to build up.

1.) Az'uar, the dragon and main character, has 35 different possible class evolutions. Each class brings with it a different and unique skill and its own set of weaknesses and strengths. Additionally, having a Soul Gem equipped in battle adds automatically to unique variables that eventually impart skills of their own. Think Magicite from FFVI. This is on top of the breath techniques he can use by inhaling up to three Runes at a time.

2.) Xandra, the scholar and artist, can learn skills by observing enemies use them in battle. She can acquire over 40 different skills in this fashion, with each serving a special purpose and scaling to her intelligence as she levels up. She comes in handy as support for the two fighting characters, but can deal elemental damage and status effects as well.

3.) Kelburn, the Saphirite lieutenant, can wield two Rune Blades at once. While each Rune Blade comes with its unique skill while equipped, the characteristics of two Rune Blades equipped simultaneously blend together and create a new and even more powerful skill (e.g. a poison blade and a double-attack blade create an even more powerful poison skill). Furthermore, when Az'uar inhales, Kelburn temporarily learns Rune Blade skills that typically focus Az'uar's breath into a targeted attack (e.g. a heal all spell becomes a heal one ally spell that's much more effective).

Every skill employed by enemies in battle is obtainable and can used by one the party's three heroes under the right conditions.

GAMEPLAY

The game is heavily story-driven with plenty of puzzles along the way. I've retooled the battles so that they are challenging but don't drag out or slow down game progress. I've made a point to design the game so no one should have to grind. I'm not saying you can't grind for extra levels, but if you use the right tactic, you won't have to mill around fighting random encounters to succeed. Hopefully, with 35 different dragon evolutions and a bunch of optional quests with extra skills and items to be found, the player will be able to customize their gameplay experience.

Each of the three characters have an ability set that depends heavily on the abilities of teammates. This system makes for strategic use of attacks, items, buffs, and specials. I hope you enjoy the game and leave any feedback you might have.

More people need to play this.
i'm stuck at the rock pushing puzzle in the badlands cave, can anyone help me out?
I'm stuck in the first cave puzzle in the game. I tried pushing the first boulder down the hole to the ground level but have no idea what to do after that! Can anyone help me out?

Here's a hint:

If you push it into the doorway that was opening by pressing a switch, it will prevent that opening from sealing back up when you activate a different switch. Think of it as propping the door open.
@Ociris: I'm trying to figure out a way to take video from the puzzles in the game so that people have a reference if they're stuck. There's no easy answer if you're stuck there, except maybe
that you'll need to move something on one path to progress down another.

@Yamata: Solitayre's got you covered.
So, I play it again.
It is as good as I thought, but there were some issues I wanted to note (Dunno if I should post it there, but anyways...)

First thing I notice is that first battles seem much less tedious... much easier (and it was good thing - later it becomes harder)

Second thing - there some serious balance issues with dragon evolution - you should not, for example, allow second evolution before Knoas, and final before getting third party member!
(Or not allow pseudo-runes to be used in evolution)
(It was because I was familiar with rune using, and was not reluctant to use them as a normal way of attack/defence(now its usage is even comfortable and I kinda got carried away. . .So I became tier 3 before Knoas (even as Dragon Shard hunting) and it couldnt inhale once before being beaten >_<)

Also, my choice of final form( which came qute sooner than I thought) was quite broken, if a bit dangerous, In a way, it was almost ultimate "glass cannon".
I'm speaking about "Cursed Dragon" and all-powerful ability "mirror curse" (being able to attack all enemies? For 600-1500? Wiht a 0 MP?? Just for a "Degen" status? Something seems off..
Yes, it's still no pushover as dragon becomes quite possible to fall, but still...

This leads to second thing...Diamond Lure... Which I gaind before I was expected to find. Well, the problem is not fishie was out-of-level, I'm OK with that (In FF,Valkyrie Profile and many others it was not such a rare occasion ^^'')...But two facts: It is used automatically(not thing I like), and in encounter with giant fishie there are third person in dialog(even before Knoas, I checked)...

All that things aren't quite bad, and too cheesy t tactics and ways to go, which lead to confusion should be just avoided (just as Vanish/Doom)...but...just thought I should mention it...

Nice artwork,btw

And overall nice game)

May post, when I remember/find something to post
I have a problem with the mythril jump puzzle. (the one in the lava)
when I pull the switches and jump on the mythril, my games freezes.
Im not sure if this is a bug but my screen also flashes black in that room.
@Rjak: Glad you're enjoying it, and I definitely appreciate your comments. In testing, I noticed that Swing Blade and Mirror Curse are both a little overpowered so I've decided to add an MP cost for Xandra in addition to the setbacks Az'uar suffers.

I'm very interested in knowing where you stumbled upon a Diamond Lure early in the game, there should only be one way to find this. Let me know at what point you realized you had the item and I'll see if I can erase the event that gave it to you.

Let me know if you find anything else!

@Blood: I can't understand why that would happen. Are you using Windows 7 or an earlier version? Win 7 has some flickering issues with RM2k3, but you can improve the quality if you shrink the window by pressing F4 while playing the game. Let me know if this doesn't fix the problem.
I think I got it from attaining final dragon form...
Well, after thinkin' a bit imagined a way for "Cursed Dragon" to be more interesting/balanced

The way I imagine it, "miror curse" is quite a ritualistic process...
So:
*) I've thought to add HP cost to Xandra with small MP cost.
*)Make "Comdemned" activatable skill with 0 MP cost
and have change the way it works -
(for example, no soulgem and/or natural skills or breath would usable without unleashing your curse, but have some kind of unique skill, which is not overkill, but usable only without unlocking )

So it would make quite a time and HP to activate mirror curse, and it will make sense to activate it if you can manage surviving.
Sorry , I know, it sounds a bit confusing, but after fork my english writing skills are not as good as they should be..
Hope to post some kind of outset which would make more sense later

*tireed*
I'm not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but I'm experiencing a very large bug right now.

It's the second strategy board fight, and, every single time, on the very first enemy turn, the cursor points to an empty space and acts as though it's a unit. However, the unit never moves, and so the game does not continue.

Basically, the game freezes. I can't for the life of me figure out why this is. I have Windows XP Professional, so it's not something about Windows 7 or Vista.

I really can't figure it out...
Well I found a minor bug in the game:

When I go to the Fire Ring (you know where you fight monsters for prizes) with Kelburn and trying to get rank A the last battle is impossible!! Because the enemies that appear are an anacond and a ghost, and the ghost can't be killed by Kelburn, I tried every posible skill combination and sword combination, and all of them resulted in 0 damage.

But aside from that it is an Incredible game.

Great Work!!
Now I found A major Bug!!
I don´t know if this has happened to anyone but after Darslin's Destruction Az'uar moves way slower that he used to, this isn't so bad but the problem is that when I am trying to get to the Dragon City I can't go past the gusts of wind because I can't get to the third stone on time!!!

I dont know if this is because I am using Vista or what but please help!!
The issues in all of the latest posts have been corrected in version 1.1! Check the top of the game profile for update instructions and all of your problems will be solved.
Well I guess I should post my review.
Plot and main character awesome
Custom made things awesome
Puzzles massive pain in ass. Currently stuck in badlands cave. Always one remain blocking my patch damn.( I have no idea how I passed ice cave either)
If you defeat a dragon a secret trasure opens up in previous location. Those items there are really awesome.
To sum up Pure awesomness- puzzles
Btw Can t you make version without puzzles? It is not like they are vital.
