Quite an interesting concept. And look, bonus bosses!

As most people know, Ephiam is the creator of Dragon Fantasy, and it is a highly popular RPG maker series. It combines the best of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy into one, and i must say, it works fantastically.

Now then, i noticed there was no review for this game quite yet, for some reason. So, i decided to review it!

Gameplay: 5/5
Well, see, Dragon Fantasy Boss is completely based on, well, fighting bosses. There are shops, of course, but the whole focus of the game is fighting.

Most of the bosses are actually quite challenging, as since you can't just grind for 50+ hours, you can't have limitless amounts of cash. Thus, you must SPEND MONEY WISELY.

I am in love with the battle system. Sure, it's the default battle system. But then again, the default battle system was MODELLED after Dragon Quest, so it works quite well.

Battles were decently challengeing, especially Giruvegan. (Fire Weaken + Fire Breath is so annoying.)
All the bosses present in this game can be found in Dragon Fantasy, EXCEPT 3 NEW bosses. Yup, the 3 unused bosses finally have a purpose. Riffles, Korbeink, and Shadow Master. To tell you the truth i found all the bosses, including the new ones, very entertaining. Some of them were too easy,(Crystal Demon.) Some were much too hard,(Guardian Beast.)and some were quite interesting and fun to fight. (Veryl.)

2.Storyline: N/A
Well, the whole game is based on BOSSES, so there really is no storyline. It seems a bit unfair to rate the game on this when it doesn't even have one. To me, it felt the whole game could be a bonus dungeon for Dragon Fantasy, which would completely fill in the missing storyline existing within it. But, since it is not, the storyline does not exist in any form or way.

3.Music: 3/5
The same thing with the graphics. They somewhat tend to get old after a few floors of hearing the same Tower/Boss/Victory music. (Perhaps make every floor have slightly different music?) At least the final boss had unique music.

4. Graphics/Mapping: 3.5/5
The whole game takes place in a tower. There is a floor for every boss. Pretty much EVERY floor looks EXACTLY the same. It gets boring seeing the same thing every time. I know the whole purpose of the game is fighting bosses, but still, could you try to make the floors more unique? Perhaps make it so the floor a boss is on is the same as the floor when you meet them in Dragon Fantasy. (Chrono Trigger recycled old maps in its bonus dungeon for the ds version. Why don't you try doing that?)

The sprites used were taken from Dragon Quest, and frankly, they look pretty good. There really isn't much you can complain about them at all.

6.Replayability: 3/5
Well, there really is no replay value. Beating the game once does not offer a New Game + or anything like that. But, if you do want to beat those bosses without the storyline/annoying npc's/random encounters getting in the way, fell free to.

Overall: 4/5
The graphics and music are very nice, although somewhat repetitive. The gameplay is really fun, and the annoyances of normal rpgs won't get in the way. The mapping gets boring as well, but the bosses make up for it by being pretty fun and challenging.

I think 4/5 is a perfect rating for this, as the gameplay more then makes up for everything else.
