Story

According to one theory, Earth's moon was formed by collision with another planetoid early in our solar system's history. This theoretical planetoid is known as Theia, the mother of Selene (the moon) in early Hellene mythology.

The theory states that Theia would have been completely consumed in the collision, its mass integrated with Earth's.

Why, then, in the outer reaches of the Oort cloud, where astronomers expect to find only comets and isolated bodies of ice, has a planet been found whose composition exactly compliments planet Theia of the Giant Impact theory? Almost a light-year away from the Sun, it hangs on by a mere slip of a gravitational tether, and would certainly have been long lost to the system were its orbit not almost immeasurably slow.

Wherever it came from, it was the last beacon of hope for White Horse Enterprises, a sluggish corporation whose dewy-eyed business ethics made it uncompetitive in the corrupt, overpopulated world of 2072. They established a mining facility on Planet Theia as a showcase for their progressive, philanthropic business practices. In the words of White Horse's CEO: "This venture will go forward, and it will establish a precedent that only an act of God can supersede."

The venture seemed doomed for bankruptcy until a survey drone uncovered what appeared to be an alien artifact, deep under the planet's surface. Desperately needing to capitalize on the discovery, the admins have planned an investor's gala in the P. Lowell Executive Chalet, a small luxury resort with a stunning view of the mining installation, where the artifact will be unveiled to the public.

... And now, for some reason, you've just woken up on the floor of your sleep quarters. You have no recollection of the last week, and your co-workers have turned into monsters. Your only guidance is a droning automated announcement system and the clues your colleagues left behind before losing their minds.

Welcome to Planet Theia. It's always dark out.

My god we're going back for this one

Two days ago I finally started using Rogaine, even though I'm about 15 years too late for it to make a difference!

Well we all know how it goes, I still want to shake the usual farts out of the bedsheets and say that sOmEdAy ThIs PrOjEcT wIlL bE dOnE i PrOmIsE but it looks to be something that I'll have to be toying with on and off for years and maybe finish it when I'm 50. Because I was visited by that terrible spectre of Another Idea For A Game That Seems Like It Will Be Less Work And More Likely To Pay Off Than The Current Idea (AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI). I've actually been working on the AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI for the last year. I don't want to be an idiot who strings along projects for years and then never finishes anything because of yet another AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI, with the old tune of i'Ll GeT bAcK tO tHiS pRoJeCt OnCe ThE nEw OtHeR iDeA iS dOnE. Every time I do this I lose more and more confidence in myself. But the AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI can be very seductive.

The latest AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI is a furry-themed building management sim made in Game Maker, and the building that you're managing is a public bathroom. You place facilities like toilets and sinks and make money by selling different types of septic effluent. It leans heavily on the vulgar subject matter, because furries like that sort of thing. But it's not really an RPG so I don't want to make a project page here. Does anyone know of another website where I might make a project page for that sort of game?

...So wait, no matter what, it's always option B, especially if it's boring?

Gibmaker should now;
A) Focus his attention on Forkits
B) DROP EVERYTHING ELSE AND FINISH SET DISCREPANCY (while watching paint dry)
C) Take a vacation

And now I feel bad that I never got to the end of the chapter with all the locked doors. I'm no good with locked doors. Aniwai, this is and shall probably remain in the top 3 of the best games to ever grace this site, even incomplete and with so many locked doors. So no need for guilt and sorrow, except as midbosses in a Kojima game.

Locked doors in Chapter 6 are easily bypassed if you've got a high enough Hack stat. Your hacking doesn't even need to be successful, since due to the best glitch in the whole game, failing a hack in Chapter 6 and then choosing cancel makes the hack successful either way! 8D

I GUESS YOU GOT ME.

Glitches in your favour are A-okay.
Hi. I wanted to try out your game but it won't start. Is there a way to fix this issue?

Try installing the font yourself through your operating system. Just double-clicking the font file ought to do it.

Been making progress very slowly. Not very much pretty stuff to look at yet.

Hacking looks like this.

Yesssss.

That is an extremely technical-looking hacking minigame and I am intrigued.

edit: there is a chance that is not a hacking minigame and is actually you working on the game, in which case I am dumb.

I'd like to think it's more than a minigame, it's actual in-universe "software" that the game actually executes in order to do things like grant security access. You can break in by just extracting the software and looking at it (because the code might be part of the program) or you can change the software and put it back, but watch out because you can brick devices if you do it wrong.
That is some bold Hack 'n' Slash style design.

I look forward to bricking my actual real computer by failing with it. :D
Really glad this is still going, even if slowly.

Did I told you The best thing I likes about your game was the writing? Sure, in terms of originality it seems to took alot of cue from Dead Space and Doom (forgive me if I'm wrong) but not that it was a bad thing at all. I cannot stress enough how human your characters are and how they interact with each other. Most amateur RPG games often write their protag either as a sociopathic know-it-all or completely clueless about what they're doing but yours are never the case at all. You gave us a level headed, optimistic guy who is competent at his own job but still understandably confused at the predicament he's in and reacts accordingly. I really likes this tone.

Also please, expand the crafting system, the next best thing about your game. add something like more weapon attachments or utility equipments.

Thanks for the comment :3

The way this project is going it's becoming almost a space station simulator more than an RPG, so it might be more appropriate to have sandbox-style gameplay instead of a structured story, which sadly means not as much room for characterization in the writing. But I guess I'll see when we get there.

Not sure how crafting from scratch will look, but I plan to make weapons n' equipment highly modifiable where part of the game is to discover new ways to improve performance ... for example, performance of guns will be based on the muzzle length and you're free to set whatever muzzle length you want, and part of gameplay would be to find the optimal muzzle length either by experimenting or by finding in-game documents about the equipment etc

To you also :3
I just finished Chapter 5 in 9 hours encountering 3 literally game-breaking bugs (luckily I'm a save-game maniac) xD and I enjoyed every moment of it. Btw will this game be continued? I just want to know the ending VERY badly. Thank you very much for this game. It's very fun and amazing!

Ahh, I'm happy you put up with the game-breaking bugs, I know the most recent release of this project isn't exactly in a clean state. I have been continuing this game but the newest version is probably going to have a much different story, if it has a story at all. It might turn out this game is more suited as a sandbox/simulation/rougelike game. But we'll see.
I will miss the original story, but a more open-ended version of the game would be cool too.
A reminder that you still have atleast one fan right here. Also, merry Christmas ^_^
