Features

100% Custom Interface: Players command the party using a targetting dial that identifies important features of a room and the ways to interact with them.

Randomly-generated Game World - The layout of areas and the locations of key items are determined randomly at the beginning of each new game.

Customizable Characters: Spend experience points to improve your character using an intuitive, user-directed training interface.

Original Graphics: Original characters, creatures, items and splash art.

A Chilling Sci-fi Horror Setting - A setting and storyline influenced by sources as diverse as System Shock 2, Freelancer, Dead Space, John Carpenter's The Thing, and Dante's Inferno.

Story

According to one theory, Earth's moon was formed by collision with another planetoid early in our solar system's history. This theoretical planetoid is known as Theia, the mother of Selene (the moon) in early Hellene mythology.

The theory states that Theia would have been completely consumed in the collision, its mass integrated with Earth's.

Why, then, in the outer reaches of the Oort cloud, where astronomers expect to find only comets and isolated bodies of ice, has a planet been found whose composition exactly compliments planet Theia of the Giant Impact theory? Almost a light-year away from the Sun, it hangs on by a mere slip of a gravitational tether, and would certainly have been long lost to the system were its orbit not almost immeasurably slow.

Wherever it came from, it was the last beacon of hope for White Horse Enterprises, a sluggish corporation whose dewy-eyed business ethics made it uncompetitive in the corrupt, overpopulated world of 2072. They established a mining facility on Planet Theia as a showcase for their progressive, philanthropic business practices. In the words of White Horse's CEO: "This venture will go forward, and it will establish a precedent that only an act of God can supersede."

The venture seemed doomed for bankruptcy until a survey drone uncovered what appeared to be an alien artifact, deep under the planet's surface. Desperately needing to capitalize on the discovery, the admins have planned an investor's gala in the P. Lowell Executive Chalet, a small luxury resort with a stunning view of the mining installation, where the artifact will be unveiled to the public.

... And now, for some reason, you've just woken up on the floor of your sleep quarters. You have no recollection of the last week, and your co-workers have turned into monsters. Your only guidance is a droning automated announcement system and the clues your colleagues left behind before losing their minds.

Welcome to Planet Theia. It's always dark out.

My god we're going back for this one

Two days ago I finally started using Rogaine, even though I'm about 15 years too late for it to make a difference!

Well we all know how it goes, I still want to shake the usual farts out of the bedsheets and say that sOmEdAy ThIs PrOjEcT wIlL bE dOnE i PrOmIsE but it looks to be something that I'll have to be toying with on and off for years and maybe finish it when I'm 50. Because I was visited by that terrible spectre of Another Idea For A Game That Seems Like It Will Be Less Work And More Likely To Pay Off Than The Current Idea (AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI). I've actually been working on the AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI for the last year. I don't want to be an idiot who strings along projects for years and then never finishes anything because of yet another AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI, with the old tune of i'Ll GeT bAcK tO tHiS pRoJeCt OnCe ThE nEw OtHeR iDeA iS dOnE. Every time I do this I lose more and more confidence in myself. But the AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI can be very seductive.

The latest AIFAGTSLIWBLWAMLTPOTTCI is a furry-themed building management sim made in Game Maker, and the building that you're managing is a public bathroom. You place facilities like toilets and sinks and make money by selling different types of septic effluent. It leans heavily on the vulgar subject matter, because furries like that sort of thing. But it's not really an RPG so I don't want to make a project page here. Does anyone know of another website where I might make a project page for that sort of game?

I thought the whole point of the section was "when your environment is about to decompress, do not dither with item-gathering." Adding (randomly placed) special items to the section means that completionists are going to have to do multiple runthroughs of it in order to locate them all, which is torturous.

That is definitely the point.

Also I thought the soldering lasers were pretty special, because I hadn't found any in a long time, and I had some upgrading to do (upgrading the wield rate on the shotgun so it's reasonably accurate is the shit. I heart my M37). After the first run through, I realized there was nothing else worth searching, and made it through just picking up those things. Barely.

It's an interesting logical/tactical exercise in having searching done by only the party members with extra AP so everyone can move on as one cohesive group...also I believe getting one character (in this case, Cambridge) through the airlock saves the other characters from a nasty fate. Compared to 'countdowns' in most games, which are fairly soft, this one was pretty thrilling.
During my latest playthrough, I knew this sequence was coming and did my best to prepare for it. I cranked AP for everyone but my MC. Even so, I still ended up ignoring all items and doing a hell-for-leather dash for the end of the decompressing section. Spending any time at all searching meant having to wait another turn before moving, which meant not getting everyone to the end of the section in time to dismantle the barricade and complete a skill check.

I agree that the airlock sequence is thrilling, and I like that, but I think including secret content here would be a really frustrating design decision.

BUG UPDATE:

Firing a shotgun (etc.) is definitely costing two AP (two Xs) BEFORE the attack hits or the enemy dies!

OK, PERHAPS IT'S THE SHOTGUN
because i did tinker with your save file and didn't find anything weird. :X You are using the latest version right? (1.1.1.1)

Well, that was the point originally but it did not stop some people from checking everything anyway. :\ And they felt sad that their efforts did not pay off. There probably won't be anything unique, maybe just one or two big stashes of nanites or something. As if you needed more nanites.

Out of curiosity, why is there an option to make the shotgun more accurate, but not the pistol?
Because the pistol is all ready maximum accuracy! Or rather, it has the minimum possible skill requirement. (Zero) It is in fact the only zero-level tech roll in the game!

It's not the Shotgun. Any weapon any character uses costs exactly two SP. Not 1. Not 3. I've confirmed this. And yes, I have the latest version.

I upgraded my MC to Aptitude 3 (in order to qualify for using the assault rifle) and therefore

Fair enough, but there should be really an option to reduce the Wield requirement on the M22. I've upgraded it like three times now using a character whose primary skill is WIELD, not upgrading things, and still I'm unable to actually use it. Wield 5 is ridiculously expensive.

On the plus side, when I do get to use it I can feed it all the standard bullets in the world; I have a million of the damn things because I only use armor piercing or shotgun shells.
You can always turn your standard bullets into crazy bullets with the appropriate diagrams. Alternately, the assault rifle is a good way to burn through copious amounts of regular bullets.

OTHER ISSUES--(drunkpost)

While I'm still a huge fan of Set Discrepancy, I am quite frustrated with this game right now (end of Part 3, Flight Control puzzle). It doesn't seem to behave as well when the party's all split up, as for the Flight Control puzzle. I LIKE the Flight Control puzzle in theory, perhaps because it's not so much a puzzle as a logical sequence of actions that make internal sense, and I like that. However, I have a few problems:

1) Why the FUCK is "the CEO's (Kimberly Saga's) outer office" (as mentioned in Woody Wesley Guthrie's relevant log) not the same room as "CEO Reception". And what the FUCK room is it? Between 3:00AM and 4:30AM last night I was looking for it to no avail. The fuck's this job number dawg?
2) The game in general doesn't behave too well when the whole party is split up. Specifically, while Cambridge is on her own doing stuff near the CEO's office, during combat she'll take her one action, then I'll hit S to Wait on my MC back in Flight Control, then my PC will get another turn, preventing the NPCs from getting any actions. I'm not actually complaining, as it kept Cambridge alive which was much appreciated, but that's probably a bug.
3) Fatal crash bug when I had Cambridge use a Sedation Hypo {on herself}. Lost 90 minutes of progress since I was last able to save. Sadness.

OH NO, DRINK AND SD TO WASH THE PAIN AWAY :O

Well I figured out what makes the AP bug happen. You are selecting "Attack" on the enemies to initiate an attack, as opposed to selecting the weapons, right? THIS SEEMS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. Instead, select the weapon to attack or press 'A' (which is a shortcut to select weapons) and this will not occur.

Well, maybe. But kind of the point was to tantalize/annoy you by dropping a high-level weapon early on to give you a goal for upgrading your characters.

And your assumption was right in that Wesley's desk is in the CEO Reception room. :O After you do the "Send Memo" thing you should be able to "Investigate" the desk to receive the number. If not, then it's another bug, and I will have to start drinking too.

That's probably what kumada told you.

I will investigate the hypo crash after drinking.

Now go to sleep.
total nube question, but hopefully someone takes the time: this is the first game i'm playing on here. i downloaded, ran exe, clicked game, got error saying script temp line error permission denied. FAQ says something about needing a RTP. can someone help?

That's odd, unlike older versions RMXP isn't supposed to require an RTP to run. Can you take a screenshot of the error exactly as it appears?
So I tried to drop some consumables on the floor to make room in my inventory for a schematic. I interpret said Schematic, then pick up the consumables, only to find that I lost a majority of them. It seems that every time you drop several units of consumables, they get truncated down to around 1 or 2 every time.

Also, I'm in the Med/Sci Module, and just recently got Elumir. Is Dr. Columbine a lost cause, or is there some way to sedate her? I tried using Parasitic Synthesis on her, and a "dizzy" symbol showed up above her head, appearing to weaken her, but there was no other effect, and appealing is only selectable once and doesn't seem to do much.

Sorry about that happening. :O I'll find out why and fix it.

And no, you can't sedate Dr. Columbine, you just have to put up with her attacks until you escape to the next section.
