Because you see today I got a r8 scare when my computer screwed up and wouldn`t start, and the problem was that my slave drive was overheating. And on this slave drive was RPG Maker. And we all know what would happen if something happened to this game and the drive was wiped or something.
Thanks to Enterbrain's stupid copy protection measures, I can't just move the game to another drive. Believe me, I've tried. But yeah. Still.
BE SURE TO BACK UP ALL YOUR WORK AND SAVE OFTEN.

I have 2 thumbdrives, a home laptop and a worklaptop (and RMN). Yet in a span of a month my one thumbdrive (the main one!) stopped working, my home PC died a hard death, and my work laptop's encryption program corrupted the harddrive and it had to be wiped.
I lost a bunch of work related documents.... but my RM projects were safe!
I also suggest something like Dropbox or Skydrive.

I saw that title, and I panicked just a little. Glad to hear everything's alright and your project's safe, Gib.
but how dead hard drive related to suicide... my hard drive last week and i didn't think about suicide...
author=jomarcenterDude..really? :P

Lol, anyway good thing all your data's safe and sound man~ :D
Yeah, I saw the title and I admit it; my heart skipped a beat or two. Don't scare us like that! :D Incidentally, what you said about copy protection is pretty worrying; you REALLY can't move the game that YOU are designing onto another drive?? How the hell does that work and what on earth would possess Enterbrain to come up with such an utterly retarded implementation? :|
Um. I guess the symbolism was lost, haha. He meant that losing the source and work-in-progress to Set Discrepancy would almost be a suicide-event, not just losing the HDD.

Thank you commenters. :)
Yes.
I mean RPG Maker itself can't be moved to a different location. It says that it can't "aquire a license" or some crap if you try. I've tried busting open the registry to see if there is a pointer in there I can change but I couldn't figure anything out. I didn't want to muck around too much and possibly ruin it.

That is just.... dear god. Why, Enterbrain? :( It's on the same machine, for crying out loud, it shouldn't matter where you move the files. Well I'm just glad you didn't lose anything.
Yep, almost crapped myself when I saw the title of this.
Are you from the north of England now? ._.

Oh, there's three or four in there you'd have to change the paths for.. depends on if you use a 64-bit or 32-bit machine as well (as far as where the registries are located)

Ahh I always ruin things instead of fixing them. :( Mine is 64-bit.

No, but I watch Jerry Jackson films.
I am sorry to surprise and worry many people.

I am r8 glad that this happenstance did not cause the loss of SD, my friend.
