Hilarious, not buggy and no bears included!

Corporal Buggy Bear is a comedy game, and a quite long one, compared to others. A game with no combat, a sort of mix of adventure/puzzle game and fantasy parody.

The protagonist of this game is... none other than Corporal Buggy Bear! This guy is a castle guard, a dumb thug that is also a psychopath and a terrible tennis player. For this reason he's sent to perform an apparently "simple" quest: stop the rebellion that the peasants organized against the tyrannical king that rules his land. Will he succeed? Well this will be just the beginning of the adventures of an unlikely hero!

I could. But will you resist?

Corporal Buggy Bear can be divided into three Acts: the village, the astral prison and the castle. Each one will provide various puzzles and quests that have to be solved and the lenght is more or less one hour each (I finished the game in about three hours and 30/40 minuted). The game is linear, but really funny!

Our hero will meet a lot of strange characters in his adventure, from wimpy demons to incompetent tricksters, angry old men and immortal chickens, zombies and talking mushrooms, and many others. It's a fantasy game and also a parody, I do not think there's any way to die so take your time and explore everything and talk to anyone, because when it's not useful at least is entertaining! Yes, there are lots of optional dialogues and details that aren't useful but enrich the experience and the comedic value of this game.

The gameplay consists in fetch quests, chases, labyrinths, puzzle with crates, levers and buttons, and other classical adventure tasks, but these are really pleasant, easy and well done that you will have fun. It's also possible to save anywhere and to repeat each task you fail, so don't worry too much, it's a game made to entertain, not to frustrate. Not every activity will be so easy that you will finish it on your first try, I am sure, but in the end there is nothing too hard or frustrating.

No, wait... SERIOUSLY???

Anyway the best part of the game is the humor and various situations, despite he fact that the protagonist is probably the dumbest character of the land. Luckily he is really tough and soon joined by a trust companion, but, as usual, I won't tell you more about the story.

Anything bad? Well there are some typos, and the final parts of the game have less interactivity with the scenario, except for what is needed to progress the story. And then there's the SLOW walking speed. I get it, Corporal Buggy Bear wears a full plate armor, but he walks SO slowly! And you will have to walk a lot, really...
A minor issue its that sometimes it is not clear what you are supposed to do, but that's a minor complaint, because I am sure that after few tries you will understand what is needed to progress. Also the use of RTP may be a turnoff, mapping is serviceable and functional but not too rich of details... but this is not the focus of the game.

Meet quirky and interesting characters!

Verdict
This is an adventure game, stats are never used and equipment and skills are present but it is totally useless. Despite the lack of combat and typical jrpg features, this game works thanks to the mix of puzzles, minigames and humor. It's a brilliant comedy game that makes me ask for a sequel or a similar adventure, because it's not very long but well done. Characters stand out, and I also had fun fighting a giant squid and using a trained mouse to force a guard to press a button. There are so many clever ideas in this game that I cannot give a score inferior to 4/5.

Pretty good!
Play it, it's a game with no bears or bugs.
