"Would you stake your life on a world that cannot be saved?"

Version 1.07 - Released May 4th, 2012

-Strategic turn-based battles reward careful positioning and smart actions over brute force.
-No typical HP/MP drudgery - Instead, battlers have Body, Mind, and Soul ratings that serve as both health and fuel for special abilities. Knocking any of them to zero means defeat, so heroes beware!
-No level grinding or money hoarding!
-Diverse elemental and weapon-versus-armor system for all sorts of exploitative goodness.
-Structured mission-based gameplay means you'll never have to wander around figuring out where to go next.
-Oh, and no random encounters either, because, seriously.
-Over a dozen colorful characters to recruit and train.
-20+ hours of adventure - multiple secrets, sidequests, and endings!

and now i really wish i'd finished this game already...
someday i will be able to read that without being spoiled.....someday
Bug report here. I'm still sort of new to this community, and I'd love to play this game, but it keeps telling me "RGSS104E.dll not found" when I load up the application. There's a "RGSS102E.dll" in the game folder, which is an 'application extension' file type, so I renamed it RGSS104E.dll and things booted up fine.

What, exactly, was going on here, and is this going to blow up in my face?

That's crazy! Were you the person who emailed me? I'll have him try that if not. It's some insanity with RPG Maker, I guess. I started the project in a version a few years ago, and then recompiled (quote unquote) it in a newer one after rebuying RMXP, so there might have been some disconnect there in the DLL file.

EDIT: Looks like you can search it with Google to get the correct file. I will post an uploaded version and update the game itself when I have a chance. Thanks a lot for bringing this to my attention!
I have a question, Deltree: How old is Aryn supposed to be? Was she alive during the Blue Plague outbreak? She looks fairly young during the main game. Also, does she know magic?

She was. I actually consider her an older woman; she's very much a traditionalist (wears the hood to cover her face; only speaks her own language). She probably knows a bit of divine magic, even though it never comes up in gameplay.
...She's a traditionalist? Gaaaaaah you just shot my fanfic idea to pieces. ;_; I guess I'll have to move on to my next fic idea.

But wait, if she's a traditionalist, then shouldn't she be practicing isolationism as well and not be travelling the world with Skint?

Oh she's not Kir'Sshan, but compared to someone like Lani, she's considerably more reserved. Skint didn't start his mini-crusade until after the plague got out, so she's in the boat of being "punished" for her people enslaving the shra too. That's really about the extent of what I thought out, so anything beyond that is fair game!
I...see. I'll try to figure something out.

By the way, how old was she during the Plague? I have her as a little girl when the slaver ships first arrive, but that's probably too young if she's middle-aged during the main game.

It can be pretty flexible, since they age fast and mature relatively quickly anyway. Just assume whatever's convenient unless it's stated otherwise I reckon.
Starting a new topic:

I apologize for the blog-stalking in advance, but, in your latest blog post, you mention that you think the story would have been better if the dark and light moments were a bit more spread out, instead of mostly relegated to each half of the story. Can you think of something you would have done, specifically? How would you have made the early game darker or the late game lighter?

Honestly, I think the flow works decently -- the first chapter is pretty mellow and lighthearted, but there are plenty of hints about darker things to come. I also think that chapter 4 works as a bit of a breather episode -- things don't dial all the way back, but I think it's a bit lighter and easier to swallow than chapter 3. I'm no expert though, of course, and I'm generally a serious grimdark drama kind of person anyway, so I'm probably biased.

Some of the darker stuff at the start was added later, to be honest! There are definitely a lot more "zany" moments that I would have probably removed today. Like Kidra, for instance.

I'm glad you think it works in its present form, though. I haven't heard any complaints other than in my own head, to be honest.

Also whoa, 4000 downloads broken. I don't know the count in total though, since Megaupload got nuked.
You would have removed Kidra entirely? o_O Or just changed her personality?

I'm glad you think it works in its present form, though. I haven't heard any complaints other than in my own head, to be honest.

Hm. Yeah, I can see what you talked about, but I don't think it really detracts from the story all that much. The transition may be a little jarring but is suitably dramatic. It also works well with the theme of knowledge vs. ignorance.
The is easily one of the best things I've played in ages.

Also, I named my guild Lizardpimp, and that has done nothing but enhance the gameplay experience.

Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter!
The return of the weird fanartist!!
Please cut me some slack. This is the first time I try to draw/paint Dehl's face (I cheated and drew mostly a silhouette last time)

(This is done on acrylics, actually. Can you tell? ^^) ]

Thanks again for creating this game. :)

Wow! Actual, physical media! I am crazy impressed!
Did not like the combat system and the fact that there are timers on misson(for bonus and I always want all boni) and no free saving. Stopped playing after dying at the first boss battle because I did not want to to try again because it says it does not give essence. And did not want to walk all the way again.
well i've started playing and so far it's okay I guess, the story has been a bit slow so far but I heard it get's better so i'm sticking with it. I think i'm near the end of chapter 1, something i'm wondering though is where to find the frame and analysis device, i've checked most of the chapter 1 quests and I haven't been able to find them anywhere.

Sheesh, it's been so long that I had to dig up my design doc to check!

The frame is sticking out of the ground on the "beach" quest map. It's repeatable. I think it's in a little alcove area away from the ocean.

The device drops off a Scout in the hunting map in Chapter 1.
I'm having a save issue. I just finished the mission in Fortiel with the red lizards. I missed the two that you need multiple people to capture and ended the mission (I didn't realize you probably just needed to go back to that area and not restart)

Anyway, after that I saved and got a very odd error message that I can't remember. Now every time I try to restart the game and press continue story I get this error message.

Script 'Window_Savefile' line 30 EOFError occurred
End of file reached

Then it crashes. I tried restarting a game to see if that would fix it, but just got that same message when I tried to save and it crashed again. It's probably with the Save 1 data, since it's size is only 1 KB compared with Save 2 (a previous save) of around 60 KB. Should I just erase that and continue with my old file? I want to make sure because it's about 4 hours earlier that I'd need to go through all over again.

And just so this post isn't all gloom, I absolutely loooooooved I Miss the Sunrise and started playing this because of how amazing it was, and this hasn't disappointed at all. Although there was another odd bug I had where after investigating and item as Dehl during the final dungeon of Chapter one I could no longer change characters...at least I think that was the trigger. Either way I had to restart once and nearly again a second time when it stopped letting me switch right before the boss.

But seriously, you're amazingly talented. The story, characters, music, man. I'll go on about that all later for sure in another post.
