"Would you stake your life on a world that cannot be saved?"

Version 1.07 - Released May 4th, 2012

-Strategic turn-based battles reward careful positioning and smart actions over brute force.
-No typical HP/MP drudgery - Instead, battlers have Body, Mind, and Soul ratings that serve as both health and fuel for special abilities. Knocking any of them to zero means defeat, so heroes beware!
-No level grinding or money hoarding!
-Diverse elemental and weapon-versus-armor system for all sorts of exploitative goodness.
-Structured mission-based gameplay means you'll never have to wander around figuring out where to go next.
-Oh, and no random encounters either, because, seriously.
-Over a dozen colorful characters to recruit and train.
-20+ hours of adventure - multiple secrets, sidequests, and endings!

Good luck! Let me know if I can do anything to help.

I'll make a post on my home page when I'm back at my computer.

Edit: And, done! If you're really strapped, I can join in too, if you don't think that would be too weird. Maybe I can be incognito. I was almost positive GITP would be blocked at work, but it's not! (RM sure is, and having to type more than a sentence on my phone is painful.)
Having you join would be great. I'm currently DM-ing a FFd20 game and I have the guy who made the conversion as a player, and we are all having fun, nothing weird about it. We have some interest, I think we will be able to scrape a guild together. :-)
Hope you don't mind I butchered your system a little.

Cool! To make things interesting, I might use the random character generator for The Drop and make a character that way, fitted to your numbers and rules.

It'll have to be tomorrow though, as I shall be out of town tonight.

This just made my day. I cannot wait for this one bit.

Really! Well, if it sounds that popular, I reckon I can write a PHP character generator with PbP-balanced stats to match. Not sure how to handle the traits system, though, other than flavor text.

I am clearly getting ahead of myself, though.

Yeah, you might want to check out the forum first before going crazy. He's basing it more off of the Reconstruction than the Drop, and is changing a few of the rules to fit a d20 system. Maybe the traits could be used for the character's passive abilities?

But having some kind of PHP character generator might seriously help clear up some of the confusion from your system to people who haven't heard of it, considering how different it is from most. Not to mention make things more smooth and easier to keep track of.

Here is a rough draft, so to speak. It generates an entirely random character. You can toy with stats and fluff, or generate another by refreshing:

http://www.tilde-one.com/random.php

Let me know if the numbers are right. I had to kind of wing it. I can add abilities later; I haven't decided if they should be biased toward element or more of a fighter-mage-thief triangle.
Small corrections, if you are using my rules:

Health total is 70+10 from race and +10 from class (90)
Regeneration is 1 for every health pool +1 from race and +1 from class (5)
Stat total should be 6*5+10 from race +10 from class +20 (70)
I guess you forgot to add race or class bonus.

Otherwise, great job.

Great! I left out class bonus since I figured that would tie into passive traits. I suppose it's separate, though. It may be easier to have the class built from the stats, and have the bonus stats just be added to the initial buy. If you want fully custom classes, anyway.

For now, I'll make the numbers match your totals!

Background:
You were displaced from Do`Ssha as a child and grew up among humans.
You have your doubts about the Supreme One's existence at all.
You keep your clothes and fur pristine and clean.

Soul based Fih'Jik, just what I would make.
Woah, this is great! What a good way to give people characters and show them what's needed and what to base things off of. I...don't know what else to say other than awesome.

Oh, right! I'm pretty sure this is true, but I want to check. I have a Shra who was a servant in the Divine Corps from Wadassia during the Blue Plague. Did they have Shra slaves in that group? And doesn't this mean that I will have worked with Santes? I recall Zargos being in the war right before the plague, so I'm fairly certain she was there during it.

She was definitely there; she (rather heartbreakingly) recalls it during her "optional" quest in chapter 5. She'd still be a teenager at the time, though. The corps probably wouldn't have used slaves, being that they were spawned off from the "main" group in Do`Ssha, but it's possible that the liberation mandate could have just recently been issued, so you can go whichever way you think would be more fitting to the character.

I'm glad you like it! I'll work on filling in skills tomorrow. Rather than randomizing every single one (which could really screw someone over if they don't know the ins and outs of the system), I'll probably have premade "sets" and make it assign one at random based element and weapon or armor type.

After that, I guess I should get around to registering for the site and posting a character, too!
Gotcha. I guess the large difference in beliefs from the two divisions made me think they were more separate than they actually were, since Santes spends most of the time talking about how they were more welcoming, etc, in Wadassia. The liberation mandate fits perfectly with what I was thinking, though. I'll have him previous have been a slave until that came into effect during the Blue Plague, in which case he was free, but uncertain of what to do, like the Shra slave at the end of Chapter 2. So, he continues to serve in a more prominent role, and even lead some, which he is struggling with.

Hahah, yeah. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Also, quick note: The game takes place only a year or so after the Blue Plague occurred, before the events of The Reconstruction. I don't know if you were aware of that or remembered it, since your comment about the liberation mandate seems to indicate you were thinking it was more recently, whereas in the game no matter what it would have to be only been recent.

Sure; the plague was during a small time window in general, and it was a pretty knee-jerk reaction by the fih'jik people in the first place. Since I never really detailed the length of a year or any specific dates, I think the numbers are soft enough to work in any way that AQ wants to define the timeline.

I've updated the generator to include skillsets now. It picks either a fighter or a caster loadout tailored to the character's element. I made up a few skills and borrowed some from The Drop to fill in some gaps, but since it's up to GM discretion anyway, I don't think it will disrupt things. I'm curious to see how things like chain count and rush meter affect low-integer dice rolls, though!

If you come up with some firm numbers or changed effects, let me know and I will modify the form. I registered for the site and will post a character tonight. Feel free to link to the generator page on the meantime.
It looks great.

I only have numbers for Ro9re's character, I will have to balance the rest of abilities.
Chain will add a bonus to your roll and rush will probably be %-based.

Can't wait to see your character.

Chain. Crap. I forgot about ability colors. I will add those shortly.
