A slight update of Onyx 2. Unlike the previous three year old download, this one will not use the hand-drawn facesets. The download is stand-alone, so you will not need RPGM2k3 to play it. Also, the "Wait" option has been added.

Brief Synopsis:

Evan Selwyn saved the world one year ago, but a recent trend in cult-like murders has prompted him to duty. Can Evan put a stop to these twisted murders, and who is the mysterious kid who claims to know him from long ago...? All of this and so much more in the conclusion of the Onyx Saga.

Features:

-A dark, ever-expanding storyline
-A large cast of unique, offbeat characters with their own individual personalities and abilities
- Several hours of optional material

Back from obscurity: Onyx 2 gets a (small) update

I was playing through my old games today and after cringing through a lot of them, I came across this buried and forgotten dusty diamond... dusty, because of the HORRID facesets player complained about since the very beginning.

So today, I took them out.

And now the game definitely feels like a more upgraded version of Onyx 1, which it was intended to be.

While I wait for the download to be approved, if anyone is interested, they can follow the link here in the meantime: http://www.mediafire.com/?4itxtp8tjc0o771

Here are a few screenshots showing the change:

I also fixed up the introduction and scenes within the first two dungeons. A gameplay vid (or two) may follow.

G'night

Great story line, good musics, decent difficulty. The only drawback is that it's troublesome to level up all members.
Gotta say, I am not a fan of that character artwork over the text boxes...
I like it.... I did the best I could do at the time. =(

Back then I tried to make them look as un-anime as possible. And this game is old and dead, so I'm not changing it, and no one will ever have to worry about seeing my artwork in a game again hahaha.
this is good game but i diden't like that gay man...
Thanks for the feedback.

If you thought Zed was a douche here, he was even worse in the minor role he had in the first Onyx. But he was fun to write for -- make of that what you will. =P

I have a copy if you wish.
Onyx 1 should still be available. I still have it up on MediaFire. The download isn't working?
I love this game. It really easy. I wish i could of played the first game but it was way too hard.
Thanks for the feedback. =)

Yea, Onyx was made when I didn't really know much about the program. This game feels much, much cleaner to me.

I never noticed before and probably wouldn't have noticed if it was for the "Games with a download without a Review," topic, and that is this game does not have a review! Why not? The game is awesome(Though the first one was better)!
I guess people just find it easier to send me an email than write a review? =P

I'm a victim of that myself, shamefully.
Wow! This game is the true sequel to Onyx 1 - Loved it! I especially love those games that don't go 'fourheroeschosentofightevilblahblahblah'!!
I'm glad to hear to it. =)

I was really proud of this game at the time that I made it. I can't believe it's half a decade old.
I'm still playing through your first game. Mabye a little over halfway through it. Anyway, although it's not some revolutionary battle system, or skill system, ect, I must say. I absolutely love both your writing and storytelling skills. Your characters have very diverse personalities that fit quite well. I can't wait to finish the first one so I can begin this one, already have it on my comp I simply wanted to play out the first one first. Loving every minute of it so far.

So, thanks for the awesome play =D
I started this today, while waiting on a couple of clues to wrap up ONYX 1 (posted at that game's page) and at the Police station, just as I was about to exit, I got an error report and the game shut down on me. I've had the same issue with ONYX 1 except it happened as I was saving. Any clues? Any remedies? Thanks for your help and for two awesome games.
Whoa, that's pretty serious! What does the error message say? Does the music stop playing before the crash?

I can't see the error msg. I reloaded from a save file, skipped the previous crash point smoothly and the it happened again as I witnessed Lee and Brooke walk away - maybe I was not supposed to see that this early in the game? Triggered an event that comes later? I'll try again and try to catch the error msg - if it happens.
