Hellion

There is something strange going on at the old temple in the remote village of Salidar. You are the Mysterious Wanderer - a warrior chosen from destiny to face the evil within. Your fate is tied intimately with what lies at its depths. Will you bring salvation to the forlorn hopefuls of Salidar? Or will you unleash destruction, whether by design or disaster? It is in your hands....

Hellion is best described as a cross between Dragon Warrior, Diablo and D&D - you have a blank slate character with 7 classes to choose from at the beginning of the game. You adventure solo. You can hire hirelings. The monster drops are random. The graphics are NES. The battles backgrounds are black. There are traps. There are locks to be picked and NPCs to be persuaded.

..:: FEATURES ::..
- Dragon Warrior NES-style theme
- Several outside of battle skills, including lockpicking, hiding, running, pickpocketing and persuading.
- A simple Alignment tracking system
- Random monster drops and chest contents
- On-map traps and monsters
- Unique Skill trees for the 7 character classes
- Fatigue-based Running System

Hellion: Rad Sunglasses mappack

Here is the mappack for Hellion with the XTREME LFX content! Download the rar file and unzip the contents of the rar file and copy it into the Hellion folder, overwriting what's there. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Thanks to:
AznChipmunk for the cool looking level.
geodude for rad sunglasses and map idea
GreatRedSpirit for the darkness code and image.
kentona for putting it all together and making another rocking arrow tile puzzle (booyah)
hyadain for his awesome DQ3 remix

To access the Rad Sunglasses map go to the pool in the lower right section of Salidar and inspect the waterfall. There is an inscription that you need to decipher and the way to Rad Sunglasses castle will be unlocked.

Yes, I posted it there. Since none of my projects had any traction there I was trying to see if posting a game in-development would catch that audience's interest.

It failed to do so.

(I also tried posting on HBGames and RMRK and a few others, too).

I gave up on RRR entirely after that and now spend all of my time here at RMN. But that's okay because RMN is the best.
Yes, yes it is the best. I believe that whole-heartedly! None of my projects ever garner any attention over at RRR, either. ;__;

And I made the final boss in Hellion too easy! Gah. Can't believe that. *cries*

Yep... same here, although I did get over 4000 downloads for Ebon Scape, and not a single F'n comment about the game itself. AWESOME! lol I still am a long time member of RRR, but I can't really say I'd like to submit my games there anymore. It's just too much of a hassle.
Show, estilo final fantasy do daynavison radical!
I started to play this game recently. The game seems fun, but the animagus bug is still there which removes the point of playing that class. Maybe I'll try another class later.

Hmm... I thought I fixed that.

Have you downloaded the Rad Sunglasses mappack?
Yes, and I've accessed it as well. I didn't finish that place though.

Anyway, I restarted with a rogue and that turned out to be more fun, so I'm sticking to him for now.
One of these days I will have to play my games again and fix all the bugs. One of these days...

Maybe after I retire.
Hi, I just started playing this game and I have to say it's great! I've been having loads of fun.

But I'm having some trouble at the...5th level I think? The first level with red walls instead of blue. I went through each of the passageways except for the one that is sealed and the one that leads to the underground level. Can anyone help me find out how I unlock the sealed door or illuminate the darkened room?

The dark maze is the 6th floor. You must find the way through the maze.

Thanks for playing and taking the time to comment!
Oh so I need to get through the maze before I find out that sealed door on the 5th floor?

By the way I've been mapping out the maze as I walked through it to help me find my way. But I really don't want this map to go to waste, it did take me quite awhile. I was wondering, if you don't mind, if I could post the map in the FAQ/Help section of your gamepage.

You should fix the reply box CSS!
I beat this game some time ago and here are my thoughts on this game:

The story I consider major praise to you, I liked how the story was simple and well thought out.

The characters were believable to some extent, they all seem to have some kind of personality to them just by reading their texts and imagining what they could sound like.

The game play is somewhat alright though it can be hard at times when you face some of the bosses in this game.

As far as I can tell there is little to no text errors, and no bugs to be found. This game is 100% clean from beginning to end unless I missed something.

Simply put I give this game 10/10 for a great RPG maker 2003 type game as you utilized a lot of things in this game and even made a few custom sets.

As far as suggestions for updating, none really I find this game to be perfect in all areas. Maybe a bit of custom sprite coloring for all the characters, but that's about it.
Thanks! High praise indeed!
I would really like to play this game just every time I pick a character the game says I got 1 Skill, then the game gets stuck with a black screen and the red square I picked the character with.

Actually, I think it says to press the '1' key to choose your skills.

Try pressing 1 to see if you can continue.
wow, the bots really think my writing sucks I guess...
