the Man in the Iron Blog

Hey all!

Here's a preview showing the first ten minutes of Chapter I. It does contain some spoilers for the prologue demo, so be warned.

You'll be playing as quite a few different characters in Chapter I, as this part of the game is split between different viewpoints. For this first part of the chapter, you'll be playing as Leigh, Teing's son, as he tries to find his father, who has disappeared following the events of the prologue.

You do like your long cutscenes, bp. ^^ Is Ibrahim replacing Osvald from the old demo?
Ha ha, yeah, I do need to hold back a bit with the cutscenes. Though I do think I'm doing a better job of spacing them out better for Chapter I, and using more subtle, quick interactions to get the point across. So that's a plus.

As for Ibrahim, he's still Osvald as far as the character and personality goes, just with a different name and appearance. I changed his name because I decided that Mein Exan, the kingdom where he's from, should be Arabic-inspired. Before, Mein Exan was supposed to be a weird kind of Germany-analogue, but I decided that I had a few too many Europe-centric countries represented in the game (i.e Lorimaris is Great Britain, Aternelle is France, Galbraia is Israel). Instead, I decided to have an Arabic country act as inspiration for one of the game's kingdoms (mostly because that area of the world is fascinating and you don't really see it represented in games too often). :p

*end long rambling explanation*
Ah, I thought as much ( with regards to the names and the regions that the cast comes from ). I think it is simple brilliance on your part though. Because the player can just look at the character's name and immediately tell which region they're from. I concur with the Arabic-names though ( or maybe I'm biased because my real name is Arabic and it means 'luck' XD ).
I have to say that "Lord Ibrahim" sounds really cool. That Lady Athelia sure isn't the life of the party though, is she?
