My thoughts about the demo....

I played the game and I loved it.

Graphics

The maps are well made, and everything from castles to the forest is well designed. It feels like the atmosphere is alive and feels real (as real as the maker can make it). It uses edits from FFV and similar stuff but they even look better than they did in the original game, and that's saying a lot.

The world map is huge, but well made. I even got lost for awhile there but it feels like I am exploring a brand new world. Great use of the chipsets.

Story
It is about an invasion that an Empire is trying to do, probably to conquer the world. The heroes are trying for the different Kingdom in the continent to ally themselves against the 'Evil Empire'. This is a very short version of what the plot is about. But in reality the setting of the game is anything but that simple. Each Kingdom has their own reason to participate or not participate in the war to come. and it's up to the player to try and convinced them otherwise. Each Kingdom is very different from the other, where you have the first kindgom which is very similar to what you see in videogames, and the second kingdom where it is ruled by a woman and compared to the other ones they are very prosperous. THe third kingdom is ruled by a coward king, and it is very isolated from the outside world compared to the others ones.

The dialogues are top notch and well written (I didn't even see any typos). The game doesn't develop the MC (main characters) that much, but the dialogues between all the characters in the game tell a history about the world you are experiencing as a player. It doesn't even feel like you are reading a textbook but that you are actually experiencing the history that happened and it's happening right now.

Music

The music fits the game perfectly. The battle music is very catchy, and for those battle with the nasty monsters this music actually makes want to battle them just so I could listen to the tune. The atmosphere music reminds me of RPG's of old, you can hear it all the time and you won't get tired of it. It convey what the setting is aiming for perfectly, from town music to the caves and the forest.

Gameplay

The gameplay is standard DBS battles. While not bad I would've liked if the maker of the game would've added a wait/active command in the menu. The battles are your standard mash the space button to use the same command over and over. THere is no strategy at all to the battles as I used the same commands to kill the enemies faster. I think you have to think some kind of way to make the battles more interesting because mashing the buttons to do the same thing is not fun, maker :(

But alas there are some things that I dislike:

1. There is no strategy to the game, I think more has to be done in order for the game to be more strategic when battling enemies as it is pretty much mash the space button.

2. When you kill a boss, put some kind of object that can transport back to the beginning of the dungeon. I think it is a big no no to make the player do the travel back to the world map all over again

3. Your world map is huge and I recommend some kinda mini map so the player don't get flustered and lost.

In all it is a game I recommend to play and I hope you finish it.

I give it a score of 4, it is great but will need a lot more work on it to be one of the greatest RPG makers games. Good work on the developing team for doing such outstanding job...

Thanks for your review.

1. This was only the first chapter in the game, so we didn't want to give players a hard time. The next chapter will be the beginning of strategy-based battles.

2. Agreed on teleporting the player outside of the hideout. This change will be reflected on the next release.

3. Currently, the world map remains incomplete, but more areas will be explored on the next release; you will be given a key item that lets you view a map of the entire world.
Thanks for the review!

I will address a few points regarding the story. First of all, I'm glad you've enjoyed it thus far. As Allen pointed out, this is only the first chapter, and so a lot of it was setup. The story we are planning is a bit of a slow burn, and there will be a lot of development in future chapters. Talon and some of the others are intentionally underdeveloped at this point in the game, because to reveal their motivations now would probably spoil much of what's to come. Without giving too much away, there is more to it than the usual merry band of adventurers trying to stop an evil empire. All I can say is be patient with the storyline, because the bigger underlying plots will slowly be revealed over the next few chapters. Other than that, I'm glad to hear that we have succeeded in building a diverse world with some unique environments and rich lively history, because that is exactly what we were aiming for.

Best of luck to you gentlemen.

And nice review, Bandito. Simple yet effective as you give pros and cons to what hopefully will be an RPG epic. :)
