Tears of Reality

This is a project I have been working on for a long time now. It is actually a remake of an older project by the same name which I lost due to computer troubles. However, this version is bigger, better, and outright awesome compared to the older, lost version. I am often my own harshest critic, but even I am proud of the work I have put into this project. I hope that everyone interested gives the demo a try, and hopefully maybe send in some feedback, love it or hate it.

The demo is complete, meaning it has everything that will be in the full game, except the story ends after the conclusion of the 2nd chapter. The full game will contain 18 chapters. The demo should take somewhere between 2 and 5 hours. It took me a bit over 2 hours to do a full run-through, but I already know where everything is, the strategies to take down the baddies, and I skipped all the dialogue, so it may take longer for other people. Plus, the demo is a nice small size (24mb for non-rtp and 58mb for the rtp, which is pretty good as far as game sizes go) so it should be a quick download.

I have created a lot of the resources myself. I use the RTP tiles, but have edited all of them at least slightly, and I have created a number of original tiles as well, like most of the trees, flower beds, etc. I created a number of battlers as well and there is a small sampling preview in the images section of some of them. Custom faces are being created for the full version, and right now there are placeholders. Custom music has been made for this project, and I coupled that with some royalty free music and XP RTP music (infinitely better than the VX RTP music) for a good selection. I worked hard with the scripts, trying to make a bunch of incompatible scripts compatible with one another, and I have had a lot of help from a decent scripter to do just that, so the game has a good array of customization on all fronts, graphically, musically, and technically.

As far as the entirety of the game goes, the whole story is complete and written down. As a person who has graduated college with an English degree, I made it my first priority to make a storyline that was engaging, yet accessible to a wide audience. There are some typical RPG tropes to give the game an old RPG feel, but gave the characters and overall plot a good dose of my own creativity to ensure that it is not the same hackneyed RPG cliche plot that we have all seen too many times. The vast majority of the resources are completed. The tilesets are complete, most of the sprites are complete, I may make a few more battlers, and I also may tweak the scripts a bit more, but pretty much everything is all set and all that remains is eventing and mapping the rest of the game.

I just realized the demos are not up yet. They are currently pending. They should be up soon. There is both the RTP included version and the non-RTP version. They are both fairly small because I deleted all of the resources that will be used in the full version but are not used in the first two chapters.
