..:: GENERICA ::..
..:: THE NEXT GENERATION ::..

..:: OVERVIEW ::..

Welcome to Generica: The Next Generation! Generica: The Next Generation follows the story of the new generation of heroes as they hunt down the heathen vessel meant to resurrect the fallen Slayer King.

33 years after the demise of the Slayer King and the events of Generica, a Cardinal in the southern continent of Southica is convinced a plan is afoot to resurrect the evil theron. He has secretly trained a new group of heroes to seek out and destroy the heathen vessel meant to revive the Lord of Destruction.

In a world still sickened by the wars and bloodshed and tyranny of the defeated Slayer King, our heroes must pursue the vessel and its mysterious guardian through valleys, across wastelands and over mountains and stop the resurrection at all costs. Fierce elementals, perilous caves, and dangerous assassins stand in their way as humanity and the New Religion strive to survive in a dying world.

..:: NOTES ::..

This project was intended to be a small project created in a short timeframe. However, that isn't how it played out in the end. After nearly 4 years of sitting in Development Hell, I finally pushed through and completed the game. All told, there was probably about only about 3 months worth of work put into this game. It was just interspersed with months and years long hiatuses. This game is a short RPG like the original Generica.

Generica: The Next Generation v1.0 is released! Finally!

The download includes the option to play the original Generica, and the option to use either the G:TNG classes or the original Generica classes (to start either game). Also features a New Game+ that allows you to play through to the next game using the same classes/levels/equipment/items.

This game was patched using DynRPG and HyperPatcher 2 (for the font). There is a FF6.fon in the Font folder you should install if you haven't already. This is the first time that I used DynRPG, and I used it to install PepsiOtaku's Faster ATB patch.

If you encounter any bugs or balance issues, let me know here! I will do my best to fix them.

I hope you enjoy the game!

hope you made arrangements since this wensite is going down (it was one of my favorites too... came here every day)
Alas, out of all the games on this site, somehow the thought I may never see a completion to Generica's sequel disturbs me the most.
pffft, like I'd ever quit making games just because I have nowhere to put it.
you could always come to meridian dance

Yeah, I got an email from jazzwhisky seemingly out of the blue about someone posting my games there. So I decided to officially post them there instead myself. Thanks for pointing out the fraud initially!

I'm a bit frustrated so far. The girl with the dark magic powers is annoying. Her darkfire attack does more damage to the party than the monster :(
I'm not even quite sure what you are talking about.

Me neither! I played it wicked late. I'll try using her again!
I just beat the game? Well up to the point where it gives me a message telling me the demo is over and sending me to the game over screen. It was good overall. If I had to nitpick it would be that 4 brutes are way overpowered. The bosses didn't even last more then 2 rounds. Actually the only monsters that did last more then 2 rounds were the ghosts and shadows. I hope when you finish the game you make the monsters stronger or weaken the brutes. I haven't tried any other classes yet. Only because I knew this was a demo, so I picked the class I thought was strongest to blaze through the game to get a feel for it. Also is there a better herb you can buy in the future of the game? Cause I can only get better herbs from monster drops and chests. Also do you plan on adding a store where you can buy scrolls, for parties who are non-magic?

Can't wait to play the completed version.
I will probably look at making the brutes a little less overpowered, and include some enemies that blind (to reduce effectiveness of pure fighters). Also, there are no plans to include a place that sells scrolls (part of the game is picking a balanced party!) nor is there plans for more powerful healing herbs or the selling of the renewal/restore herbs (which is basically the equivalent of an Elixir in FF games). Again, balanced parties!

That being said, there are elemental imbued weapons to be found later on that might help you out.

Yes those were very much needed to beat those ghosts that were immune to physical attacks. You also might want to consider NOT giving brutes a weapon that lets them attack twice, combined with impact nothing can survive.
Yeah, I need to rethink the Brute. He is pretty overpowered! (Then again, all of the classes are)

Incidentally, how did you find the story? Was it comprehensible? (especially if you didn't play the first game). was it interesting enough?
I actually only played like 10 minutes of the first game, but didn't get that far. The story was interesting and easy to understand. You did a good job in the beginning. It got me wanting to play all the way through. Which the first game didn't do as well. Also the mapping is very nice. Are you combining the two games into one in the future? What I mean is the story continues once you finish Generica and you get to keep your party and stuff to continue the second adventure.
Any more updates to when this will be completed?
