..:: GENERICA ::..
..:: THE NEXT GENERATION ::..

..:: OVERVIEW ::..

Welcome to Generica: The Next Generation! Generica: The Next Generation follows the story of the new generation of heroes as they hunt down the heathen vessel meant to resurrect the fallen Slayer King.

33 years after the demise of the Slayer King and the events of Generica, a Cardinal in the southern continent of Southica is convinced a plan is afoot to resurrect the evil theron. He has secretly trained a new group of heroes to seek out and destroy the heathen vessel meant to revive the Lord of Destruction.

In a world still sickened by the wars and bloodshed and tyranny of the defeated Slayer King, our heroes must pursue the vessel and its mysterious guardian through valleys, across wastelands and over mountains and stop the resurrection at all costs. Fierce elementals, perilous caves, and dangerous assassins stand in their way as humanity and the New Religion strive to survive in a dying world.

..:: NOTES ::..

This project was intended to be a small project created in a short timeframe. However, that isn't how it played out in the end. After nearly 4 years of sitting in Development Hell, I finally pushed through and completed the game. All told, there was probably about only about 3 months worth of work put into this game. It was just interspersed with months and years long hiatuses. This game is a short RPG like the original Generica.

Generica: The Next Generation v1.0 is released! Finally!

The download includes the option to play the original Generica, and the option to use either the G:TNG classes or the original Generica classes (to start either game). Also features a New Game+ that allows you to play through to the next game using the same classes/levels/equipment/items.

This game was patched using DynRPG and HyperPatcher 2 (for the font). There is a FF6.fon in the Font folder you should install if you haven't already. This is the first time that I used DynRPG, and I used it to install PepsiOtaku's Faster ATB patch.

If you encounter any bugs or balance issues, let me know here! I will do my best to fix them.

I hope you enjoy the game!

Your games are an inspiration to me in RPG Maker and I'm sure you inspire others as well. Swordmages are overpowered by the way.
I played the first Generica back when it came out (and Hero's Realm), but only recently found out there was a sequel! So I downloaded this yesterday and kind of beat both games twice, with a party from the first game and one from the sequel.

There are a lot of things I could say about Generica, but I'll keep it keep it short and sweet: Starting these games and playing through was like opening up Dragon Warrior III on Christmas morning and not being able to put it down until bedtime, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Thanks for making Generica And Hero's Realm, you rock. :)
Thank you for the kind words. I am glad that you enjoyed the games! Sadly, I never did receive a copy of Dragon Warrior III for Christmas...
Bug report: On the Slayer King battle (in the clouds), I got an error saying that the enemy's script referenced an ability that does not exist, and the game restarted, causing me to have to load my game. I hadn't saved after beating any of the Therons, so I had to beat them all over again. My party was so powerful that this wasn't a big deal (killed each boss on round 2), but it may be very frustrating for someone who's struggling. A note on this, also: the Slayer King had summoned his 4 Fury Face lookalike adds (forget what they're called in this game, but they're Fury Faces in Dragon Warrior 4 ;)).
Oh wow, on my second playthrough (first non-new-game-+) I noticed the Slayer King had a "gold skin" phase! It was hard to beat him down through it with my all-raider party! Haha! :D The Dire Belt and the Brawnbelt helped a lot. ;) I love the Dire Belt. Tradeoff items that are powerful are very satisfying, like the Berserker from Chrono Trigger.
I am glad you are having fun! Thanks for playing and taking the time to comment.
‘Bout time that this got a Gamespot. I was wondering when you were going to finally put it up there. I just can’t believe that it took this long. (I think I recommended it back in late 2013.)

- Still holding out hope for a Generica 3 someday! :D
This is just awesome! So like the classic DQ's of ye olden days but with more interesting classes and not as much gender selection, but with a little graphics hack that can be accomplished easily enough so yeah XD Very awesome thing you've made here! ^_^ I have feeling it'll be my new obsession and win out even over Oblivion.
I played the first one and enjoyed it. I love these throwback games. I saw this pop up on the main games list and figured I'd give this one a try tonight!
I hope you guys both like it!
Need help with something. Does the door in Spiritwood in the room upstairs of King Leonis' throne room require a key other than the Wishsong key? I can't open it. Thanks!

Also I'm a bit lost. Where may I find the water temple?
The water temple is south of Watrous in the Cascade cave, iirc.

I will have to check my project file on the door in Spiritwood as I can't remember. I'll do that tonight and get back to you.

Sweet, thanks. I'm a big fan of your games. I know there won't be a sequel but my favorite out of your games is Heroes Realm.
yea, so I didn't get to this last night. It was my mom's birthday and I took the kids over to my sister's for cake and didn't get around to doing this. Tonight for sure, though!
No rush, I appreciate the effort though. Happy birthday to your Mom. What game are you working on next =]?
So! It would appear that the door does in fact require the Wishsong Key to open, however I neglected to put anything in that room of note! I must have missed coming back to it to put interesting items inside. How unfortunate.

Sorry about that. Those 4 pots you see aren't even evented - there's nothing there to inspect and no reward for opening the door. Pity.
