I just want to know if 'rancid' is really the correct word for that...I hear that word, I think butter that's gone -wa~ay- past the sell-by date.

Rancid is ok... but surely Vile or Disagreeable would roll of the tongue better...

I guess it's actually refering to the smell... after all, ointments are not meant to be tasted, or are they?

But yeah, unless the thing it's actually decomposing, maybe is best to use another word to describe it.
Why does everything good for you taste bad...or in this case 'rancid'?
