Shukumei Star II FAQ

Hello all. I'm new to the site, and have just recently restored interest in reviving my old projects. Currently I have Shukumei Star II up for download, and the 99% complete Shukumei Star is available too.

The sequel has been finished first because both these games are remakes from their original versions: SS2 was made in RM2k and was easy to port to 2k3. SS1 was originally made in RPG95, so that had to be remade from scratch.

Anyway, I thought I uploaded a FAQ for the game to be displayed alongside the "Summary," "Images" and "Downloads" tabs, but it is not appearing. If someone could help me out there I'll be forever grateful; in the meantime I'll post the FAQ information here. Hope you enjoy playing.

Q:
I keep finding directional combos on bookshelves. What do they do?
A:
The bard character uses these combos to temporarily learn spells during battle that he can't otherwise use. You don't need to have found the combo first to use it; button mashing when you use the Bard's Song ability can reveal new combos!

Q:
How do I get through the windy tunnel in the ice cave?
A:
This area is optional. Once you "liberate" the wind crystal, all wind should stop. Then you can get into the tunnel.

Q:
How do I get the chest in the ice patch? There is also a chest in the Wind Temple that says it needs a strong wind to blow it down. How do I get these?
A:
These are teaser chests. You won't be able to access them until much, much later in the game.

Q:
Why are the bosses so hard??
A:
The general formula for bosses is that their stats are around 25% higher than that of the hardest random enemy in its lair. Their XP is additionally 4x higher than normal. Boss battles encourage players to utilize the characters' special abilities in a clever and efficient manner (figure out which of the bard's songs are the most helpful, and commit those combos to memory). That, or level up a bit. If you can take out the hardest monster in an area with relative ease, then the boss should be challenging, but not impossible.

A good rule of thumb I try to employ is that you should fight near town until you have enough money to buy the best possible equipment and spells for every character, and then buy a bunch of rations (Salves, Spirits, and Lazari) on top of that.

Q:
I can't beat the skeleton in the boat. Are there some recommendations for this battle?
A:
The Skeleton has 533 HP. Just keep hacking away at him and he'll go down. Use Treves's Charge command and have Sophia cast Cure or use a healing item when things get bleak. Otherwise, use her to attack. Don't waste time using her Cheers for this battle unless you have Rally or Jeer or something higher.

Tip:
All enemies in the game begin to double-attack when their HP drops below 25%. If you see the Skeleton use this move, even if he winds up killing you, you at least know you've mostly beaten him. Just keep trying; maybe one of the characters will land a crit or two and waste him.

Q:
When I lose against the Skeleton, the game says I should heal, but then I get a game over!!!
A:
There is a bug in the original version where if you lose, you're supposed to gain some XP and be allowed to fight again. That way, you could at least level up until you beat him. If you want to be bothered to download the revision, I've uploaded an update of the game. Otherwise, the above tactic to kill the Skeleton should do just fine.

Nevermind, got it. Missed the checkbox. Man I am really botching up this whole "showcase your game" thing.

Anyway, enjoy the game immensely everyone.
A 99% complete RM95 game? If you still have it, could you put the original RM95 version up with SS1? It'd be a bit of a nostalgia rush to play a RM95 again, especially one that is (almost) complete

Assuming I could even get the game to start on any of my computer
Yeah, I remember hearing that a hack of RPG95 was required to get it to run on XP or later. Truth is, the old game is probably on my old "Frankendrive" if at all. Most of the monster and background graphics in this update were take from a 95 chipset, in fact.

Maybe if I can find the previous two games, I'll upload them for nostalgia purposes. They were nothing in the way of plot, but the dungeon crawls were interesting.
If that's the case I wouldn't worry too much about trying to pull it out. It'd probably be "WEEE!" for about ten minutes before the fact that it's RM95 and a game way back from when RM95 was used would set in and it would quickly devolve into a masochistic session of torture

It'd still be cool to show that you actually (almost) finished a game with RM95, but some things just aren't worth it
No, the three games were done. But the best one of them has been re-made into the 99% done version, "Shukumei Star." All it needs is the final battle and ending.
Where's Alice's another earing? I guess the empty shelfs are the clues, but i can't figure out the implication of them. Neither (20, 5) or (30, 8) is the answer.
I can`t change the Party Mambers von Treves, please help me.
