As of now, that map looks pretty dull, don't add a direct path to everything unless it's essential. Also, try to add more random tallgrass dirt, and 2nd layer objects.
There's probably a crapton I would do with maps in this day and age that I didn't do for Triax; you give great input but I will most assuredly be leaving the game as-is, mainly to preserve the kind of low-mid-level mapping I began my RM2K times with. ^_^
Hmm... Maybe you should revamp your maps and relese a new version, it's never too late to do that.
I have been tossing around that idea for a good long while, and possibly even re-doing the game in RMVX. Definitely never too late for that one!

I don't see any issue with direct paths on an overworld map. It's one possible direction of many. Off-shooting paths are good if you're aiming for an overworld in which the player goes exploring and risks their survival for goodies, but if that's not what you're going for, this style is certainly fine. After all, Chrono Trigger went a similar route, and that's a great game.
Geez so critical. 0_0 I did a color change to the RTP in my edit and that kinda helped it a bit more. The RTP just looks too yellow. RTP just needs some color tweaking. Needs moar red. I used a Hue/Saturation method in PS and took the main colors into a -25 and it seems to make the colors pop a lot more.
