A Final Fantasy fan-game with a twist...

A seemingly normal life. An average existence. That's all Kumo Atsureki has ever strived for, as the sole guardian of his younger brother at 19. Working as a hired gun with a young man named Levi Raionomoi, his long-time best friend, they work towards a future where they can do what they like rather than working for the highest bidder.

That's about to all come crashing down when their childhood friend Miri Joumaeshin, co-leader of the rebel movement LANDSLIDE, asks them to aid in bombing a Okam Reactor as a favour, something they can't say no to.

Oh, and a casual trip to Tokyo for a...cosplay convention, of course.

Things are about to get very, very messy, as the fragile 'normal' existence becomes a thing of the past and they become the only hope to save the world.

That is, of course, if they can save themselves...

Cosplay Crisis is a complete full-length RPG (stemming upwards of 10 hours in length depending how you play). If issues DO crop up, please check this list of unfixable bugs before submitting a bug report.

-Anything with materia.
-You cannot save on the world map. This is intentional - there is a save point in the terminal on the airship bridge.
-The 'Blasting Zone' animation appears over the Battle Status. I fiddled with it far too much as it is, so I left it.
-Common event skills don't update the battle status straight away (1000 Needles and Shock). I tried to fix this, too, but couldn't fathom a way to fully refresh the battle status through the common event call...so it has been left.
-If you use a Kumo/Levi limit break while critical, the characters won't reappear immediately. I'm not sure why this is, and haven't got a clue how to fix it.

3.2 Changelog

Hi All,

Long time coming since the Anniversary release, but I burnt myself out on it, and ended up rushing out 3.0 due to an arbitrary deadline.

As per gamepage reports, 3.0 suffered from a handful of move route softlocks, which I discovered arose due to the new sprint system added with the 3.0 release. These should all be fixed with 3.2.

Due to these softlocks I doubt anyone got far enough to realise, but as it turns out the game was completely unfinishable in its released state as the Hive/Banora Ruin Facility wasn't functional. It was this section that was worked on last before releasing, and I apologise to any who did reach this point and realised they couldn't progress.

Obviously, this entire section has been revised and is completable in its entirety.

Other changes to the game include:

Replaced some battlebacks and animations (as well as fixed some of them)
Slight EXP and Materia rebalancing (this is not retroactive so if you have current saves, they will not be affected.)
Fixed Bahamut's countdown into Megaflare
Various passability issues, which of course. This is never going to be perfect. But there should be no instances of passability softlocking the game, IDEALLY. If there are any remaining please report them to me ASAP so I can update the game version.
The 'Sustain' Materia can now be obtained and bought from some Materia shops.
(Adjustments were also made to its MP costs but since it wasn't obtainable nobody is gonna know what I did anyway)
More Kupo Nuts have been added to the game, so the Kupo Nut quest should definitely be completable (as I think there are more nuts than rewards). I guess we'll see? (This is the means to obtain the only Ribbon in the game).
The Green Propagator in the Ragnarok now uses a group Slow instead of a group Sleep, hopefully preventing an unfair gameover.
Aio/Seifer's battle graphic during the second encounter with him has been changed to reflect the altered Hive's story events.
Alicia's battle graphic has been changed because she's part of the final boss roster and deserved a little more respect, especially as 3.0 puts her motives a little more front and center.
The Manor in Aetas has been revamped (the new Foyer is in screenshots). If you're saved in the save point inside the Manor, the game will automatically fix your position (it will not do this if you're entering the area for the first time). The manor as a whole should feel more like the FF7 mansion.
Enemy drops have been slightly adjusted, adding new items and increased drops.
Shiva's boss fight has been tweaked to justify her summon spell strength.
The MP for summoning Shiva has been upped from 45 to 65 MP
Characters now level cap at 35, which is more than enough to curbstomp everything in the game. Completion level for myself was around 24-26.
Some general fixes to message box position, though not all of them, so choice boxes will still occasionally clip out of the screen.
Adjusted the state rate of 'Stop' against bosses, as Seal Evil could make a majority of them a cakewalk.

Other general fixes, adjustments, etc, as one would expect.

Major note: YOUR SAVES SHOULD BE COMPATIBLE, , so while you will need to redownload the game, you can just drop your save files in and continue from there.

Have you decompressed all the folders? That's the first graphic the game asks for and I've had others run the game fine. You should be able to actually go into the graphics folder and find that graphic in there.

I am also having an issue with playing. I think I unzipped everything properly, but I get an error: "RGSS102E.dll could not be found". Do I have to do anything with the .dll so they can be found? Thanks and congrats on being done!

EDIT: Wow... I feel really special. Almost an entire 2 seconds passed before I realized where I messed up (didn't copy the .dlls to the system folder). Sorry for being so special!

EDIT2: Actually, copying them to the system folder didn't help, but putting them in the same folder as the game made it work. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else has the same issue.

Alright ^^. I think I might add an extra page on this profile with the game's readme and put that info into it.
I'm an idiot, i missed the graphics file when i was extracting
In case anyone else has issues with extracting, it could also glitch due to being double foldered. What I mean by that is, theres an audio folder within the audio folder, and then that folder has all the stuff. I had to manually take out the extra folder to run the game.

Anyways, back to what I came here to say. This game so far is absolutely loaded with passability errors. Is this one of the things you couldn't fix? I can either keep a list of every passability error I find during it, or if you have no way to fix them, I can leave them unmentioned. I needed to check here first due to the sheer amount of them, and the fact for some of them, there easier to explain with a screenshot.

Tell passability to go fuck itself.

Whenever I tried to fix on place another error would crop up, you suddenly couldn't get places, blah, blah, blah. I probably spent more time trying to fix passability then anything else. Half the time I COULDN'T fix it because the tileset was bullshit, and if I made it impassable other crap popped up.

I hate passability SO MUCH. You do not understand how much I hate passability.

Feel free to keep a list. I probably won't be fixing it any time soon.
Ahh alright. I had a feeling it was one of those things you were having trouble with. Part of me wants to keep a just in case list for ya...but the other half says I shouldn't bother due to the sheer amount.

I think I will the list just in case though...as my bug testing half prevents me from not doing so. I'll keep a seperate passability error section in notepad, away from any other bugs I find. It's definetly not a common tileset, so I can see it being buggy.

I do like the nice touch with going down the stairs. I grabbed the items on the way down, and even found the gym message since I tried to go into a room (every single time), and even found your broken staircase. So yeah, despite the passability stuff, I do like the game so far. If anything, my one complain besides the passability stuff would be the dramatic changes in scenery. It takes quite the huge jump at times from one map to the next. Anyways, I'll get to all that once I'm done testing, since my notes are in notepad. Didn't want ya to think I was being too critical though.

Yeah I tried to fix the changing scenery up a bit but there really wasn't a lot I could do besides making a bunch of new maps and areas...which I didn't want to do. I did stretch some of the later stuff out a bit so the transitions don't feel so sudden.
Walking out of the abandoned house in the Tokyo Back Alleys appears to glitch you into an impassable area to the left of the Cure materia on the ground. Considering that you get a Gate Key item inside, I'm guessing that it's important to go in there.

(The first time this happened, I was walking back to the save point after beating the alley three-enemy boss and realized, 'oh, hey, I never checked this door.' That really sucked.)

Alright, I'll patch that. Should have it up in a few minutes.
Don't forget to check your mail occasionally. I sent my first set of bugs on over a couple days ago, and I've been slightly busy, but the next batch will be coming soon. I'll update my game with that patch while I'm here lol.
Thanks for the prompt fixes! I decided to take a break while waiting on that, so it's good to have something to focus on for periods between exam prep again.
I continued playing past that point. I still can't seem to exit the back alley house without getting stuck in the same place, even after downloading the fix, but I continued on regardless. But after the Gold Saucer events, I seem to get stuck on a barrel when entering the back alley through the subway. Since I have to pass through that area, it seems to be a game-breaking bug.

I think I may have forgotten to save that change...alright. I'm uploading a second patch with a fix, and I'll reupload the game tonight.
