Vanisher, you actually get to control Selphie during this sequence (the only CC character you never end up with as your PC character are the optionals, though most of the sequences are brief[except for Levi- he spends a fair bit of time as the PC character due to him having an almost duel main charactership with Kumo)

The missile base was my favourite part of FF8, being Selphie was awesome! =D
....Actually this is more based on D-District rather than the Missile Base. Controlling Selphie is incredibly brief (you are forced into one fight with her as your only party member, but that's it).
Cosplay Crisis does have several 'replicated' areas (Miehlebin, the Ragnarok) which is for nostalgia/story reasons. Banora derives inspiration from various levels but is more or less it's own.

I might have asked you this before but where the Final boss is can you like save there before killing it and explore the world and stuff like that how you can do in all the FF games?
