The spiritual successor to Epic Monster Dungeon Explore! 2 is finally (almost...) here. Everybody, a round of one-hit KOs for Saga Mara Talon! It's time to die all over again!

Saga Mara Talon is a mix of Diablocide and EMDE!2, where you are given a task (defeat the horrible Talon) and ten party members to do it with. Explore, loot, and customize in a fast-paced coffee break RPG/board game. Choose where you fight and which bosses to defeat to advance North on the game archipelago, eventually making your way to Talon itself.

Oh, yeah, and the game was going to be made in less than five days, but I procrastinated for an entire week.

Features
-Fast-paced gameplay; beat the game in less than six hours
-Customize the skills of ten characters
-Switch your party at any time - even in battle - to take down vicious bosses
-Open world lets you train and loot where you want, when you want
-Intelligent enemies study your weaknesses and know your strengths
-Made with DGMSCA: Decent Gameplay Mechanical Sense Construction Abilities

Credits and thanks go to Craze, Yanfly, Space not Far, Mithran, Anaryu, and KGC for scripts; VX Closet for additional monster sprites; Karsuman for the title screen's drawing; Enterbrain for all other graphics and all audio; Karsuman, ChaosProductions, and Yanfly for emotional support.

Please do not take scripts directly out of this project, as I have hackerized most of them and they will not work in your project. Please PM me if you would like to know where I got a specific script.

...So there was something probably really obscure about how you had to kill him. Understood. >> He was the only thing left standing on the map. xD. (I will kick myself so hard if it was just a case of hitpoint dissonance, and he just had a massive amount of hidden HP, or something). >>

Anywho. All this back and forth has been much appreciated. *Salutes* Thank you. I'll give those other two games a whirl soon- and then likely proceed to mumble and putz around those pages for a bit. :P

Alexander is a cameo boss from Speak No Evil, and was both designed and implemented by the man who made that game. He is meant to be stupid++++++.
so, for, Edifice:.. whether you clear or die, you end up back at town to shred through whatever combination of monsters/areas bosses the game presents you this time around- and to see if you can get to the end with more people intact?

Whereas, Obelisk has a definitive end goal, type thing? (From what I'm getting). >> Sounds interesting either way. I'll make sure to give them both a whirl =).

Oh, and you never did answer. Is Alexander actually -beatable- in Sage mara? Or is he just a joke boss meant to horribly kill you. >> Or tie you up in a never ending fight, if you're a zombie >>. I tried murdering him with various combinations of his minions active -and- setting his minions so I could kill everything with the same attack. And just >> Nothing worked xD.

P.s. >> I liked E.M.D.E. 2. It was fun in its simplicity. And why I poked at Sage, honestly. >>

Edifice has about 500 (...2-3) difficulty settings. It's about survival and defense, though, so it's definitely different.

Obelisk is hardish, but can be finished under a number of arbitrary rules (only the starting party/no Essence/etc.) that make it much more difficult (but still finishable).

Obelisk is the better and more bug-free game of the two imo, but Edifice is never-ending.
>> I enjoy challenging games. It's probably the same reason I played godhand, or devil may cry 4 on Hell or hell mode. I clearly haven't suffered enough game overs in my lifetime. >>.

As much as great stories are wondeful- sometimes, I just want to clash with something so utterly overwhelming that it makes me want to rage quit. >> ..And then win anyways. This game, for all it's unbalances- at least satisfies that xD.

P.S. How do Edifice and Obelisks difficulty compare to these games? (I've been meaning to give them both a try, since the systems of your games tend to be extremely varied- so it becomes interesting to try and adapt to them). ..I just have a bad habit of dying horribly in roguelikes- so I'm wary. (I was butchered like a whee lil piggy in Blue Contestant, for instance... because I kept insisting on trying to kill everything. >>)

I am glad that you enjoyed this absolutely terrible game. Congratulations, you have completed RM* Hard Mode.
>.> I gotta say, whilst I enjoyed the game- At about the point I reached the 'Island of Optional Fights (Bonus Boss Now Included)... Well- things had degenerated to me either killing the boss in 1-2 rounds, or me dying under a barrage of either 5-7 (I think the most that ever happened was like 8 or 9 attacks..and that was just...blargh) consecutive actions wiping out my party.

I will confess, this is probably my fault for choosing the hardest difficulty. But, yeah- it was just a touch demoralizing. At least, until I discovered that Zombification cures everything, Courtesy of a ..uh..sparklepire, on optional island. (Well, no. It cures death. In the sense that you can't die as a zombie, short of petrification..and possibly doom? I never did sit there and ride out doom as a zombie to discern if it would kill me.) It was about that point where I started getting revenge on all the bosses that party wiped me in their first turn.

Still, it was a fun ride for the most part- beyond the hour spent trying to kill Alexander. Failing. Level grinding 15 levels and coming back to try and kill him...and then discovering that once he hits 0 hit points, he's still quite alive, well, and petrifying the party. >>

>> I do feel a little guilty about how I sneaked out a win, but..well. >> That's how it goes.

P.s. Sorceress Spam of Absorb ftw. 10 k Absorb crits are delicious <<

Release is most-likely-I'm-pretty-sure-Saturday.
Looking forward to the release. Especially since I enjoy certain games whose series have the initials SMT. It's very obvious for fans of that series.
Yeah, Craze has cut back to only 10 projects at a time.

SMT....where have I heard that before?

That Yanfly Aggro script sounds really interesting. Tons of tactical opportunities in terms of Tanks on the front line. I'm working on aspects nearing towards a Dungeon Crawler and that script is tempting me.
