Released Demo for RS!DX

So here it is, finally. A demo release for Even Day. It's bound to be a bit rough in places and there may be a few MINOR bugs but I'm quite sure there's nothing game breaking. Not a very long demo, but there's two towns, a dungeon and a castle so hopefully players will have fun.

The battles aren't as great as they could be at the moment and Sei's attack is all kinds of messed up. I'm working on it, slowly. And the maps are where I want them to be. ^.^ Except the castle ones.

When I created this game (one of my first!) I had the gigantic map disease. It's slowly getting reversed but most parts that area accessible during the demo have been fixed in that respect, thank God.

Well, just hope you enjoy it and if there's any problems tell me. I'll get fixing as soon as I can!

Old Downloads vs New.

As I wrote on the actual game page, this is a pretty old game (era 2000) and I've been fixing it up quite a bit. To show this I've been thinking about putting up the older version demo (not a complete demo, which is why it never got posted up in the first place) to compare with the newest demo - which I'll probably put up in about a week or two anyway.

There's been a lot of graphical work done, as well as dialogue and some smoothing of events. The older version/s used face graphics during dialogue which cut out a lot of space for more dialogue - which is always a problem when using them. I've since cut out the faces as well as made them from the same set instead of all higgledy-piggledy.

Maps have either been made smaller or at least filled up a bit more to counter-act the 'too-much-space' syndrome I was obviously suffering at the time of Even Day's creation. The only maps I haven't really touched are the forest ones as they're pretty well-done as is - I obviously knew how to plot a forest back then. ^.^

Lastly I've been editing some of the sounds as they were far too loud and ear-shattering. I may or may not have missed some - I'll have to have another play through, but at least I got rid of the annoying up/down stairs 'shuffle'. Also - battle sprites/animations are not complete... at all. In fact I think there's two finished battle animations - which is pretty bad as only one of them is a character attack. I'll be working on those in the new version too, though not so for the old demo.

So what I really want to know is if people would like to have the old demo to compare with the new. Well? Would you?
